Customers frequently mention the excellent video quality, responsive motion detection, and ease of installation of the EVO HD Wi-Fi Video Doorbell. Many appreciate the convenient local storage option via microSD card, eliminating the need for a subscription. Positive feedback also highlights the effective night vision and generally good battery life. However, some users wish the chime volume was louder.

This product requires a microSD card, which is not included. (It handles up to 256GB, they say in the instructions.) I wish I knew this b4 I purchased it and started setting it up. This process is taking far too long, which I hate.

There are a number of things to really like about this video doorbell. There are also a few things I would want to put on my wish list. Starting with the setup, it is pretty easy and only requires a couple screwdrivers. I say a couple because one of the screws is smaller than standard. Once the doorbell is fully charged, I charged overnight so not exactly sure how long it actually took, I began the setup. One of the things I like about this doorbell is that you have the option to record locally so there is no need for a subscription! There are subscriptions available if you'd like to go that route. Simply insert a micro SD card up to 256GB. Next I paired the included chime with the doorbell. Yes, the chime is include unlike some that you have to purchase separately. Once that was done, I downloaded the app and connected to the wifi. It pretty much did everything on its own with only a few prompts to address. Once it was connected to the WiFi it was time to mount. Mount the bracket and it clips on and then use the small screwdriver to secure it to the bracket. Once mounted there are a number of setting you can adjust from app. You can set your detection zone, video quality and sensitivity. This camera has a very wide angle lens; somewhere in the neighborhood of160 degrees. That means the image may look odd to some so be aware. Image quality is really good and at night it is amazingly clear even on the darkest of nights. Now the wishlist item is if it could have smart integration with some of the standards like Alexa, Google or SmartThings. Other than that it is a great device with a number of features I haven't touched on.

The Swann EVO Wireless Video Doorbell has truly transformed my home security. With its 1.7MP HD camera, the video clarity is outstanding, capturing every detail from packages on the ground to full-body views of visitors. The 140° x 140° wide-angle lens ensures I never miss a thing, and the infrared night vision means my property is secure even in low light.
One of the standout features is the True Detect technology, which intelligently senses heat, motion, and people. This makes the alerts I receive highly reliable, ensuring I’m only notified of real activity. The two-way audio is another fantastic feature, allowing me to speak with visitors remotely via the Swann Security App, which is incredibly convenient when I’m not home.
I love that there are no subscription fees—simply add a Micro SD card, and you’re set to store and review footage at no additional cost. It’s flexible, too, with the option to use it wire-free with the rechargeable battery or wire it into your existing doorbell system.
The portable chime unit with multiple melodies is a nice touch, making sure I never miss a visitor. Overall, the Swann EVO Wireless Video Doorbell offers impressive security and convenience, making it a five-star addition to my home!

Potential but Room For Improvement

First this is super easy to set up and install. You will need to download the mobile app to set it up, and it walks you through all the steps. ONce you have it connected to your phone and the app then you are ready to install it in your doorway (or wherever you plan to use it).
I like the size of the unit, it is solid but not too large. The button for the visitor to press is nice size as well. The bracket is secure and holds it in place nicely. I like having the extra wireless doorbell chime for inside and you can place it more central in the home so you hear it. However there are some things that I think could be improved upon.
First, my home is stucco and I was able to use the pre existing wiring to connect it so there is constant power. You do not have to do this but it helps for longer use. However the bracket does not fit with the unit when I connected the wires. These wires are super small and skinny yet they are just bulky enough that the bracket will not securely fit with the unit. There is a pad to add some space behind the bracket but even that wasn’t enough. They need to design the bracket to allow for these tiny wires to still be there and connected.
Next, changing the chimes on the wireless unit is a little quirky. Basically you have to press the button on the unit once and wait for the chime to play. Then press again and wait for the next chime toi play out. Seems there should be a way to select these from the app without having to cycle through them one by one to get to the one you want. Minor but something that could be addressed in future updates.
I have not been able to get my home chime to work even though I am connected to the wiring. Not sure what I am missing but it is not working the way it should.
The view from the camera is not wide angle. I have not been able to change the setting(if there even is one) to make it wide angle. So I am only seeing a partial space of my front entrance. I am not seeing it fully on either side.
Lastl, the connection time is super slow between the unit and the mobile app. I get alerts immediately of motion. But when I open the app it takes forever for the image to load and sometimes it doesn’t load at all. My wireless courtier is directly inside the entrance behind the door. Yes my home is stucco but the front door is wood and glass. WHen I was installing it I could see the image in the app but now that it is installed when I try to open the app I am not getting the image to load.
I have not had a chance to test the two way communication yet sice I am still battling getting the image to load when I open the app. I have had other wireless doorbells and they have worked just fine for some reason this one is not working as well at connecting and showing me the image as the others I have had.
So this has potential to be great but has some areas for improvement.

