I am just lost for words. The spirit of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine lives on in this game. It was as if I stepped into a portal to my childhood. I highly recommend the "single joy-con in each hand" motion control scheme. The motions controls feel so intuitive and really enhance the gameplay. Cappy serves as a great sidekick, with his boomerang and capture abilities providing a refreshing take on the classic 3D Mario Mechanics. Visually, it is a gorgeous game. It maintains 60 fps consistently in both mobile and docked. There seems to be a variety of different environments in this game, unlike Super Mario Galaxy and Sunshine. While those games followed a common theme, Odyssey takes influence from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World in that there is a (Spoilers) desert world, ghost world. tropical world, metro world, etc. The music is phenomenal. I recommend that everyone use a headset to truly appreciate it. I had chills running down my spine once I heard the theme from the Switch Presentation Trailer for Odyssey. No other franchise has made as big of an impact on the gaming industry as Mario. He is the Micky Mouse of gaming. This game can be enjoyed by anyone. Enthusiast gamers. Father/Mother playing with his or her kids. Teenagers. Anyone. They have absolutely blown me away with putting out masterpieces such as Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. These 2 games make the Switch worth it. I must also add that this year has been incredible for gaming. Besides Mario and Zelda, we had Persona 5, Cuphead, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier, Nioh, Divinity. Instead of debating Game of the Years. We should declare 2017 as the Year of the Games. I hope everyone enjoys these games as much as I have.

Super Mario Odyssey is a fantastic example of why Nintendo is the master of the platformer. They go back to their roots with this title, taking more influence from games focused on item collecting like Banjo Kazooie, while returning to the open level design of Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine. The level designs are brilliant, and the capture abilities introduce a ton of new mechanics and play styles to each level. Probably the best 3D Mario title to date.

Mario Odyssey is just so good and clever in level design. So many interesting locations and new enemies to fight. The new power of taking over enemies replaces the suits from previous Mario's and it it is fine.
The graphics are acceptable and serviceable, you can see where they cut corners but it is a full game game on the go and that is awesome in its own right.
Please pick it up if you want a great and entertaining game. Worth every penny.

Borrowed this game from the library to see if it was worth buying. It sure is. Bought this for my grandson for a Christmas present. He's gonna love it.

This game is surprisingly fun. There are so many iterations of Mario, but this adventure is unique. Graphics and concept are super cool. The adventure game play in the different worlds are really clever. Only downside is that is is a fairly easy game to beat. The "2nd player" capability of Cappy isn't really a multiplayer feature - it's pretty much a single player game with the hat being able to take out some mushrooms. Still fun.

It's amazing. The next great Mario adventure had arrived. That's all there is to it..... they really know how to up the Annie at nintendo.... it's a little hard for the little ones to really grasp, so it's probably a good idea to sit with them and assist some of they're 7 years or younger id say... kinda tricky is all. Still super easy to play overall.

Bought a Switch almost just for this game and its been well worth it. Best Mario I've played in awhile! It's just a blast to play and very easy to pick up.
Another reason for buying the Switch was to get my toddler into gaming. The game is very easy for him to start learning the ropes. He plays with some assistance from myself but has already taken down the first couple bosses. Not to mention he loves being able to be a giant dinosaur!

Really impressed with this game. I have been waiting since the day the Switch was released and I am not disappointed. Some areas are pretty difficult but not any of the ones that are necessary to complete the game. There is also an easier mode with directions to help keep young players from getting lost. It took me over 20 hours to play through the main story and I have only collected about 25% of the items so there is plenty more to come.

I bought this for my 4 year old son, at first he struggled but after a week or so he had the contols down very well. I played the entire game through with him. It was a super fun game and tons of after game content. Highly recommend it!

At first glance this game looks like any other 3D Mario game. You can ground pound, triple jump, long jump, etc. The fun actually comes from the new mechanic introduced to this game. Thanks to your new buddy Cappy, Mario is able to actually "borrow" the bodies of the baddies, as well as other things in the environment (cactus, rock, pine tree, etc.). So, what's so interesting about taking control of an enemy's body? Well that's simple, you get to actually use whatever abilities they have! You see that bullet bill? How about flying around and crashing into blocks to reach new areas? Or how about those goomba over there! Try making a goomba tower to get that hard to reach power moon* (*which have replaced stars from Mario 64). The list goes on but I want people to be able to try things out for themselves and be surprised.
I would definitely recommend this game to anyone! I love this game as an adult, I can only imagine the reaction I would have if I was a child playing the game.
If you were on the fence about buying this game, do yourself a favor and just buy it. You won't regret it.
P.S. The story is, once again, bowser kidnaps peach... No award in storytelling or originality, but you won't even care.

Super Mario Odyssey is a must have game for the Switch. It's hard to put down, but easy to play in short bursts and really take advantage of the portability of the console. There's a lot to do, and it all controls relatively well, and has the polish expected of Nintendo. This feels like the return to Mario 64 and Sunshine that I'd personally been wanting for some time, with the Galaxy games not quite scratching that itch for me.

This game was a giant nostalgic punch in the face! I mean that in all the best ways possible! Many things in this game serve as a giant love letter to old Nintendo fans, especially those that played Mario 64. The game has lots of well thought out worlds, and plenty of challenging moons to collect. This is easily one of the best games on the Switch and I highly recommend it to everyone! This game is worth the switch alone!
