Turned off the power, unscrewed the old light, a couple wire nuts, screw in the new mounting plate, plug in the new camera/light and sync. Ladder and screwdriver is all that was needed. Only one problem. I noticed the trim needs painting. If that were only as easy.

Thank you for your feedback. We completely understand how satisfying it must have been to replace your old light with your new Swann camera/light so quickly. It’s wonderful to hear that all you needed was a ladder and screwdriver to get everything set up.

We also understand your one little challenge with the trim needing painting, if only that were as easy as the installation. It’s great to hear that, aside from that, the installation was smooth and straightforward.

Setup is tedious as it is hardwired but once it is done it works flawlessly. Thought I would still need to use my outdoor light from time to time with this. NOPE this is brighter than the surface of the sun.

A good 4k WiFi floodlight cam for small areas

Overall the Swann 4k camera and floodlight combo does a good job. I’m not going to quote specs and every feature as that is in the product overview and specification section above. I will be talking about how well it performs compared to several other similar security cameras I have and have reviewed over the past several years. Do remember that this camera needs to be installed on an electrical box and AC power ran to it. It’s not battery powered and has no battery back up. If you do not have the skills to install this product then you should hire a professional to do it. Safety first. :-) Once installed, app setup was easy for me. Especially since I already have a Swann multi camera security system up and running. I just easily added this camera to it. You will need to scan the QR code on the camera to add it to the devices on the app. You will need to enter your router’s password to the camera even though it’s already been entered into the app for the other system. After that, it will show up with the other cameras that are already there. I like that. Plays well with Alexa. Did not test on any other platform. We only use Alexa. Daytime camera performance is excellent. Looks as clear and bright as my other Swann 4k cameras. At least until I zoom in a bit. That’s partly because the cameras on that system are 12 MP and I don’t know what the MP is on this camera. I would assume 8 MP. The app doesn’t offer a “quality” option “LQ / HQ” for this camera that it does for the others. Night camera performance is not as good as the other cameras I have tested. I thought it is because it appears to lack the number of IR LEDs that the others do to illuminate a wider area. But I don’t think that’s the case after looking at the app showing the same area that another Swann camera is illuminating that is in the same field of view as this camera. See screen grab photos. With the floodlights on, it looked much better as I expected. Brightness and coverage looked good but not as bright as the Eufy floodlight camera that was mounted here before. More on that in the comparison section. Audio is lacking when talking to someone. Even when close to it. I could hear my wife talking to me fine but she could barely hear me and vice versa when we reversed positions. The siren function sounds just like the Red Alert siren on the original 1960s Star Trek. Fascinating… Klingons take note. Turning the floodlight on with the app can be very sluggish at times. Even when at home and on fiber internet WiFi. When I enable it on the app it takes anywhere from 5 seconds to over 30 seconds to show up on the camera’s feed. I tried it while looking at it outside and sometimes it turned on the lights within a second or 2 but still took those longer times to show up on the feed. Not sure what’s up with that. Same with dimming the lights. Motion detection works pretty well. You have several options in this area. You can use preset settings or draw a motion detect mask - grid. Presets are for any motion detection and person detection. Has 5 levels from off to Max for both Compared to the high end Swann Multi camera system I have: The multi has better image quality due to 12 mp cameras running at 4K. It’s also a POE system (Power Over Ethernet) and the 4 cameras connect to a base with a 2TB HD that's running to the router via Ethernet cable. It is more responsive when using the app. The cameras do have a couple of white LEDs for very basic lighting that’s not even close to the lights on this camera's flood lights. However, the cameras for this system have many more IR LEDs for night vision. It's also a much more expensive system than this camera - floodlight combo. Compared to the 2.1K Eufy floodlight that was previously mounted in the exact same location. The Eufy camera looks the same in the daytime but night performance is much better. On par with the other Swann system at night. The Eufy has 3 floodlight panels and is twice as bright at the maximum lighting setting. It’s also a bit more sensitive at motion detection from a wider area because it’s designed differently. It’s also a pan and scan system where the camera moves and can track motion. It’s more expensive than the Swann, about one hundred or so. It’s my overall favorite due to its versatility. It also has internal storage or cloud or both. Compared to a couple of Ring camera light combos I had. They are full HD and did a pretty good job but this camera is newer tech and performs much better image quality wise. The Swann app is faster and the cameras shows up in it faster than with Ring. The two way talk function is much better with Ring though. I had to pay a subscription to save videos with the Ring cameras. No local storage. Pros: Local storage on a 32GB microSD card that’s included. Mounting hardware is included. Build quality feels and looks good. Nice Clear images in the daytime. Motion detection works well, but not as quite as well as the others. App integration with my other Swann camera system. Anyone outside can hear you nice and clear. Cons: Night image quality is not on par with the other cameras I have tested. Much darker. See photos. With the floodlights on you can see what is close but not like with the others. Especially the Eufy. Very weak audio from the microphone. Plastic base is larger than the box it’s mounted to and open on the back in a way that permits water ingress. See photos. App can crash unexpectedly. No option for cloud storage. Conclusion: Not a bad camera floodlight combo for the money if you’re looking to monitor and light up a small area, like a porch or in front of a garage. If you need to monitor a larger area and especially at night, you might want to consider something else.