Solid video doorbell

TL; DR - A simplified setup process and flexibility in installation make the Swann EVO HD a great choice for a subscription-less video doorbell camera. Everything you need to get started comes in the box except the microSD card you'll need to record video locally. Its compact size fits nearly anywhere, and the option to run it either from its internal rechargeable battery (using USB-C as its charge port) or from existing doorbell wires (12-24 volts AC) means you have options on where to mount it; the mounting hardware even gives you the options of screw or adhesive mounting. Only the setup process is over-complicated compared to some competing products, and the lack of built-in storage or included microSD card can be considered a drawback as well, but for a video doorbell that doesn't require a subscription to use, this really does check off all the boxes.
Unboxing/Setup: Nothing really all that special here, the packaging is compact and well organized, and the included instructions are clear on how setup is done.
Pairing with the Swann app is a mixed bag. I couldn't get my iPhone's camera to focus at first (15 Pro Max). for the QR code. Once the QR code was read, the setup went fairly quickly. The only annoying part of setup was Wi-Fi pairing - it honestly felt scary more than anything else, like the doorbell would be bricked if you didn't enter the right password.
Charging via USB-C is as easy as charging anything with USB-C is. Using a fast charger (like a laptop or a 30-watt USB-C brick) doesn't make a difference in charging speed. Connecting it to your existing doorbell wiring is also simple, but you may have to bypass the existing chime to make it work (I don't have a traditional door chime so I wasn't able to test this).
Usage - video quality is great, audio quality is great, mic quality is also pretty good. The microSD card recording working well and seems to scrub as fast as my wired, hard drive-based Swann cameras do. Speaking of, this doorbell does not interface with a wired Swann system at all, as cool as that would have been.
The doorbell itself has some neat features I've not seen in other video doorbells. The button is lit blue when its inactive, but as soon as you open the Swann app to view the camera or the motion sensor picks up on any motion, the light switches to red so anyone in view knows they're being recorded.
The only real disappointing is that this doorbell doesn't come with a SD card inside the package. As inexpensive as a 32GB microSD card is, it seems like a shortcoming on Swann's part.
All in all, the Swann EVO HD is a solid choice. Flexible mounting options really set it apart from its competition. Because of the flexible mounting options, this is a solid choice for homeowners and renters alike. Not needing a subscription is the biggest strength, especially for what it costs.

This is my 2nd Swann product so I didn’t need to install the app. But adding this to the app took no more than a couple minutes. One of the things I love most about this is that you don’t need a subscription or to pay any additional fees to use it correctly and regularly. It does offer options you can pay for but I am not using them.
Mounting the doorbell was simple and well explained with pictures. Just important to follow the directions about giving the brackets time to cure before putting the bell on it. And is has the tamper proof screw that makes it difficult for someone to just grab it off. You can use the two wires that come with it if you want to replace a wired doorbell in the same place. And of course, you can use it as wirelessly.
Pairing the doorbell and chime was also quick and easy. The chimes offers 6 options of sounds. I do wish the chime was plug instead of battery operated but it works fine and I knew what I was getting. We were nervous about needing to choose a place that it will stay with the double sided tape. It was tricky choosing which floor to keep the chime, as you want to hear it ring when downstairs and upstairs too. It was good that while standing in different areas on the first floor, you can still the chime ringing from the 2nd floor. It was hard to hear it while in the attic if there is any noise, which makes sense for the distance. So might look to see if additional chimes can be purchased separately in the future.
Captured pictures and videos are so clear, wide and bright. The night vision is excellent. I feel like that is always so important when I look at camera’s. The app has all the great options you want and expect. The camera has the great features like a siren, already recorded response you can send. You can filter the specific event types you want to see, which can be helpful. Surprisingly, this doorbell offers home, away and nighttime mode so you can really set it up for your lifestyle. One of the things I’ve heard people say about doorbell is that there’s always so much on front and they don’t know where to press the actual doorbell. This one makes it very easy with the the outline of a bell right up front. So far, this is meeting every need and expectation.

