Good game, but content is too short

I guess as expected of a Mario game, you go from beginning to end in a short time. But, FUN TO PLAY! And, I like the original game visuals combined with newer aspects. This was a gift to my nephew, but I still got to play some.

My favorite Mario game is 3D Land and I haven't played it in years, so my opinion basically means nothing towards this game.
I finally got a switch and luckily this game was on sale when I got it. For basically 40 bucks I knew it was a good deal. tldr; it's a good game. Really, it's a great time killer. I'm already 15 hours in and I've got dozens more planned. My gripes with it though, honestly make me think this game is way overhyped.
Again, this is a good game, don't get me wrong. Its got some great music and Im glad Nintendo went back to their roots of an open-world type mario game. Its just... In all honesty its not the game for me. The message that I've picked up from everywhere else online is that this game is awesome and anyone who plays it will love it. But I honestly think this is a 3D World type situation. Massive hype when it came out because it was the Mario game of the console, but years later is revealed to be a really good game rather than an astounding one.
Maybe this game just isn't for me. And if you love open-world Mario games, you'll love this one. If Super Mario 64 and Sunshine are your jam, and you don't dislike the other Mario games, you'll love this one. But for me personally, and from my experience, this game is a time killer Ill forget about very quickly.
This just isn't the Mario game for me. Are you going to like it? If everyone else I've heard play this game is right, then yea, you'll love it. But if you're like me and you prefer Mario's later titles that focus more on side-scrolling, you won't have the absolutely astounding time everyone else seems to be.

Nintendo has done it again. Somehow they can keep churning out Mario games with fresh new ideas and game ideas. New worlds to explore, new abilities and a ton of stuff to collect if you want to take the time to look around. The game controls great and is just such a fun change of pace from the drab games that have come out recently. For sure pick this up for older fans and new.

I have always loved Mario, but have never been sucked into a Mario enough for a marathon game. With the Switch, the Mario formula has never been better for me.
The incredible platforming, music, level design and sheer sense of fun is perfect for 30 minute play sessions on the go. Another "must own" title for the Switch in what has been a surprisingly strong first year of games.

When I first heard about Super Mario Odyssy, I was skeptical and didn't think I'd like it. Boy was I wrong. The story is weak, but the kingdom's you visit certainly make up for it. Each kingdom has moons and purple coins to collect so you can unlock new clothes, locations, and little odds and ends to add to your ship. The game is so much fun that I really don't want to put it down

Between the 2D levels and now "traditional" 3D gameplay, Super Mario Odyssey delivers a solid experience to players new and old. With Mario's new hat ability and the open-world concept long missed from Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario 64, there is no feeling of missed experience. The ability to take the same Mario experience on the road as in the home is a great plus as well.

Both my boyfriend and I LOVE this game. and we come from different sides of the gaming worlds. He plays all, and is good at them, i play 5 games and generally suck at most. This meets us perfectly in the middle. not too easy not too hard. I loved it more than I could have imagined. The graphics are beyond gorgeous, and I really enjoy the 3D to 2D to different worlds aspect. 10/10

I bought this game hoping for a great adventure and something I could play on the go! Well,it's so fun I play it constantly and my family loves watching me play and find new stuff too! There are awesome worlds and tons of moons to discover and it's surely a blast to solve the puzzles around gathering coins and moons! In done with the main story, but still have tons left to do!!!

At first, I said to myself, "I'm probably not going to play this very much"... being 30 and all. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised at how fun this Mario is.
Instead of the single-course, single objective route, in this Mario, you can quickly acquire Power Moons (in place of Stars) all within the same area.
Definitely recommend!
5 Stars .. err.. 5 Power Moons!

Super Mario Odyssey continues the string of quality for Mario games from Nintendo. I won't say it's a five star game because the difficulty can be a little uneven, but it looks great, is fun to play and give the player a lot of fun stuff to do.

It’s been a while since I’ve thoroughly enjoyed a platformer game let alone a Mario one. It’s been an absolutely blast finding moons and completing puzzles. Each mission and quest is more satisfying than the previous. The cute Mario outfits are super fun to play around with as well. The soundtrack is also so catchy. This game definitely deserves some Game of the Year loving.

"Why cover the same ground again? ... It goes against my grain to repeat a tale told once, and told so clearly." - Homer, The Odyssey
While Mario may be the same tale told time and time again, Mario Odyssey is covering new ground on the Nintendo Switch and in a wonderful way.
The game play will keep you coming back for more. The" gotta collect em all" mentality is in full effect here, but the kingdoms are so fun and vibrant, you want to explore every nook and cranny.
Overall an amazing upgrade to the 3D Marios and one I enjoyed exploring more than Sunshine or Galaxy. Some retro kingdom DLCs would be a welcome addition as the game is quite short, which is the only negative about Odyssey.
PS - Look online and learn how to do the cappy mid-air dive and jump. It opens up the game and let's you do a lot more exploring.

I'm more a PC/PS4 player.
But nintendo have games that obviously are not on another platforms, like this game.
I absolutelly love it... Yes, it maybe have 'child' graphics, and the console is not so powerfull, but belive me, it worth it.
You can remember those years playing super mario 64, super mario world, or previous games, don't you?.
Just awesome!