Dear MrLowNotes. Thank you for your extensive review, your Pros and Cons list will be very helpful to other customers considering purchasing this camera.

      In response to some of the points you have noted;

      (1) this camera includes 1 day of free cloud storage in addition to the 32GB Micro SD Card. The cloud recordings give you nice fast playback in the app, whilst the local storage offers a great backup solution if you ever have network problems that prevent a cloud upload. There aren't many other brands on the market that offer such a generous amount of storage for free. We also offer an optional subscription service via our Secure+ plans whereby you can extend the cloud storage period to 60 days, along with a host of other benefits such as extended warranty. Please see swann.com/secure-plans for more detail.

      (2) Within the app there is the option to adjust the speaker volume if you wish to. This might improve the volume when you use the 2-Way Talk feature if you're not already on the highest volume.

Our teams will do some further investigation into your comments around image quality and app crashes and will make improvements via future firmware and app updates wherever we can.

      Thanks again for your review.

I was super impressed by the 4k quality of this security camera. I had no problem setting the camera up, though it did take me a awhile. Setting it up on Wi-fi was also a breeze. The brightness can shine up to 2600 lumens which is super bright during the night. Also has infrared night vision mode The app/camera automictically records when it detects motion and has been great so far. The angle of the camera can capture up to 115 degrees and you can truly see everything. Comes with a huge 32gb micro sd which is absolutely massive but considering it records in 4k, the file size is significantly larger. I've had no problems connecting to my camera in the rain, certainly seems weatherproof. The Swann camera also comes with 2-way talking ability which is useful if you mount it close to the ground or front door, however I mounted it on my porch so its a bit useless for my sake. I love the convivence of the app and the fact that its paired with Google/Alexa is great for someone like me. TL;DR: The Swann camera is fantastic high quality security camera with all the modern convivences like app connectivity, Hey Google, and cloud uploading. I couldn't be happier with this product.

    A Great Camera and Floodlight

I have been wanting to install a new light/camera combo on my driveway. Mainly to keep an eye on my kiddos when they're out front on their own playing. It would also be nice to hopefully deter any porch pirates from taking off with our packages this holiday season. When I came across this Swann Floodlight, I felt this would be pretty much what I was looking for. Installation was very straightforward. The instructions do a great job of walking you step by step. I was replacing another light fixture that we already had in the corner of my home. It was just a matter of turning power off to the light, unscrewing the hold fixture, then connecting the Swann Floodlight and then pairing it using the app to my network. The entire process should take most less than 10 minutes. I took a little longer since I goofed on one of the steps and ended up kind of redoing the initial installation process. The actual light and camera work very well. I can easily see what is going on in my driveway whether during the day or at night. You can customize just how bright the light gets as well as how long the light turns on for when it senses motion. You are also able to adjust the sensitivity to dial in what motions signal the light and camera to start. You get both internal memory and cloud storage so you should be able to keep any video you are needing. This is a great camera/floodlight. It's done a great job of allowing me to keep a track of the front of my home, and it's great that I am able to use the built in mic and speaker to interact with folks stopping by my home. Installation was a breeze and the video quality and customization is great as well. This would be an easy recommendation for anyone.