I recently installed the SWAN EVO Wireless Video Doorbell and Chime in black at my home, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results! As a woman in my 50s, I appreciate products that are both functional and easy to use, and this video doorbell has completely exceeded my expectations.
Installation was surprisingly simple, even for someone like me who isn’t particularly tech-savvy. The instructions were clear, and within no time, I had the doorbell up and running. It connected to my Wi-Fi seamlessly, and the app was easy to download and navigate. I love that I can see and speak to visitors through my phone, no matter where I am. The video quality is fantastic—clear and sharp both during the day and at night, which gives me peace of mind when I’m home alone or away from the house.
The black finish on the doorbell looks sleek and modern against my front door, adding a touch of style while also being functional. The wireless chime is a great addition too; I placed it in my living room, and it alerts me with a pleasant sound when someone rings the bell. Plus, the doorbell’s motion detection feature is incredibly responsive—I get notifications as soon as someone approaches, which makes me feel much more secure.
What I love most is the added layer of convenience and security this doorbell brings. I can see who’s at the door without having to get up, and I can even respond if I’m not home. This has been especially helpful for accepting deliveries or when unexpected visitors stop by.
Overall, the SWAN EVO Wireless Video Doorbell and Chime have been a fantastic investment in both home security and convenience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy-to-use, reliable, and stylish solution for their home.

I have two wireless doorbells from different brands that I currently have installed at my house. This one is a pretty nice addition to my setup. I have one at the front and back doors and this one I installed by my garage entry door so I can monitor what’s going on inside of my garage when the kids are playing. I initially put it in my safe room so i can see if anyone is trying to get into things that they shouldn’t be, but it didnt provide anything more than what I already have monitoring that area so i moved it.
The camera works very well and the picture is excellent. You can adjust the settings to get a higher resolution and the picture is surprisingly clear even at night. The motion sensor works great and it sends me notifications when there is activity in the area. You can activate schedules to change the modes. I have an SD card installed in mine so the videos are stored locally on the device, which is fine for the area it is installed in and it keeps me from paying for another subscription. The battery life seems to be decent but that will depend on the amount of activity. I fully charged it before i set it up and after about 10 days of usage, the battery is at 64%.
So far, i am pretty happy with the performance of this camera and have no complaints

The Swann - EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime – BLACK gives me an added sense of security for my home. My front door is the most vulnerable access point of my home and therefore needs a top of the line security camera. The Swann - EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime – BLACK handles the task. Setup is quite easy. First, I needed to install the Swann Security app and follow instructions to charge the video doorbell, install the MicroSD card, pair the chime with the video doorbell, change the Chime melody, and then pair the video doorbell with my Wi-Fi network. Mounting the video doorbell is done securely by using a designed anti-tamper bracket to attach to the door/wall of glass. I can use my phone to answer all notifications that ring the Chime. I can see who is ringing the Chime and I can have a back and forth conversation with the person. There is also motion detection technology included with the Swann - EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime – BLACK. The motion detection technology focuses on heat signatures of moving objects and records ten second intervals that can be played back to investigate who was on my property. With my front door now having Swann - EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime – BLACK video surveillance, I can feel a little bit more secure in my home.

