Very different from other Mario games, but still a lot of fun. My obly complaint is that there are too many moons to collect if you are a conpletionist. It really becomes a chore.

Making his solo debut on the Nintendo Switch Mario has leapt and bound further than he has in the past. You start the game with everything you'll need to make it through the entire game. Its only based upon skill level that you can get to some hidden places. There is a lot of replay value as their are tons of Moons, an in game collectable item, as well as coin collecting for various suits Mario can wear on his adventure. I highly recomend this entry into the Mario franchise to new comers and fans of all ages.

Great 3D Mario game. Beautiful graphics, with a great platforming mechanics, and great music tracks, that could* easily stand up next to Mario 64, and Super Mario Sunshine.
*I say could because I only really have two gripes with the game.
First is how short it is Story wise. I understand its a Mario game, and it can be hard to stretch out a story of rescuing a princess. Super Mario Odyssey just seems way shorter than expected. I was able to beat the story in about a day, only getting the bare minimum needed to move on to the next area.
The second is the lack of variety with the bosses. You're introduced to the only 5 bosses you'll ever fight within the first few worlds, and then those 5 bosses are just re-used over and over for the rest of the story. Mechanics for these bosses don't really change either. they just add more things to dodge.
Its for these reasons, I feel its not quite as memorable as Super Mario 64, or Super Mario Sunshine, but It's still a wonderful game, filled with nostalgia for old time fans, as well as a bunch of cool new content for new fans.
All in all its a great game, just wish it was longer with a larger boss variety.

Ever since the Mario Galaxy games and Sunshine Mario before that, all of the Mario games have felt like bland reboots of older versions. With Mario Odyssey I would say that there is new life in the series. The gameplay feels familiar and new at the same time. I like the options of playing in handheld, tabletop or tv mode. Although, if you really want to play the game as the designers intended, you need to play tabletop or tv mode with a joycon in each hand. The game will remind you of what you are missing out on with pop-ups if you choose to play in handheld mode. I have played the majority of the game in handheld mode, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. The fun for me has been exploring each kingdom looking for all the secrets.

I wish I could say the trailers had prepared me for Super Mario Odyssey, but they had not. It's been better than any of my expectations. It's like the first time I played Super Mario 64 as a kid, restoring that feeling of unbridled joy exploring entirely new worlds, entirely new play style. Cappy is downright joyous of a companion, cheerful and upbeat and encouraging in fun, and the platforming and transformation his abilities bring are an entirely new concept in gameplay for me. I can't recommend it enough!

I played Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U and I didn’t enjoy it, so I was on the fence to buy this game. When reviews started to be released all of them were amazing so I bought it. I don’t regret it at all, there are few to no load times and the story is very great. Nintendo did a good job putting all of the pieces together, they made finding all of the collectible items very enjoyable and I don’t usually liking going back and collecting every single thing. This game is the best game for the switch so far.

While I was a large fan of the "Land" series I, like many others, were waiting for a true successor to the SM64 formula and Odyssey certainly does the job. It doesn't feel like a true sequel but instead a culmination of all the best aspects of Mario titles over the past 20 years and there's never a dull moment. I truly enjoyed my time with this game and while the motion control aspects and some recycled tasks keep this from over taking SM64 in my opinion, this is one of the best video games you'll ever play.

As a grown man who has not indulged in video games in years, I was apprehensive as this purchase was also for my nieces and nephews.
Trust me when I tell you you cannot go wrong with this game. Easy enough to plug and okay, hard enough (there is no booklet) to make you use your brain (open environment where you have to search and collect moons), and nostalgic enough for those who played Mario in the '80s (Nintendo seamlessly and amazingly infused old Mario game play with 3-D environment). Wow!!!

Nintendo has really done a great job once again making another Mario Game. This Game is a lot of fun and each land is So BIG that there is so much to do prior to beating the bad guy in each level. I haven't beaten the game yet and in all honesty probably won't lol! The truth is that I am just a Casual Gamer and focus more on my job, I still have N64 games that I haven't beaten yet lol! Anyways this game is really fun and I'd you need help getting somewhere in a level, YouTube is the go to for information.