*IMPORTANT FEATURES* - 1. You do not need to pay for any subsciption service to use this and retain some video. 2. Any app capable of viewing RTSP protocol can be used to spot check the live video and audio ! ( See below for howto: ) This upgraded my circa 1999 garage motion sensor light that stopped sensing motion about a decade ago. Installation - This light and camera combo can be installed on a ceiling or vertically on a wall. It has a removable plug style backplate to simplify installation. In english - that means you only have to set up the retaining bar against a standard wall box then attach a very lightweight plastic bracket which the light THEN pops onto and secures with one screw. Easy ! and it means you won't be precariously dangling around your brand new fixture. Once installed - I flipped the breaker to power it up and installed the swann security app on my iphone. After a few minutes it was blinking as per the manual, I paired it and it was ready for setup. I was able to quickly orient the camera, flip the image and setup motion blocking for part of the view of my street and sidewalk. After that I allowed it to record and alert on defaults and it's been working perfectly day and night for over a week. Video quality - Honestly it's better than expected. The compression is not too heavy and recorded videos as sharp and clear. It also does a much better than expected job recording at night ! You can also have a two way conversation on it ( like a smart doorbell ) which is neat. * How to view this in applications other than the Swann Security App: * Live video can be played (with audio) in some media players like VLC - ( File, Open stream option ) Use rtsp (colon, slash slash ) your IP (Colon) 554 (Slash) What I love - Local storage, no subscription required / no credit card required for sign-up. Simple installation with Backing plate containing the wiring. The app for android and iphone works properly and is simple to use. Room for improvement - Color - Please Offer flat black or dark brown. Arctic white = I have to paint it per H.O.A. Software - It is unclear if a supported desktop app is available

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on this product James, we're glad you like your new 4K Floodlight camera.

Yes, Swann feel it's important to offer free storage and we offer this across our entire product range. Our Wi-Fi cameras typically include 1 day of free cloud plus a 32GB Micro SD Card for a huge amount of local backup storage. The cloud storage period can be extended to 60 days via subscription if you prefer, but unlike brands such as Ring or Arlo, a payment is certainly not required in order to see your recordings.

The Swann Security app is only available for Android and iPhone devices at this point in time, we don't have a PC version right now. Thanks for your suggestion on colors, we may look to add further colors to our range in the future.

    Excellent Heat/Motion Detection Technology

This security camera with floodlight is good and has exceptional motion/heat detection technology. The security camera is 65 feet away from my router, and the Wi-Fi connectivity works very well. The lights are 2600 lumen brightness, are very powerful, and are dimmable if you which to decrease brightness. The 4K video is excellent, and the color night vision gives a good image. The angle of view is 115° wide, which is more than what I need in my front door entrance. This wide angle of view makes this floodlight ideal for placement on the sides of buildings or houses. The device lights up large areas very well. The device uses motion and heat trigger sensing, which makes the detection work all the time. This TrueDetect technology avoids alerts and recording of moving tree branches or leaves. All important activities always get recorded, and I receive instant alerts via the app. One can set the floodlights' intensity level and have the siren produce a sound. With the app, you also have the option to turn on/off the floodlight and the siren. The talk and listen 2-way audio is great for greeting guests or warning intruders. The 2-way talk feature has a decent volume, and I can hear all noise from the camera's mic. For the most part, I will use my smart doorbell camera to speak to people at my front door instead of this device. A smartphone or tablet controls the security camera; not sure if it is accessible through a website. Local via a 32GB Micro SD card and cloud storage (optional for additional charges). There is a monitoring service for an additional charge as well. The design and adjustable lights heads and camera made this device easy to install and adjust it. I did a ceiling mount using a recessed light converter kit on an existing recessed light. It took me about 20 to attach the recessed light converter and install the Swann floodlight security camera. Overall, I am satisfied with the security camera, super strong lights, good image quality, and excellent heat/motion detector. I like the simplified app; not complicated to pair and use.

Setting the system up, I initially had a problem getting the device connected because of iOS 16.1, but after trying a phone with iOS 16.0.1, the device was up and running in about 5 minutes. Once up and running the app gives you the ability control motion detection with the ability to mask off areas to prevent false triggers. You can also set 4 different settings for motion, person detection and you can also control the insensitivity of the lights or cut it off completely. The problem I have with the app is it never seems to show the right time for recordings, even when I go in and sync the time zone with my phone. I’ve had this issue with my previous Swann system and this one does the same thing, even though this one can be adjusted from my phone and the other one has to be adjusted from the dvr. When I go into settings on the app for this camera, it shows the right time zone, but when it records video it’s the wrong time. Installation is definitely easier than a standard flood light as you install a separate base and then install the camera and flood light portion. The base contains the wiring and the cam and flood light part screws into that with one self contained screw. This is helpful especially if you’re having to install this on a ladder 2 or 3 stories up. Video quality is about as good as I’ve seen from security cams that I’ve used. During daylight you nice sharp video and nighttime video is clear also. Even though this is 4K don’t expect to be able to zoom in at night and read license plates. This isn’t exclusive to Swann or this unit as all outdoor security cams I’ve used struggle with this. For the price, you get an overall great device that gives you the ability to monitor your property with local storage and no monthly fees.