The Swann EVO HD Wifi camera is a good looking door bell with great video and audi quality. It has great functionality including the mic and speaker, night vision, an alarm mode and more. The audio quality over the app is very clear, as well as the audio transmitted trough the door bell when using the app. I mounted this door bell on a side basement door and used the Swann Sofi 30 degree mounting plate so I could see my driveway as well. This was not provided by Swann or Best buy, I purchased it online.
I have a different model Swann doorbell for my front door so I was familiar with the installation process, which I have to say is extremely simple with the app. I did install a door bell transformer I got from a local box store and ran new wire for the door bell. The wire installation and overall setup with the app took less than 30 minutes! I have a Swann 8 camera DVR system and a Swann doorbell on my front door as well. The entire system can be viewed on the app and it really integrates well
Overall, another great Swann product that I will recommend to friends and family!

The Swann EVO Wireless video doorbell does a great job at providing front door (or any door) video security. It is especially nice in that it can be run entirely standalone and does not require any sort of subscription service, although Swann offers optional ones. Due to relentless rains, this took me a bit of time to get installed, but the process was relatively painless, and there are plenty of options for installation.
The doorbell itself is actually rather large--undoubtedly to accommodate the battery. Out of the box, the instructions were a little on the thin side. I found myself having to take a close look at the device and bracket to understand everything. In the box comes doorbell and chime, the mounting bracket, wires for hardwiring, and associated mounting hardware . Behind a rubber protector lies the USB charging port and the microSD card. The instructions say it takes up to a 256GB card, and mine worked instantly.
There are a couple of options for mounting. The first is to hard mount it by screwing the bracket directly to the structure, and then mounting the doorbell, which then attaches via a screw on the bottom. This was my preferred method, but the width of the the frame around more door barely was wide enough for the mount to attach, and the doorbell would've either stuck out well over the edge or not been able to attach at all, because another part of the wood trim stuck out and would've blocked it. Definitely take a look at the area around your door for mounting options.
This brought me to the second option, which I didn't like quite as well but has worked out nonetheless. That is to attach a strong 2-sided adhesive to the back of the bracket, and then attach it to glass (I attached to the sidelight to the right of my door, next to the original plain doorbell). Before you commit to a location (regardless of mounting method), check to make sure the camera view isn't obstructed. The adhesive has to cure for 24 hours before it can bear the weight of the doorbell. After waiting a day, it slipped on and I was able to use the tiny screw to more firmly keep it secure.
On the software side, it's fairly straightforward as a process to pair with the Swann app, as is the pairing process for the chime. The app will transfer your wifi settings to the device. (Do make sure you have a good signal in your mounting location!) The Swann app has pretty much everything I need for camera control and notifications.
I am still playing with the sensitivity of the motion detector. There's a pretty sophisticated grid pattern to granularly adjust where it will focus, but for now, I've erred on the side of letting it send some false positives. Connection to the camera when someone presses the doorbell is very fast, as is communication (you can speak, or you can used one of several preset messages). However, if the device has gone to sleep and you check an older notification, it takes a few moments for it reconnect and bring up that older capture, which feels a little sluggish. Communication via the speaker and mic are clear--I had my daughter test it with me and we had no difficulty understanding one another, and it felt like there was very little, if any, lag. Video quality, in both daytime and low light, is quite acceptable. The default quality isn't the highest setting, so I did up in the app's settings, and you can also adjust the video's aspect ratio.
I haven't drained the battery yet, and I'm a little concerned how long it'll last before I have to dismount it to recharge. I do think my testing undoubtedly drained the battery down faster than real-world day to day use will--I've lost about 20%. I suspect for my real usage it'll be every few months--not a big deal. Obviously this is only a concern if running on battery though, which you will if following the adhesive mounting option. As for the chime, it's plenty loud and configurable through the app, and you can optionally mount it with an included adhesive.
Overall, it does everything I want. It's a little bulky, and I wish I could've taken a chance on mounting directly into the wood trim. But the glass option actually gave a better view, and it's very hard to miss. Other than the 24hr wait for the adhesive, the entire setup was really quick. It's a bit bulkier than I'd prefer, and the app, occasionally, a little sluggish. (Though never when someone is ringing. That was very snappy each time.) I really like this and I'd probably look to see what other products I could use with it since I do overall like the app interface. If you want a versatile video doorbell option and especially want something subscription-free, this is a very good choice.

