Perfect Mario Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Odyssey is a fantastic Mario Game which encourages exploration and experimentation while lessening frustration. Doing away with the traditional lives system enables players to relax, enjoy, and most importantly complete the game. Even included is an easier guidance mode for younger/newer players. It's obvious Nintendo wants everyone to to enjoy and complete the whole game. Graphically it's gorgeous and does away with power up suits for 'capturing enemies and items in the environment. This opens up the player to a multitude of fun scenarios that never have happened before. It runs fantastically in portable mode as well...i usually got around 3 hrs a charge on the internal battery. Mario Odyssey is another system seller for the Switch and is reason enough alone to buy one. I could recommend it enough!

Everything you've wanted and more
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have any doubt about getting this game and you enjoy platformers or exploration type of games, you can slap those doubts away immediately. Super Mario Odyssey builds itself from all of the previous 3D (and to some extent 2D) games. It has the right amount of elements from each and it compliments Mario's newest feature/gimmick, cappy. The keyword for this game is "surprise". No matter how long I've been playing, the gameplay and exploration never gets stale. There are many things to discover and do that they can't be listed in this review. My only minor gripe with the game is oddly its controls. While many will tell you that motion controls are optional, there are actually a few moons that will require the use for them (ableit, very very very briefly). An improvement over Galaxy's, but still annoying.

A Great Mario Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited too long to pick this up. Super Mario Odyssey is a fantastic game with all the wonderful worlds you can imagine. The mechanics with the hat work really well, and all of the mechanics in the game are so integrated into the core experience. It doesn't feel like anything was added as a last minute decision. The controls are normally very tight, but I did have the infrequent problem of jumping in the wrong direction or having to move the camera to see where I needed to go. It's a small issue, but it makes collecting some of the moons more difficult. That aside, it is great on the Switch, and I can play it on my TV or take it with me. If you like Mario or you are looking for a superb game, this will be great for adults or kids who want to have fun.

Lives up to the acclaim
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey is the latest anticipated 3D platformer from Nintendo that lives up to the Mario series' lofty expectations. The game rolls all the positives of the series together in an excellent blend of platforming fun. There are multiple large worlds to explore with dozens of collectables items in each of them. You'll want to keep exploring these levels with the smooth controls the game gives you in the form of multiple types of walks, runs, jumps, and, thanks to your newest sidekick Cappy, transformations. There's plenty of new things to discover in the game even after you beat the story, making Super Mario Odyssey an easy recommendation. This game really is a must-have for owners of the Switch and both longtime Mario fans and newcomers.

2 player game only 1 Mario??
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, it’s true Nintendo has done it again by keeping this ageless Mario vs Bowser-rescue the princess theme alive and strong. In this version you’ll use ALL the features of your new switch, plus the added twist of a 2nd player joining you as Mario’s hat or (alternate item) At first glance it sounds silly, right? Think again, it’s ingenious how much a 2nd player can help you take advantage of levels to achieve mission success. Also, allowing you to reach hidden items you never could reach on your own. The story mode was easy to defeat, approximately 8-10 hours total. Nintendo compensated for this by adding addicting challenges and items to find as you revisit all the Oddesey Worlds you’ve unlocked. This is a must have game for any gamer, and fan of this never dying franchise. Happy gaming!

Iconic Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a must have for Nintendo and/or Mario lovers. The open world play is great, the graphics are amazing, and I'm constantly going back through and seeing/finding things I didn't see before. You won't regret this one!

Mario Odyssey is a fun filled trip!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mario Odyssey is an excellent Mario title! Nintendo proves once again that you don't need top tier graphics to make an exciting and beautiful game. Every location you visit is gorgeous in its own way. The game's use of textures really make every little detail pop out at you. The platforming in the game is the best yet. The controls are tight and collectibles are challenging to obtain at times. You can play the game how you would like to play it. If you just want to beat the game and do the minimum, you're able to, but if you really want to take the time to find every nook and cranny, the game rewards you for that. I can't rave enough about this game. It's very open and, while some locations are linear, you often pick you own path and methods of getting to your destination.

Great Game for adults or kids
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic game! My son, 8, absolutely loves it and we even play together (in two player one person is Mario and one person is his hat). Great story line with the game as well. I'm not usually a fan of open world games where you have to find things - too easy to get bogged down - but this one keeps the pace up nicely.