    Needs very strong wifi signal

Installing this light was as simple as replacing any other light fixture in your home. If you've done that before, you can install this without any additional help or instructions. Once it's installed, and you restore power to the light, you need to scan a small barcode on the camera module of the floodlight to get it to pair, or manually enter a code on the camera (which is in very small print). I guess this is how most smart camera/lights are paired, but it's something to keep in mind if the camera is in a hard-to-reach location (i.e., above a garage). Pairing and setup was otherwise generally straightforward and painless. Where I started to run into issues was with reliability and speed of the camera. Even though my phone had nearly full Wifi strength, and the app even said the camera had about 60% signal strength, it struggled significantly with maintaining connection to wifi. When it was connected, downloading videos or looking at the live feed was borderline impossible. Attempting to control the camera would result in significant delays for the camera to respond to my commands; it would take up to 30 seconds for the light to turn on after I commanded it on in the app. I couldn't even update the date/time on the camera. It would also be very slow to respond to movement and trigger the light. After the basic troubleshooting steps, I setup a wifi extender very close to the camera, inside the house, and connected the camera to the extender. After I did that performance improved dramatically. So, now I need this extender, just for this camera, since everything else on that part of my home works fine otherwise. Besides needing a very strong wifi signal, this works well. The notifications will send you to the live camera feed, which was confusing at first, since I expected it to show me the recording of the event. So if you have a few notifications of motion or a person that you don't check right away, if you click on the notification, it just shows you the live feed of nothing happening. Even if you go to the notifications history in the app, the notifications all just bring you to the live feed, no matter how old the notification is. You also can't mark all notifications as read; so now I have 99+ unread notifications, since tapping on them doesn't do anything useful. You have to go over to the playback/history to view the videos of the specific events. Not really a huge deal, but a bit confusing at first. Video quality is good, both in daytime and nighttime, and the lights are nice and bright.

      Dear ILikeVideoGames,

Thank you for your detailed review of Swann's new 4K Floodlight Camera.

What you've said on the Wi-Fi signal is accurate, due to the high resolution of this camera it will need a decent Wi-Fi signal and upload speed where it's installed in order to deliver reliable performance. It sounds like you were able to achieve this with the help of a low cost Wi-Fi extender which is great.

We have designed the app to take you directly from a notification to the live view dashboard in order to give you an instant view of what may be happening at your property at that moment in time. With regards to being able to clear the notifications, we agree with you that this can be a bit annoying and will try to get this improved in a future app release.

Thanks again for your review and we hope you continue to enjoy your Swann product.

I received the Swann Outdoor Wired 4K 32MB Security Camera with Floodlight in White, it comes with everything you need for a simple wired installation. Lights are nice and bright, good quality, seems durable and well made. It is a good quality camera that is very clear, and covers a large portion of my yard. Additional features include color night vision, 2-way audio which will enable you to communicate with guests or intruders. loud siren, human detection, and up to 150 days of free local recording storage, also includes a 32 gb memory card. Once you connect the device to your home Wi-Fi network you'll receive notifications on your smart phone once movement is detected. It even has voice commands via Alexa and Hey Google. You can can access the video from your phone with their app, which is very nice and easy to use. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a security camera with flood light to help keep you and your home safe, and to know what is going on outside without actually going out to look.

