Difficulty is a bit much for younger kids, variety of motion controls are hard to use when playing on the go.

It's a Mario game, but it is very fun and can be challenging. But totally worth it. If you are a fan of Mario, you will be a fan of this game! The best part (so far) has been the character takeovers when you use the hat on enemies. Haven't played two player yet, so I can't give an opinion on that. And the other switch game that I own is breath of the wild so it's a good game to swap between if you need a mental break from either if your stuck on a quest.

At first I thought the game was short and simple and not much to do after beating the final bowser. Boy, was I wrong, beating the game opened up a whole new set of trials. To my pleasant surprise the game got much more depth and difficulty after completing the main story line. There's roughly 1000 moons to collect and the last 700 are much more fun and enticing to get. Must buy for anyone with a switch especially so if you have ever liked a Mario game.

Yo it’s me Mario. This game is much better than I thought effect is the best 3-D Mario game made by Nintendo as of yet. The graphics for the switch up very well done. The controlling could be just a little bit better but easy to get used to. The music and sound is perfect. If you’re a true Mario fan then this is what game you don’t wanna mess. I picked it up on a deal

Man, what a game- this is easily one of my favorite Mario titles since the Galaxy game’s, and may even be one of my fav games of the year- gorgeous graphics, great music, plenty of charm and character, super-tight controls, and tons of interesting gameplay mechanics! This game is for any Jumpman-fan (ooh, that’s catchy- don’t let me forget that) who feels that the series has lost its creativity in recent years- the game takes an extremely nonlinear, open-ended approach similar to Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, and it pays off because this is one of the most fresh and inventive Mario games to come out in a while, largely thanks to a slew of creative mechanics like Mario’s hat, capturing enemies and of course the utterly fab outfits that you can wear- work that sombrero, Mario!! There’s a heck of a lot to do in this game- over 800 power moons in the game (which are basically power stars/shines). Only 100 are needed to complete the main story, and 500 in order for other stuff (an alter net ending I think? I honestly have no idea, haven’t beat the game yet), but that doesn’t matter because the game is so dang fun you’ll want to go hunting for every single moon and every single outfit.
If I have any gripes, it’s that some moves can only be performed with the Joy Con’s motion controls, but that’s a pretty minor gripe at least for me- they really aren’t that intolerable and even a bit intuitive. Just wish I could climb poles faster without shaking my left hand like a maniac in the middle of public, though. Even despite this gripe, Mario Odyssey is a must-play for ANY Switch owner- definitely one of the killer apps for the system thus far along with Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Snipperclips. Get it ASAP!!

I bought this for my 4 year old son, at first he struggled but after a week or so he had the contols down very well. I played the entire game through with him. It was a super fun game and tons of after game content. Highly recommend it!

This game has influence from every other Mario game before it, and it's amazing. From the 2D sections inspired from Super Mario Bros., to the open-world format of Super Mario 64, and many audio and visual cues of many other Mario games, this game is seriously packed with detail! There's so much do to with this game, I'll be playing this for a while, and will probably find myself replaying it soon after, now that I have a better grasp of the controls.

It's so easy to get sucked into this game, and I find myself playing several hours at a time! I love how vibrant the settings are, and there's just so much to explore in each world. One of my favourite things is possessing new enemies and inanimate objects. It keeps the gameplay from ever getting stale. Best one is the dinosaur, of course. Mowing everything down is incredibly satisfying.
Definitely recommended for long time and new Mario fans.