Feature rich with no subscription required

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I found this to be a nice video doorbell, with features that don't require a subscription. My list of wants in a video doorbell was fairly short, and this hits them fairly well.
Features: Standout for me is the ability to record locally to an SD card. Video chat and notifications when someone/something is detected. Wired or wireless connection. Easy install. Links to Google Home. This video doorbell checks all the boxes.
Contents: The packing is fully recyclable and well designed. It includes everything a typical install would need, including screws, mounting tape and wires for connecting to an existing doorbell circuit. The required SD card, up to 256Gb, for local recordings is not included.
Installation: A quick read through of the instructions led to any easy install. Simply remove the existing doorbell, mount the holding bracket, install the SD card, attach the wires, slip the doorbell onto the bracket. Finally install the security screw. Install the app on your device and follow the setup. It is a 2.4g device, so I temporarily disabled the 5g on my network to avoid any issues. It has a robust wifi capability, showing 96% signal strength for me.
There are a few items of note:
-It does not ring your existing chime. You must use the included battery operated chime.
-After the install I found that it generated a lot of false alerts. Over 70 in an 8 hour period. After adjusting the detection zone, which was pretty easy, the false alerts were resolved.
-You can set schedules for home, night, and away.
What kept me from giving it 5 stars, is a significant delay at times establishing a connection. When the doorbell is rung, or motion detected, it connects fairly quickly. This allows time to see and interact with your visitor. However, it goes back to sleep in about a minute. If you miss that window, it can take up to 5 minutes to establish a live connection from the app. If you want to download and view any videos, it can take that same time to connect and waken the camera. The other annoyance is alerts when your schedule changes. I couldn't find a way to disable that alert.
If you choose a wireless installation, the USB-C charging port is located on the rear of the unit. It's the same location that houses the SD card. I don't know how long before it needs to be charged. Be aware that you'll need to remove it from the mounting bracket to recharge the battery.
With a 2 year warranty and lifetime support, it's a worthwhile addition to any home security system.

Great doorbell that's even better with Swann NVR

I got this camera because it's the same brand as my wired camera system at the house. My camera layout does not allow a good view of the front door so this was a nice solution. My door faces north so I wasn't able to test how it handles direct sunlight.
Setup was very simple. I already had the Swann app so I can remotely view my cameras so adding this doorbell only took a couple minutes. I was able to install the camera on the house in about 10 minutes and it's wired into the old doorbell power so it stays charged. The one thing I'm disappointed about is I was hoping I could still use my original doorbell chime since this unit uses the wiring. But it only uses the wires for power, it cannot activate the old chime. The supplied wireless battery chime works fine though.
The camera is great video quality and with the MicroSD card it records everything motion triggers. The nightvision is very clear and easy to see everything, even with the front light on or off. It's also very easy to watch the footage back through the app. Although it does download anything you want to watch, it doesn't stream it like from my NVR system. It would be nice in a future update if they put these videos in the same timeline stream as the NVR cameras. The live camera view does come up on the App right beside all the wired cameras which is really nice and exactly what I was hoping for.
The motion sensing is almost a little to strong. I have a sidewalk about 40' in front of my house and it triggers for everyone walking past even on the lowest setting. Not really a problem though, I'd rather have to many recordings than miss one I need.
When someone rings the doorbell it's only a couple seconds before it rings to my phone. The lag for talking to someone is not bad and pretty easy to communicate if you're not home.
Overall I would highly recommend this unit if you're looking for a doorbell camera, especially if you already have other Swann cameras. Only having 1 camera app for the property is very easy and convenient.

Battery, Hardwired, or Solar Wired-it's a must!

