Definitely worth buying, especially because of the switch's capabilities for 2 player and the detached joycons. Each kingdom is unique and this game pleases my inner adventurer by requiring exploration!

Mario. Need I say more? Every Nintendo since the dawn of the NES has had a Mario title. THe latest 2017 iteration is fun and very challenging.

It's been a while since playing a new Mario game. The last one was Super Mario 3D World on Wii U. It looks and plays good. By playing Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy 1/2 in the past, the moves are easy to relearn except for the hat moves. Those got a bit to learn. My son loves playing it. It is a short game story wise, but you are able to play more to gather all of the moon pieces. I'd give it 5 stars, but now getting the extra moon pieces is becoming a chore.

This game is so much fun! The graphics are nice, and the game makes you remember how the older versions were, since there are parts where you get the 2D version... You won't regret your purchase!!! :)

I have been playing Mario games almost all of my life. From the NES classics, all the way to now, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones to hit store shelves. There's a ton of content, great gameplay, a lot of throwbacks, and mechanics unique to this particular Mario title. My only complaint is that most of the moons are way too easy to get. Platforming is solid, but Mario has so many tricks in his hat now that getting from point A to point B is more about how you want to get there, rather than can you make it there with the right moves and skilled execution. Even with the lack of challenge I had a blast with this title, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I had a lot of fun with this game, but of course, it's Mario. While it gave me more than expected, it also gave me less. Same story, but different setting as usual. The capture ability is cool. The levels are good, but some kind of dull. And like most Mario games, the real challenge shows up later. And it will still have plenty of surprises and stuff to do, even after beating it in just a few hours. I had a good time, and I would recommend it. I'll put it as a 9/10.

I grew up a Sega kid and then graduated to Playstation. Never really touched Nintendo stuff and only played at relatives houses. I preordered the OLED model and wanted to build a library out before it dropped. Let me tell you. This game right here reignited my love for gaming. I've had a blast playing this game! exploring, searching for power moons, and just generally platforming have been fantastic. If you have a switch, buy this right now. If you don't have a switch, buy one and get this!

Mario partners with his hat to get back the princess. The game will give you a taste of the past Mario games as well as the new from possessing a frog to possessing a T-Rex with fun at every corner.

Mario Odyssey continues Nintendo's win streak of amazing 3D Mario games while artfully innovating on a formula they've used so successfully over so many games. The controls in Odyssey work a lot like the other Mario 3D games like Galaxy, but with the capture dynamic you effectively get to play as a whole host of different characters, depending on what you capture. You still get that delightful feeling of discovery that you get with most Mario games, but it's even more fun to play as some of the iconic Mario enemies like a Bullet Bill or Cheep Cheep. Odyssey isn't particularly hard so it's really about enjoying the ride and exploring, but that is more than enough to make it a 5/5.

A truly entertaining game that holds up well among it's predecessor's. You might have heard the game is a bit on the short side but there's a ton of post game content and exploration is rewarded.

I have really enjoyed the past run of Mario games, especially Mario 3D World for the Wii U. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 were also great games, but the whole galaxy and spherical level idea could be frustrating at times. This new Mario game takes a lot of those ideas and mashes them together into a great experience. It's fun for all ages and breathes new life not only into the Mario franchise but platform titles in general. Exploring the lush variety of worlds is fun and enjoyable. You never know when you'll find a nook, or cranny, here and there and discover new things. The costume collection is a fun addition and you can't wait to explore to see what new items you can unlock for our hero.

Super Mario Odyssey does not feel like a sequel to Super Mario 64, as many have suggested, and while it contains numerous references to previous Mario games, it is very much its own experience. Mario controls similarly enough to past 3D Mario games to feel familiar. The cap attacks feel such like a natural addition to Mario's move set that it seems surprising they had never been there before. It would be nice if some of the cap moves did not require motion controls, but that is hardly a deal-breaker. Having the capture mechanic replace nearly all classic Mario power-ups seems an odd choice at first, but makes for much more fun gameplay since using a special power is limited by your ability to use captured creatures rather than waiting to find the right “?” block. The main campaign of Odyssey is great, encouraging you to spend a fair bit of time to get to know each kingdom before you move on to the next, but not requiring you to complete each kingdom's story in any particular order, or collect the non-story-related Power Moons within a kingdom in any order, except that certain areas only become accessible as you progress through the story. Where the game falters somewhat is the post-story content. Where past 3D Mario games, other “collectathon” games, and other open-world games have a variety of things to collect, Odyssey pretty much only has purple coins and Power Moons, and while plenty of Power Moons are rewards for platforming challenges or other fun side quests, many require menial tasks, like throwing your hat at a particular pillar, waiting for a particular animal, or pressing the jump button enough times in a jump rope minigame—tasks that test your patience more than your skill. In this particular respect, TL;DR: Super Mario Odyssey is a new Mario experience that combines Mario's traditional 3D moveset with new mechanics, and a more open world. I might not rate it an 11/10, but I still highly recommend it.

My favorite game on the switch. So many things to explore and hidden areas to find. Graphics are great on my 4K tv. Not sure why they get a bad review by some. I mean. It’s not Xbox X 4K. Lol.