The Swann Floodlight + 4k Security Surveillance Camera is the first security camera plus floodlight that I've had the chance to install and use. My home has two floodlights on opposite corners of the front and back wired for 120v power, and the existing fixtures seem to be the original builder grade ones. Install of the Swann Floodlight + 4K camera was super easy. The box comes with pretty much all the hardware you need to install. In my case, I needed to retrofit a junctionbox to get the install up to code, but everything I needed to attach the floodlight to the new junction box was included. Swann actually took things a step further on the easiness scale by having you wire a small part of the base to the main power, then you attach that to the junction box/mount. This keeps the weight down and makes it extremely easy to get the wires connected. Then the bulky main part of the floodlight plugs into that base, and a single screw tightens the assembly together. Getting the camera, motion sensor, and floodlights pointed the right way was a little tough using the ceiling mount, but if you are wall mounting it should be easier. The floodlights are 2600 lumens and INCREDIBLE. They provide a true "flood" in terms of coverage, lighting up almost my whole back yard from the corner of the house. The motion sensor offers pretty wide coverage as well, and seems to have just the right sensitivity to trigger the lights (I have not played around with the settings from the defaults). The camera quality and Swann app are also very good. Adding the camera to the app and my home network was super easy. The video quality in daylight is clear and has great dynamic range. At night, the floodlight offers great quality and full color. Without the floodlight you still get great detail and coverage with the black and white nightvision mode. Without adding the extra pay-only features, the Swann app notifies me of motion and stores a short clip for each event for a day or two for me to save or get screenshots from. The app has really come a long way from where it was the first time I installed a Swann system 2.5 years ago. I definitely will be thinking of Swann for future camera additions to my home.

I was a little nervous about installing this myself, but it turned out to be pretty simple. The instructions were clear, and once it was connected to WiFi, everything worked smoothly. The 4K video is super sharp, and the night vision is excellent—I can clearly see my driveway even in the dark. I feel a lot safer having it up, and it’s easy to check everything right from my phone.

The Swann Outdoor Wired 4K 32GB Security Camera with Floodlight is an excellent bang for your buck security camera for those looking for peace of mind in monitoring your home. The camera's 4K resolution captures clear and detailed footage, and I'm able to see all the entrances of my back yard. The floodlight provides an added layer of security, with its motion detector lighting up when any motion is detected. The camera has fared well with some of the harsher weather conditions we have had this winter. It is easy to install and connects to your existing wiring, ensuring there is a reliable and consistent power source, just make sure you have a junction box because I ran into a problem where the flood light we were replacing with the camera was not properly installed, which then led to having a contractor come out to install one, which then led to him discovering rotting wood in our roof, not a fun situation but the camera was easy to install once that was all taken care of. The Swann Security app provides easy access to live and recorded footage, making it simple to keep an eye on your property at all times. And allows you to set up different schedules for the lights to be on between certain hours if you are going out of town. You get a 90 day trial of their subscription service and depending on which package you pick you will get cloud recording on top of the physical recording on the memory card along with an extended 36 month warranty if anything goes wrong with it, so that's something to look into. Overall, the Swann Outdoor Wired 4K 32MB Security Camera with Floodlight is a great product for anyone looking to increase the security of their home or business. With its high-quality video resolution, reliable power source, and added floodlight, this camera is sure to provide peace of mind.

So I was looking to replace the backyard boring lantern porch light with something more useful. Ive been wanting to add some sort of security to the back of the house, first and foremost to scare critters out of my yard but also for piece of mind. I decided to give the Swann outdoor floodlight with 4K camera a shot. This really hit the mark. It looks simple and you can’t tell a difference between it and all the others on the market. It’s all the same. Two flood lights and a moveable camera below the lights. Solid plastic weatherproof outside and the lights are very very bright! You can adjust just how bright you want them in the available app. But man they made a difference for me in the backyard. And the install was super quick and very easy. The resolution for viewing and recording is 4K and you can get some pretty good detail in the recordings. You have the option to purchase cloud storage, but I really don’t need it. It does have a little local storage and it’s sufficient for what I need. The cool part of the camera is just how well it works in different times of the day. My yard doesn’t not get hit too bad with sun out back, so the recording is perfect during the day. At night, it has really good infrared night vision that picks up pretty solid detail on whatever the camera sees. And it’s accurate too. By that I mean I don’t get false alarms from things like harsh weather or bad wind. It picks up so far only the actual movement of things coming into my yard. Also it has a wide angle lense which gives you a much greater view compared to a standard camera. The camera also has two way comms, so you can hear what is going on and you can speak to whoever or whatever is on your property. I don’t think I’ll use it for anything other than messing with the kids or telling the neighbor’s cat to go away. But it’s a cool feature. Swann has an app as well and it’s simple and intuitive. It helps you go through the set up and as long as you have a solid wifi signal you are set. I think it also works with your favorite digital assistant. I like this product a lot. So much so that I’ll likely get another to add to the front yard. The added security is always good, but the light itself works well and I’m extremely happy I gave it a try. I recommend this product to anyone that is security minded as well as wants something dependable. Swann has been around for a while and this is the first product I’ve used at my house. But it won’t be the last.

