This game has been so entertaining for my 5 yr old! Loves that he could beat different “bosses” in the game!

Loved playing this game. Even though it is a kids game there is a great deal of figuring things out. The game isn't linear so you can explore and do things at your leisure. I've always been a Super Mario fan and I enjoyed this game as much as I have enjoyed all their other versions ever since I was a kid.

This game is an absolute joy to play. I have been a fan of Super Mario games ever since I received my first gaming console, the Nintendo 64. While I hold Super Mario 64 in high regards, this title might be my new favorite.
The controls feel great, frame rate runs at a smooth 60fps, fantastic level design, wonderful art style and great music come together to make a solid game. Most important of all, this game is fun to play. This game introduces Cappy, a sentient hat which you can use to control several different enemies as well as residents of the levels. Each thing you capture helps you gain access to new area of the levels as you search for Power Moons. For example taking control over a frog provides you with the ability to reach high areas thanks to the frogs exceptional jumping abilities.
While I've played several 3-d Mario games in the past, this new game play mechanic helps make this adventure feel fresh. I recommend this game to anyone who has been a fan of Mario games and anyone who is looking for a fun game to play on their Switch.

If you have a Nintendo Switch, then this game is a must buy. If you don’t already own a Switch, Super Mario Odyssey is a perfect excuse to buy one. This game brings back memories to Super Mario 64 for the N64 and is a great game to play. The graphics and unique game play makes this an awesome game to own.

I’ve always loved Mario. This one is as much fun as I remember having playing Mario64 as a kid. My 4 year old can play it too. I think assist mode worked well for him, then he got better than me (embarrassing). We have had a lot of fun playing collaboratively, good father and son time.

I bought the game "for my son" who is 6 years old. He can't put it down. It reminds me of the wonder and amazement I experienced while playing Mario 64 when I was a kid.
Nintendo is killin' it right now. Zelda BoTW was amazing and Odyssey is also fantastic. While BoTW was more realistic and the colors somewhat muted, Odyssey is bright, colorful and vivid. The worlds are very distinct in design. The occasional 2D platforming is a nostalgic nod to the past and helps to break up the gameplay style. So far it's not a very hard game so I think it might be geared more towards kids. This will, by no means, stop me from playing it.
One surprising feature is the ability to have 2 players play simultaneously. The second player gets to control the hat. The only thing that detracted from this was the joy cons lagging a lot and the camera angle is a big problem. The lag is a problem even when playing other games and needs to be addressed by Nintendo.
I would definitely recommend this title, it will join the other Marios in the gaming halls of fame.

It's utterly amazing how Nintendo can inject new life and mechanics into 30+ year old franchises, yet also make it feel like a love letter to past games! This is one of the greatest, if not possibly the greatest Mario game so far. If you like open world 3D platformers in the slightest, you need this game!

If you need to by one game for the system pick this or breath of the wild. They are both absolute masterpieces. I came in with decent expectations and was blown away with how much they were able to fit in the game it really keeps you wanting to play the game again and again. Replay value is great also.

This is my first Mario game since Super Mario 64. I am really enjoying the game! I like how you don't restart a level every time you find a moon. And some moons are very tricky to find, which is great for replayability and longevity. The graphics are great and the controls are relatively smooth.

3D Mario games are always a big deal, and Super Mario Odyssey is no different. Marking the return of the sand-box style found in earlier installments, this game sets the bar higher than ever as you travel to unique and fun worlds. The hook this time is that Mario's cap lets you control enemy creatures, making for some unique abilities. Though it feels a little odd not having the standard power-ups like fire flowers, it all still feels very Mario.
The game looks gorgeous, has great sound and music, and will keep you busy for a long time. The story is your standard fare, but there are so many neat things in the game between the worlds you visit, the enemies and their powers, boss fights, and the scale of the game - it truly feels like Nintendo saves their best ideas for 3D Mario. This is a must-own for the Nintendo Switch, right up there with Breath of the Wild.

Super Mario Odyssey offers a wide variety of gameplay that should appeal to all types of players. It's a 3D platforming adventure that mixes a lot of the best elements of previous Mario games, such as the exploration from Super Mario 64 and the platforming elements of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World.
The goal of the game is to collect Power Moons, of which there are hundreds hidden in all sorts of places. Some are easy to find while others can be quite challenging, offering something for everyone. The main game can be completed without finding every moon, which means even inexperienced players should be able to beat the game. There are also some extra challenges aimed at more hardcore players, and if one chooses to find all of the moons, the game offers plenty of hours of fun.
The controls are easy to pick up, but still offer enough depth to find new ways of getting around a world. Simply moving Mario around can often be fun in itself. The presentation values are also top notch, with colorful graphics and nice music.

This game is a blast from start to finish. The colors, the music, the gameplay... all are great. There are a TON of moons to collect in this game, and while the bare minimum needed to proceed can be collected extremely easily, it's going after those hard-to-find moons that provides the most challenge and fun. Some of them really test your problem solving skills and platforming dexterity. The variety of locations keep things feeling fresh, and the new mechanics provided by the hat are excellent. Both the capture mechanic and new jumping abilities Mario gets from this sidekick add a lot of new potential to the "same old" Mario formula. It never gets old possessing enemies and figuring out how to use their unique abilities to tackle some new environmental puzzle or challenge. There's a lot here to love for all ability levels. It's also great for quick sessions (you can easily get a couple moons in 5-10 minutes to get a sense of accomplishment), or for longer sessions, clearing an entire kingdom in a few hours. Highly recommended for anyone!

I bought this for my grandkids because it just happened to be on sale. Oh my.........had I known how much they would love it and how hard it is to get them to turn it off and go to bed, I would gladly have paid double. It's a great game for all ages! (this grandma even plays when they go home ^.~)

Just finished the main game and beat bowser. I even took my time and grabbed extra stars throughout my journey and I'm still only a third of the way to getting all of them! The scale of this game is amazing and I know i will have a ton of fun searching for all the rest of the stars and coins to collect

Mario Odyssey is AMAZING! It has to be hands-down the best mario games thus far. There is so much to do, and once you complete the main story - It feels like such a big accomplishment. Once you finish the storyline, there is still much more to do. I highly recommend this game to everyone of all ages.

Like almost all Mario games, they're great. This one is no different. Odyssey is very fun, and has a lot to do and discover. Definitely has replay value. Not very challenging, but enough to keep you engaged for sure. You need to play this game through at least once if you own a switch.

Odyssey goes back to the exploration of Mario 64 and Sunshine as opposed to the more linear levels of the more recent 3D Mario games. This isn’t as open as Zelda, but definitely pulls some from it as well. The best Mario game I’ve played in years, and world variety is greater this time around, as well.

This game is full of surprises. I'm not a good platformer gamer, but I really enjoyed the game. I thought the "collecting moon" thing can be repetitive, but it's apparently not. Each puzzle has been quite unique so far. And also, this game really pushes Switch to its limit. The graphics are stunning.
