Reminds me of the good old Mario 64 days with controls and relatively open world. Not super challenging, to be honest, but very entertaining and lots of interesting gimmicks with "possessing" different types of characters for their unique abilities. I particularly love the occasional opportunities to play in 2D old skool, complete with retro music! Highly recommended overall. 2-player mode is kind of useless, btw.

This game is SO much fun! I’ve played all the Mario games my whole life, but this is definitely one of my favorites. It goes so in depth in the places you visit and the storyline line is fun and lighthearted but the puzzles can be really difficult and it balances out so well. Adore this game!!!

It's very charming and it's fun to poke around in the various worlds. It didn't quite catch me like Mario Galaxy did, though. While I enjoy other open-world games I think Mario works best with tightly focused levels instead of big worlds. My favorite world so far has been one of the smallest ones and I don't think that's a coincidence.
I think part of my issue is that its not that satisfying to find "secrets". You're expected to search around for stuff-- that's the whole point of the game. So when you find something, even if it seemed a little more hidden, you've just found another moon like you're supposed to. In other games where your goal is to get to the end of the level, if you find something along the way you really feel like you've made a discovery and its much more satisfying.
It's still fun to play though. It feels a bit like a Banjo-Kazooie collectathon, but on a bigger scale and actually good.

I bought this for my 5 year old nephew for his birthday. The game is fun and easy to play even for an new player. You can expect all the great Mario features and it is a great game!

Bought the Switch and most of the big games for it as soon as I could and enjoyed them. But then Odyssey came out and blew them all out of the water. The new mechanics that many familiar with Super Mario 64 and Sunshine love with whole new many elements leave new fun and stellar gameplay with every new level. Beware, the level when Pauline sings might bring tears to your eyes. Potential best game of 2017 anyone?

The recent Mario games have been fantastic and this one is no exception. The more recent games have been straight forward in getting from point A to point B but this one takes it back to the Super Mario 64 days where we're allowed to explore and take whichever routes we can find in order to find the power moons. And as someone who grew up on Super Mario 64, I'm absolutely loving the choice to allow us to explore

Odyssey is a fun game and still finds a way to do new things with Mario in his search for Princess Peach. The worlds are different and offer challenges throughout them. The boss battles are entertaining. The game looks great and being able to throw you hat or take control of other characters is another fun aspect. Overall a real fun game.

Just when you think Nintendo is done in this industry ... They go and show you why no matter how critical ppl are on whatever new console they come out with, they are still innovative on the new Mario games ..this ladies and gentlemen is a must play for any videogame enthusiast..go and pick up a Nintendo switch (actually has more than a decent library now) because the console is worth it for this game alone !!!

Don't know where to start, this game is phenomenal. An open world feel with lots of exploration to pass the time. Great story line with all the memorable characters one expects to meet in a Mario game. Add amiibo and the ride gets that much better. Definitely a nuance in modern gaming with a splash of just enough nostalgia to tug at any diehard Mario fanboy or girls heart. 10/10 for me and I'm sure for you too.

This game is truly so fun and amazing! I got the switch to play this and I’m not disappointed at all. It can be aggravating to keep getting killed trying to get some elusive power moons but it’s worth it when you finally get them haha. So much you can do in it. I hope they make a sequel for it. A must buy for any switch owner

It seems like everytime Nintendo goes all in to create a new Mario game, they hit it out of the park. Consistently creating a Mario game that is all the same we've seen and played before, yet making it so fresh and new to play we can't help but rack up the hours going through.
Speaking of, this is a great bang for buck game, as even when the main story is done, you realize how much more you have to play!
