I bought this during the Mario Day sale in early March for my 6-year old son's Nintendo Switch. He really enjoys playing it, and I enjoy playing the two player mode with him to help him if he gets stuck. The game features Mario and his new sidekick hat, "Cappie." The game has lots of fun puzzles, and mixes well the ability to play in an open 3D area against enemies that 30 to 40 year old parents will find familiar, if not downright nostalgic, from their childhoods.

After a period of subpar “3D” Mario games, Mario Odyssey feels both excitingly new and nostalgic. Mario has many new movement techniques, along with the new “capture” ability. This allows for more exploration options than ever before. Mario Odyssey is also a throwback to classics such as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. There are unique and colorful environments, as well as new NPC races. This game is a must buy for any Nintendo Switch owner, it is one of the best games on any console right now.

Super Mario Odyssey transcends the realm of platformers and Super Mario as we know it. You join Mario and his trusty companion "Cappy" throughout 11 different universes, all the while trying to collect moons to power your world traveling aircraft called the "Odyssey" to thwart Bowsers evil plan of marrying Princess Peach. Once you think you reach the end of the game, nuh uh, you haven't. Hours upon hours of endless gameplay. The first play through is relatively simple....but after that, buckle up!

I rarely found myself not smiling like an idiot while playing Super Mario Odyssey. The game is gorgeous, the hat-possession mechanic is adorable, ridiculous, and introduces some great gameplay experiences, and the overall story and tone are light-hearted and goofy.
My only qualm is that the bosses - while initially creative - become very repetitive... literally, they repeat about 5-6 boss battles. Which was only disappointing because the rest of the game was insanely creative in all other aspects.

Basically, title.
This is far and away the best Mario game I've played since the first time I sat down with the 64. The controls are tight, the locations are great, and the gameplay is incredible. Do you see some crazy place way up high that it looks like you could maybe abuse mechanics and get to? Go up there, there are probably coins because Nintendo knows that you would do that.
The game is very intuitive and perfect for advanced gamers and newcomers alike. There is something for everyone.

Super Mario Odyssey is hours and hours of fun. It is a callback to the Super Mario 64, where would run around vast levels and collect Power Stars by completing a levels missions to progress. With a focus on exploration and making each Power Moon a simple task, Odyssey is perfect for bit-sized play sessions or someone on the go. There's tons of platforming and puzzle solving and the game never got boring. There is so much to love and I am glad I had purchased Super Mario Odyssey.

Mario is Back and baby is this game fun. There is a lot of exploration in the game the controls are simple enough but some of the motion controls are a little frustrating at times to get precise. Game has countless hours of content with the many different worlds to explore.

Highly recommended if you like platformers. Can be a bit challenging at times. If you really want a challenge, you should try to acquire all the moons. The controls aren't as tight as I would like. Many of my deaths were because of the controls, which can be a bit frustrating. Overall a good game though.
