Got this for an older person, not an expert gamer. The machine is easy to learn how to operate. The controls are clear as to function. It can be used on a TV with the enclosed HDMI cable or as a handheld game. Easy to connect to the TV. Can purchase games on physical chips which can be switched out for other games. By joining the Nintendo club games can be downloaded to the machine and are always available to play without manually changing the game disc. Some games are free and others are at greatly reduced prices. The most popular cost list price. Overall, it is a fine machine.

The Switch is a good system to use as both home entertainment and entertainment on the road. Just make sure to get a large enough card for games.

I absolutely love this thing! I bought a Switch thinking it might be a good coping mechanism for the ongoing pandemic quarantine and boy was I right. I'm not a gamer, haven't played in years since my kids were little, but now I'm obsesses with Mario Kart and Animal Crossing and this little system is so much fun to use. It's great to have the option to carry it around and play it and it's really comfortable in your hands. It's also nice to dock it and play on the TV for multiple players and for a larger screen. If you can find one in stock, don't hesitate - buy it!!

I held out on not buying the first version of the switch and I'm glad I did. I forgot about the switch and had a nostalgia wave one night of Zelda. So being a grown adult I decided to order a switch and cannot stop playing. The improvements over the old switch seem to be the battery life, screen brightness, joycons (minor change), and the screen color accuracy 6700K. I notice I was getting distracted from daily home chores so I had to pull back unfortunately. It works, and Best buy had my order ready to go less than an hour. I recommend it for sure it you do not already own a switch.

By this time there are few things that I can say about this console that has not been said before. If you want a console that gives you all the fun, the Nintendo Switch is the best option, since it gives you the portability that other consoles can not give you. The Joy-cons feel good, Display Picture is gorgeous Battery life is perfect. And finally the games are great. *Cons ... you must buy an SD.

Good system for home or on the go gaming. Not as powerful as the competition, but it doesn't need to be. The games from Nintendo are really fun.

It’s really SO cool that you can seamlessly take your game from tv to an on the go tablet. This is really helpful when your kid is in the middle of a game and you need to get out the door! The versatility of one controller breaking into two pieces for two people to use if needed (not my preferred method) is well thought out. I balked and hesitated on buying this for a long long time, since we had DSs, Xbox’s, etc... but this one is really like a LIFESTYLE gaming system and will get the most use in our house. Also. Buy over cooked. And don’t forget to ask for the amazon price match.

Like the flexibility of being able to take it with me and not requiring a TV hook-up to use. Can even use it to play with people in other cities.

Some backstory: I'm a grown woman. As a kid we had an N64 and an original PlayStation. I transitioned to PC gaming in my teens and never looked back to consoles. As an adult I have never had a Wii, Xbox, or newer-generation Playstation. I, like many others, was looking for something to do in my spare time during the COVID pandemic besides watching movies and television. I bought this console in September 2019. I don't have any existing ties to a console (all the controllers are greek to me and would need to be learned) or game franchise. Pros: - The flexibility of this console impresses me even months later. I love being able to grab the unit from the dock and walk around the house with my Pokemon Sword game uninterrupted when someone else wants to use the TV. I love being able to take my unit to a friend's house and dock there. I love being able to use the joycons separately, together in a grip, or use "pro style" controllers. It's obviously a huge selling point and it hasn't disappointed. Looking forward to travelling with it someday. - Great mix of major, indie, and free titles. We have played some of the "major" games (Pokemon) and freemium stuff (Rocket League, Asphalt 9) but gravitate toward strategy/puzzle games like Overcooked 2, Moving Out, Untitled Goose Game, and Donut County. Maybe a similar mix is available on other platforms, I'm just pleasantly surprised at the variety compared to my childhood N64 and PS1 collections. We still have lots of popular games like Zelda or Super Mario to check out in the future. Cons: - The graphics aren't amazing compared to top of the line Xbox or PS consoles. - Certain games have considerable lag/latency during gameplay. - Felt like a decent number of accessories were basically required at the get-go. Have purchased a screen protector, third party controller, hard case for travelling, grips for the individual joycons, and an SD card. Of course no games come included so the price of games is added on to that. - Almost everyone I know who's had the console for at least a year complains about the joycons breaking or drifting. I expect we'll need to replace ours at some point in the next year.

Battery life, graphics, and portability are all there. This console is far beyond a typcal tablet if that’s your concern. It’s one of those things you just have to see it to believe it.

My kids have been asking for this system for a while now, so I finally bit the bullet and bought one. Having owned a Wii-U before I knew I liked Nintendo's systems and my kids love their games, it was just a matter of buying yet another system... Fortunately my kids love it. This is a terrific, family-friendly system! Set-up was pretty easy (and my kids really had fun with it--though of course they're impatient to just get it set up already). It's all done mostly online, so an internet connection helps a lot (I genuinely have no idea if you can set it up without being online--never even thought to check). It comes with some charge, so you can start playing right away once set up is complete. One helpful hint: if you're thinking about buying one of these--or any Nintendo product for that matter--go ahead and set up a Nintendo account ahead of time. That makes set up quick, and you can control things like playtime, monitor what's been played and when, etc. Nintendo has a FANTASTIC array of parental controls that can be accessed through their website. For parents of kids--younger kids especially--this can be a lifesaver! I had my doubts about the controls but so far (a month of hard kid play--ages 6, 8 and 11) they've held up well. They seem to charge fast and hold their charge well. I also bought a wired controller since I have three kids and there's a handful of games they can all play together. The portable screen is neat and seems durable, though I'm terrified of how it will hold up to drops. With my kids ages we don't really let them port it around. The first long car-trip we take may change that--which probably means I'll be looking for some kind of durable case for it. The screen has a nice, sharp picture to it even though it's small. Two of my kids have actually played it in another room while my older kid played on one of our other systems, so it has come in handy already. As a parent I love the fact that so many of Nintendo's games are kid-friendly. While there are certainly older-kid (like me haha) games out there for the system, the ones my kids want to play are Mario Kart, Splatoon and the like. Games load fast from the cartridges. You have to be careful and make sure they get put back when you're done, as they're very small and seem super-easy to lose. There's not a lot of storage for the downloads required. We haven't needed an extra memory card yet, but probably will with just a few more games. Fortunately even the large memory cards (the system uses micro-SD cards) are pretty cheap and seem to go on sale all the time. We have a back-up ready for when we need it! We purchased two games with the system (thanks Gamers Club Unlocked!) as it doesn't come with any. If you're a GCU member hold out for a sale on the games when you buy your system--they come down to almost half-price! Otherwise all the most popular games (Mario, etc) tend to stay at the $60 mark. I've seen a bundled deal or two, but they're pretty rare. Overall this is a well-designed and family friendly system, with the best family-friendly games out there. It does a lot already, but seems like it's capable of a lot more. If you were holding out like me then wait no longer! This is a great system and well worth the money.
