I can see why this tops most gaming blogs’ lists. This a great adventure from start to finish with some throwback mini Mario games along the way. Great graphics and story. Skill levels range from easy to addictively challenging. Very rewarding to finish this Odyssey. Definitely recommend.

This is up there with Super Mario Galaxy as my favorite Mario ever. Has so much diverse gameplay, great level design, beautiful visuals, and it's tons of fun. You can play this game for a while and not get bored, and there's tons to do and mess around with. One of the best Switch games PERIOD.

One of the funnest mario games ever. I have had a blast being able to explore and find the hidden items. It’s easy enough for my 7 year old son to play and fun enough for me to enjoy. I have spent around 45 hours playing it and I’m still going. Definitely get this game if you have a switch.

I love how they've incorporated some of the old school Nintendo games into the new version. My kids get to experience how our games looked and once they pop out the tunnel they see how amazing technology has come. Game is fun and your able to play with another player which builds team work.

This game is completely awesome! My number 1 for the Mario series is Mario 64. This one though adds elements only a recent game could accommodate. Tons of challenging moons to try to obtain. Hours of great fun! Definitely recommend

Purchase this game for my wife and kids for the holidays and they have a blast with it!! if you can get it on sale that would be great but if not it is worth the $60.00 bucks!! takes me back when i was playing the original Mario on the Nintendo 64.

I had a lot of fun with this game, not very difficult but very entertaining. I completed the game within a day but I am still missing over 700 moons so a lot to be explored

Honestly an outstanding game in every sense of the word. It's family friendly, with low barrier to entry (meaning easy to play), but the game has so much to explore and find with an engaging and entertaining story. Arguably the best game available on the Switch (this or Zelda)

If you own a Switch, and do not own this game, you are making a mistake. Mario Odyssey is one of the greatest games ever made, distilling pure fun into every fiber of its package. Getting nearly everything in the game took around 35 hours for me, and I am a fairly advanced player.

I'll be honest, the last Mario game I played was on the Nintendo 64. I'm embarrassed to admit that around that time I bought into the hype that it was the hardware specs and the graphics that defined a good gaming experience, but have come back around to understanding that graphics aren't everything, the game needs to be fun.
And this game definitely is fun, and that it is visually stunning is an added bonus. The mechanics with Cappy are unique and I appreciate the new take on game play. I appreciate that there is the option to use motion control, but that it isn't required. The puzzle solving is challenging without being artificially frustrating (there is nothing worse than something that has been made hard simply for the sake of being hard, so far the challenge all seems natural to the game mechanics and story telling). And, at the end of the day, I'll be honest, who doesn't love to be able to possess the enemies and use them against themselves.

Like many before has said, this is nostalgia crack for anyone who loved Super Mario on n64. When I first started playing, I was a giddy 10 year old again doing back flips and ground stomps with Mario. I had the one for the Wii, and I know you could use two controller/hands features , but I don't remember why or to what extension it was. Throwing the cap with the controll on the switch feels much more natural. When they say you can possess things and throw your cap at everything, they do mean everything. It will either bust through something, kill a baddie, or possess a baddy.
The only minor downside I see is the outfit aspect of the game. All fine and good that you don't have to buy anything with real money to deck out mario in accessories. But I wish certain outfits gave Mario abilities - like the different suits you could get after finding the different colored blocks in N64. I just think it would make collecting all the purple coins more meaningful

I have been playing Super Mario games since the original NES and this game is possibly the best one to date. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is very easy and game itself has lots of adventures to get immersed in. I would highly recommend. It's fun for players of all ages.

Super Mario Odyssey is a game that any type of player can enjoy, such as speed runners, and casual, etc. Even though the main campaign may seem short to some, the post game has much more to offer than the campaign. In addition the box art for this game is fantastic and appealing.

For parents who don’t play games:
A sandbox game is a game that gives you the freedom to do whatever it is you’d like whenever you’d like. This game is good for children of all ages due to its Assist Mode, helping them (or parents without gaming experience) find their way with helpful blue arrows.
Review:
Super Mario Odyssey manages to keep the same feel as every other Mario you’ve played (since N64) without the glorified loading screens. The game focuses on saving Peach from Bowser by powering up the spaceship Odyssey with moons from each kingdom. Which moons you collect is entirely your choice. The story is good and the visuals are awesome. Single-player is my preferred method but you can play two-player, each player using one of the Joy-Cons. If you’re looking for a two-player game that allows both players freedom, don’t buy this. Player Two has control over Cappy and relies heavily on Player One to move around the kingdoms.

Most gamers already know whether they like Mario games. If you dislike them, then Mario Odyssey won't change your mind. But if you do like them, then you can rest assured that this one is as great as any of the others. It doesn't quite live up to the insane hype around it, but it is still very good.
This is the same style of cartoony 3d-platforming collect-a-thon as Mario 64 and the Galaxy games. The main storyline takes around 15-20 hours if you play at a normal pace, and it's fairly easy for the most part. However, there is a huge amount of post-game content that you unlock after that, and some of it is quite challenging. No DLC or microtransactions here...you can unlock everything without pulling out your wallet again.
There are only a few real flaws in Odyssey, and none of them are very bad. If you're on the fence about this game, then I would recommend you give it a try. It's my #2 favorite Switch game behind only Breath of the Wild.

Odyssey takes the crown, even over my old favorite Super Mario 64. This game is very creative & enjoyable to play. Looking forward to doing the adventure all over again!

I really enjoyed the Wii 3D mario games in Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Then, with Mario 3d World it kinda went downhill. However, I really enjoyed this entry in the series. It takes some of the excitement of surreal worlds and grounds them a little bit, bringing Mario into some of the most "realistic" worlds yet. Having already completed the main storyline, it is in traditional Mario fashion, no deviation from the status quo. For me, however, Mario games are more about the creative gameplay and boss battles than the actual storyline or cut scenes like in other video games. After completing the story, there is still so much exploring to do! I spent a solid two hours on one world alone trying to gather the power stars, and I was nowhere near close to collecting all of the stars there. Every single star seems to be creatively placed in its location; nothing seems to be by chance, but instead intentional. Overall, would definitely recommend.