Hi Marine778. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review on your new 4K Floodlight, what you've written will be very helpful to others who are thinking about buying this model.

Just letting you know that this model does include 1 day of free cloud recordings in addition to the 32GB Micro SD Card for local storage. Swann give the option to extend cloud recording to 60days via our subscription service, but you definitely don't need to subscribe to use the product or get the 1 day of free cloud.

      Thanks again for your review.

I have had the opportunity to test other Swann cameras and I can say that this product does its job very well, although there are some drawbacks. Installation is easy if you already have an outdoor light or a previous flood light, because it connects directly to AC power, it does not have an internal battery. Once installed the floodlight - 4k camera must be configured with the Swann Security app, this configuration is easy however, consider that initially the app will update the firmware if an update is available and may take a little more time, once the installation is complete it will be ready for use. Regarding performance, the camera detects movement and records a few seconds or as long as the detected person is moving, the app sends a notification that when clicked takes us to the live view. Because it has 32GB of internal memory, events are recorded, moments where someone was detected and stored by date and time. The image quality is very good but in night mode it does not stand out much. It has a decent quality microphone and a speaker that leaves a little to be desired, it can be heard but not very clear. One of the things I have noticed is that the camera in a few occasions does not detect movement or takes a little time, most of the time it does detect it and sends the notification to the phone with a few seconds of difference. If instead of activating the live view the notifications would take you to the recording of the detected movement, it would be much more convenient. Another drawback is that when reviewing the latest recordings, it takes a little time to transfer them from the camera memory to the app and sometimes it is not very convenient to say. The light is very bright and you can configure the intensity of brightness, the sensitivity of detection, you can delimit areas to not detect movement in certain areas we want. Within the app you can customize some functions, from notifications, format the micro sd memory, edit profiles for times when we are away from home, etc.. Overall the camera detects motion very well and the app notifies you about each event, the image quality is very good, the lights have enough brightness and is easy to customize, no subscription is required for use and with the 32gb micro sd memory is enough to give a little more security to our home, I can recommend this Outdoor Floodlight 4K-camera.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Serv.

With regard to notifications, we have designed the app this way so that when you tap on a push notification, you are directed immediately to the live view dashboard screen of the app. We have done it this way so that you can get an instant view of what's happening at your property at that point in time. We felt this was a better method than going to a recording that is in the past or may still be in the process of uploading to the cloud.

The speaker volume can be adjusted within the app, but we understand your comment that it may be a little hard to hear in some noisier environments. We will see if we can improve on this volume with a future firmware release.

Thanks again for your review and recommending this Floodlight Camera to others.

Finally, 4K security camera with floodlights that I can control the brightness level. The video and sound quality is outstanding. I was pleasantly surprised at how crystal clear the color night vision was. I can connect it to Alexa. Perfect for my driveway and back yard, adjusting the brightness, when necessary. I will have to get one for the cabin too.

Swann really has done a good job with a floodlight security camera combination. At first unboxing, it looks sturdy enough to stand up to the Midwest climate I am in. The lights are adjustable to make it easy to illuminate a large area. The camera is also easily adjusted to point it wherever you want. Install was very easy. Take the extra step to caulk around where the base of the light sits at your siding or roof. The Swann app was also easy to follow and setup. Being 4k quality is a nice touch. Quite the step up from 1080p resolution. My only negative comments are these. I wish there was a way to better setup timing of lights. The light duration when movement is detected ranges from 30-300 seconds. Not bad, but it reacts to movement. What if I wanted to light up my backyard without there being movement? Can't use the switch because then it will just cut off camera power since it's always supposed to be switched on. I wish there was a way to say, from 10pm-5am you can keep the light on. Also, firmware updates are not scheduled. It will knock out your camera for a bit, mine was quick, when an update becomes available.

Thank you for trying out this product and for your feedback HoMi3.

With regard to wanting to leave the lights on for a longer period than 300 seconds (5min), if you go to the live view screen you will see a lightbulb icon which activates the lights. Just tap this to turn them on and they will stay on for as long as you need.

