Smash Ultimate is definitely the ultimate super smash bros game with over 70 characters, tons of stages, and lots more. It plays faster than Smash Bros for Wii U and I already like it better. Looks and plays great, and it's fun to play with friends or online.

It's smash on the switch. Compared to Brawl on the Wii this is superior. The roster is the biggest we've seen yet for Smash. The characters are well enough balanced and staged are varied and fun. Highly recommend!

If you've played Smash Bros. since you got the n64 version, this game shows just how much the game has evolved. I am no means a "pro" when it comes to playing Smash Bros. but this game is the best I have played since it's first iteration.
Let this be a disclaimer for all the people who have never played a Smash Bros game before, this game is overwhelming and taking it all in is a task within itself. Look at it this way, you bought a Tesla on the sheer fact that it's an electric car, only to find it has so many features you have to read a manual, but when you finally grasp the aspects of the car the reward is tremendous! So my advise to you is to take in each feature, one by one, and indulge in each of it's aspects. What you will find is a deep and enriching gaming experience that captures what Nintendo is all about, and at the same time you will learn how to truly Smash... your opponent into oblivion.
Like most Smash Bros. enthusiast I loved melee, and deemed it the best of the the series as Brawl ruined my favorite character (fox) and other aspects of what Smash Bros is, but when the Wii U version came out, I loved that game because it was released on the 3DS and I can play Smash Bros. where ever I want when I want and it has an interesting mix of melee and brawl. Now we have Smash Bros. Ultimate and it's on the switch, it's portable like the 3DS version, it looks amazing graphically, and it leans more towards Melee in terms of its gameplay and speed but not so much that it's hard to pick up and play. In other words, it's has the best aspects of the series in a amazing package and did I mention that the switch makes it portable :).
In short, this game is a must have. There is 100's of hours of game play in a small cartridge and is worth your time to invest. Again, if you don't have time, it's portable so you can indulge when ever and where ever you want in what could possibly be, the best switch game yet!

I played a lot of Project M, especially because I thought that was the most balanced both in terms of characters & mechanics. Smash ultimate is based off the Smash 4/Brawl mechanics, but definitely way more fine tuned. It took a while getting used too, but the more I played, the more I felt the mechanics were just a much more balanced, next generation smash. With 75 characters, and more in the future, on the roster, it becomes harder to equally balance all the characters. Although I do think there are a few characters that may be more op than others, I still think they did a great job balancing everyone as best as they could. What is also great is that Nintendo can now update the games in the future, thus allowing them to balance characters in the future. Thus, I feel like this will be the best smash.

Haven't played Smash since High School/early College and this feels like it did back then. Great game, lots of characters, lots of types of games, definitely recommend if you've been into Smash before or interested in checking it out.

I enjoy playing this game with the kids. We can customize the number of opponents and the kids and I can play at the same time. Sometimes it is hard to see all of the characters, especially your own, but it has endless replay value. We loved unlocking characters never knowing which one was next. Although it has taken a back seat to other games, it is still fun to randomly put this game in and see if we can unlock someone new or just claim superiority in the house. While there are move sets and skill can factor in, you can definitely win with 100% button mashing!

It’s years of content, fine-tuned mechanically and polished visually. K Rool, the Inkling, and Ridley—all of the new characters are great. Spirits are like touring a Nintendo museum... Possibly the best Smash yet.

I've been playing the super smash series since it was debuted on nintendo 64. Over the years, the game has evolved to add more characters while also removing some, this game however, every character that has appeared in the past games appear now, and there are new characters with more to come in the future.
When playing the game you only start off with Kirby, so you have to unlock the rest of the characters, through world of light or classic mode. There are plenty of guides out there.
The only issue I'm having currently is some controller input lagging, and the online is NOT good currently.
I do enjoy the game, so I'm sticking with 5 stars. It will give you a lot of playtime between friends and family. Very enjoyable!

Huge Game in a Small Package

As I was preparing to write this piece, I thought to myself, “where do I start?” Super Smash Bros Ultimate is such a huge game, both considered as a stand-alone game and as the climax of an unlikely 20-year franchise.
The original Smash Bros game on the Nintendo 64 was a hit, but it was nothing I ever expected a sequel for. It was the first game where Mario met Kirby and Pikachu, alongside other Nintendo characters and, possibly playing against type, they beat each other up. It was modest cartoony fun, and unlike any other fighting game that came before it.
Now, after sequels on the Gamecube, Wii, and 3DS, the series has grown to have nearly every Nintendo character worth noting, plus several you’ve likely never heard of, PLUS characters from non-Nintendo games, like Snake from Metal Gear, Simon from Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog, and even Ryu and Ken, crossing over from the more traditional fighting game Street Fighter. The game currently has 77 characters, with at least 5 more promised to be released for download later - including the Piranha Plant from the Mario series. Every character that has ever appeared in a Smash Bros game is present in Ultimate, along with nearly every stage.
Despite the casual pick-up-and-play nature of the game, the Smash Bros series are the most played Nintendo games at a competitive level. Smash is played at EVO, the largest fighting game competition in the world, as well as at smaller events year-round. The games were not initially designed for the competative scene, but Nintendo has since embraced its status, sponsoring Smash Bros championship series tournaments.
I’m certainly not nearly good enough to participate in these sorts of tournaments, but holding a smaller-scale tournament with my friends and family over for the holidays is much more my speed, and can be a lot of fun. After all, we’ve all been growing up with Smash Bros.

This game provides hours of fun for me and my roommate! The depth of characters and difficulty of CPU boss battles makes this a worthwhile game that leaves you wanting to come back for more