Mario Odyssey is great for kids and old timers
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter and I have loved playing this. For her it has tons to explore, even in the earlier levels which are easier. So even if she gets frustrated by the hard levels there's still tons to do in the easy ones. For me it reminds me of my days playing Mario 64 but much much bigger.

One of the best Mario games of all time!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey is a stunning platformer, and a welcome return to the more open, exploration style of past classics like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine. There are so many great surprises and secrets in the game, and I’m not even close to being finished with the game yet. The soundtrack and visuals are wonderful, the former being among my favorite game soundtracks already. It is a very hard choice for me between this game and Breath of the Wild for GOTY, as I’m sure it will be for many people and media outlets. While ultimately I think Breath of the Wild will be GOTY for me, Odyssey comes awfully close. Quite simply, Odyssey is the best Mario game at least since the Galaxy games, and it’s on its way to surpassing them as my favorite 3D Mario game ever.

Another Great One
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the years, I’ve spent more time playing Super Mario Bros than probably any other game I own. The classsic NES Game has been my go to and from time to time, I still find something new. I’ve been trying to beat the speed record for as long as I can remember and it’s still just as much fun today as it was the first time I played it. Now comes along Odyssey. This game is by far as much fun to play and enjoyable as Super Mario Bros. The graphics and sound are spot on, the gameplay is smooth and I’ve been addicted to it the above other great games out right now because of the fun factor it delivers. The kids are hooked and enjoy the modern feel it brings. I highly recommend this to anybody who remembers the old days. You won’t be disappointed.

What a Joy to play and it only gets better.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first started to play Mario Odyssey, it took me a while to figure out the controls and as with other Mario games my goal was to beat the game. The journey was wonderful with so many surprises and beautiful 3D and 2D worlds. Beating the game is not very hard, the journey is all smiles. After getting to the end, I took a short break and then a month later started it up again. I was very much surprised by home much fun I was having discovering more and more moons and revisiting kingdoms. With every new moon I was having more and more fun and I am still loving every moment. There are still plenty of moons for me to find and the game difficulty is ramping up and when you are able to finally go though a tough part, it is so satisfying.

20 out of 10. Amazing experience.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gaming industry has changed a lot. This game brings absolute fun, not just for adults but also young ones too. Very entertaining. Mario never fails to bring the fun right away. The amount of possibilities of moving around, the open areas, the hat idea is fabulous as well. One of the best selling franchise of all times. It is very hard to hate such an amazing game this is.

The ultimate Mario experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch is phenomenal. The graphics are crisp, the character animations are fluid, and the game runs at a consistent 60 frames per second. The new gameplay mechanic of using your hat as a weapon and temporarily possessing NPC's to creatively reach goals is very fun. Being awarded Power Moons for your efforts and the little animation that Mario does never gets old. The only gripe I have is that while not "required", some moves can only be done with the JoyCons removed and in your hands a-la Wiimotes. This makes portable play in handheld mode a bit more challenging, but it's still a blast. A definite must-have for any Mario fan and really anyone who owns a Nintendo Switch.

Platforming Perfection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Mario Odyssey represents a return to the classic exploration style Mario platformers like Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, with the key improvement that completing challenges doesn't kick you back to a hub (though the major plot oriented ones do put you back at the entrance to the level). There's lots to see and do and each themed "Kingdom" is distinct with unique mechanics and inhabitants. There's dozens of challenges in each level (typically 50+) many of which require a combination of thoughtful exploration, puzzle solving and some quick reflexes. If the recent 3D Mario platforming games seemed too linear and you've been missing the open world style gameplay, this is the game you've been waiting for.

Mario succeeds again!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After so many years and so many Super Mario games the possibility of the game becoming stale is a real possibility. Once again though Nintendo manages to deliver another great game with the latest outing for Mario. It is great new adventure and technical improvements with elements of older Mario games throughout that bring back great memories and feelings from the past. From the soundtrack to the game play old emotions will bubble to the surface. Even some of the frustration you hated. Thankfully they have included a mode to help get past some of the more difficult parts because i know my reflexes aren't getting better with age. A great game and necessary addition to the growing Switch library.