For most firmware updates, we load these onto our server and then you can install them at your convenience via the Check for Updates section of the app. There may be some rare instances where we would like to push a new firmware out from our side in order to get more devices to update to it faster (one example was a firmware we pushed out to this model on 23rd November as we wanted to resolve a known timezone synching bug which some customers had observed).

Hope these extra tips are of assistance, and that you continue to enjoy this product.

It comes with stickers for you to put around your windows and doors both English and Spanish. Makes it very visible that your home is being protected. If you have any issues, they have a 24 seven online guide and troubleshooting assistance even a tech-support phone call. This company has been in business for over 30 years so they are tried and true. The floodlight is average size and comes with two very strong lights to light up any area around your home. The LED indicator and microphone are properly placed, and there is even a QR code for device pairing. I really like the adjustable camera head so if you have to place the entire system and an area where you want the light but you specifically want the camera to focus in a different direction that is possible. Make sure your Netwerk is strong or you will have signal strength issues, and your video will not come in clearly. The install literally took less than 10 minutes. Make sure to turn the breaker off to the lighting area, unplug the existing light and mount the new light after connecting the correct wires and you’re good to go. Plenty of light and the recording is fairly decent especially at night.

Overall Solid camera! Swann has been typically a reputable brand producing good products. The housing is well made, the lighting is bright and camera sees it all, day or night. What's not to love! Well there is something. I've had the opportunity of reviewing several Swann products, most recently an 8ch enforcer NVR system and I said the same thing then. What Swann refers to as PIR or True Detect is a lot of smoke and mirrors. In the Box In the box you’ve got the spotlight camera sitting on top. Next to it all your paper documents from manual, security sticker sheets, Swann cloud offerings booklet, and welcome pamphlet. Lifting those out your mounting hardware from ties, bracket, and screws. Issues The first on this list of rolling issues is an odd hour synchronization issue. No matter how many times a the timezone was set, the clock just wouldn't correct itself. This naturally spanned into how it handled recordings. Indicating a recording done at 2AM while the recorded footage was from the afternoon during the day, which typically showed them for different dates. Using the "sync with handset" wouldn't solve it. Eventually, after many attempts to correct it and resetting the device back to factory, the clock eventually corrected itself. This was short lived however, it eventually went back to where it was before. The next is the big issue. No matter what motion detection settings you use or what sensitivity you pick. This camera picks up everything from what I can only assume bugs and other insects, moving trees, and small animals. Setting detection to the lowest value, does nothing to help it. To add to the detection settings, adjustability is a matter of 3 settings in a radio button. Low, Med, and High. The only setting to offer a slider for more fine tunning is the motion activated spotlight duration. Where it shines The spotlights are extremely bright. Being in a dark outdoor environment where the details of an object aren't easily visible. Shining the light makes everything within 25'-30' clearly visible. Low light recording is phenomenal as it is very clear. The Swann security app is very easy to navigate and figure out without much need for the manual. Conclusion It's a quality built camera made to a high degree but falls short in the software area.

      Dear DJ Smooth,

Thank you for your detailed review of the new Swann 4KFLOCAM. We apologize for the problems you’ve had with Time Zone Synching and would like to let you know that Swann issued a firmware update for this product on 23rd November that should have solved this issue. Could you please double check that your floodlight is using firmware version 1.3.11 or higher, which you can check under the Technical Details section of the app.

We would also recommend checking that you have personal details such as your location completed under the profile section of the app. If detail such as an approximate location & therefore time zone is missing then that can be a cause of conflict on the system. Lastly, we would also recommend that you enable Location Services for the Swann Security App under your phone’s settings if this is not already allowed.

Please do let us know if you still see any further problems on this particular issue.

With regard to motion detection issues, from the sample images you have provided we can definitely see that the positioning of your camera is not ideal and is very likely to cause false triggers. In one of your images you have a shingle roof that is close to the camera and covers a high proportion of the images. Sunlight and its infrared energy will radiate off this type of surface and can cause false triggers of a PIR sensor. Similarly, you have a large tree very close to the camera which can have a similar effect. Our recommendation would be to angle the camera much further downwards and away from these two objects. If that is not possible, there is also a motion detection mask feature within the app which you could use to block out the roof and the tree.

If you come up with any questions or require any further assistance please know that we do offer 24 hour technical support. Click on the link provided below, then click on the blue box at the bottom right-hand corner to live chat with a technical support agent or contact us over the phone.