We currently have a different video doorbell on our home but we were needing one for our camper-well actually we need 2 for our camper as we need one for the sliding door & one for the normal door. This Swann is going to go on the sliding door & it is a really nice quality solution!
Setup & First Impressions
Setup was super easy & when I took everything out of the packaging I noticed how sleek it looks & how well it will fit in with the rest of our Swann ecosystem products up at our camper (cameras). Adding the video doorbell to our account in the app was super easy.
Installation
Since I don't have a hardwired doorbell on our camper I jumped online and ordered a solar panel that breaks off into the hardwired doorbell wires and then hooked those to this Swann EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime. It worked flawlessly and the doorbell is staying charged just like it would with a true hardwired collection. Sweet!
The ability to have the chime in the camper, and so here it everywhere, is great too. I don't know how well the chime speaker would work if it was at our actual home (a multi-story home) but for something like our camper it worked great!
To be clear our camper doesn't move around; I mean it can and it moves for a few months out of the year to go to a different campsite but for the most part it is in the same spot almost year round and so we don't have to worry about the doorbell or our Swann cameras flying off as we drive down the road or anything-so I don't know if that would even be ideal, so do that at your own risk!
Conclusion
So in conclusion we are extremely happy with the Swann EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime! Being able to remote into the doorbell and basically use it as just another security camera while we aren't at our camper is really great & something we are happy to have! We truly love our Swann EVO Wireless Video Doorbell & Chime!

I was so pleased with how easily this set up! The camera quality is really good, especially at this price point, and this is just what we were looking for!
There are other options out on the market, should you be looking for "security", but we were looking for some peace of mind because our house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac and so while there's not a lot of activity, we do want to be aware when there is activity. We live in a area that has been recently storm ravaged and just this little device has helped my sons (12 and 7) to feel a little better after a lot of turmoil. I really love that there's not a monthly subscription fee because since we don't feel like we need a full system, I could not get behind the idea of a video doorbell that was going to be one more ongoing expense. This little device solves that problem!
I also really like that it's got a rechargeable battery, and while we have not yet had to charge it, with only a few days of use, once our wifi reconnected, it looks like it's certainly going to be worth the time and effort of charging every now and again.

Good Image Quality and Motion Sensitive

What I liked the most about this doorbell is that you don't need a subscription. All you need is an SD card. However, while that is a nice feature, if somebody stole the video doorbell, you wouldn’t have any record of the event. Luckily, it can integrate with the Swann security recorder and that solves that problem, provided you have one to begin with.
As for installation, it couldn’t be easier. No wiring necessary and the chime is loud enough. Since I’ve had it just for a few days, I don’t know how long the batteries will last, but my concern is that being connected to WiFi it will drain the battery relatively fast. But again, I haven’t used it long enough and so far, it hasn’t run out of power yet.
There is an option to wire it and because I already have another video doorbell that is wired, I will not be doing that for now. However, my recommendation is that if wiring is an option for you, go with that. It will save you a lot of headaches, especially when you are traveling.
The quality during the day is good and I expected it to be. Colors are accurate and stable. My concern is always the image quality at night, but it is clear enough to identify anybody although the video is in black in white.
It is very sensitive to motion and that is usually a good thing although I wish it had a way to recognize deer. Where I live, there are a lot of deer which sometimes make me feel as if I didn’t live in a city. The issue is that they come to my front yard and trigger alerts many times a day. If you don’t have that probably, you probably won’t have to worry about the motion sensitivity.

Hello jailoliv,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We’re glad to hear you appreciate the no-subscription feature and the ease of installation. You raise a good point about the potential for theft and integrating with the Swann security recorder. We recommend wiring it if that's an option, as it can provide a more reliable power source.
We understand how motion sensitivity can be a bit tricky, especially with wildlife in the area!

To get full capability you need the application.

The Swann evo Wireless Video Doorbell is good if you meet the requirements of having a Wi-Fi router that is connected to the Internet since it requires the cellphone app to access much of its functionality. Without a Wi-Fi router connected to the internet, the doorbell can be used to cause the included chime to ring. The chime has six tones you can cycle through to get to a tone you like using the set button on the chime. To access the video recording function, you must download and register the Swann application on your cellphone. The application will take you through pairing your doorbell to the application. The application needs a Wi-Fi network connected to the Internet to complete the setup process. Once the doorbell is paired with the application, you will receive notices on your cell phone that someone is at the door. The application provides a great deal of functionality like the ability to have a live view of the person at the door, and you can play several recorded phrases. The doorbell has a motion detector so that it can record any activity it sees if you have an SD Card installed in the doorbell. There are several modes: Home, Away, and Night, which can each have their configuration. The video format of the recorded files is a 180x180 spherical format. I did not try to find a program that could stitch the video to a standard flat format.
