Customers are saying
Customers are satisfied with the ease of use, WiFi connectivity, recording flexibility, and picture quality of the DUAL LITE OTA DVR with WiFi. Many appreciate the simple setup and the commercial skip feature, but some users experienced issues with buffering, occasional heat generation, and reception problems. The need for an external hard drive for storage is also a recurring theme. While the interface and program guide are generally well-received, performance inconsistencies were reported by a few users.

Good, but limited. Wifi not great
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This basically does what it's advertised to do, but unless you live in a small space, don't believe that the wifi FROM Tablo will reach all your TVs/computers. For it to work at all, be sure it's plugged directly into your router. Also, be sure that your antenna can get all the channels you want. We're disappointed that our PBS reception is so poor (but that's not really Tablo's fault).

Not ready for prime time!!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are numerous problems with the Tablo, both hardware and software related. If you remember the good old days of analog TV reception over the air, regardless of how good your antenna and TV receiver were, once in a time, you'd get a glitch. It would manifest itself as either snow showing up on the screen or ghosting for a second or two. It could be caused by weather, an airplane flying in or reflecting signals...there could be a lot of causes. Never the less, the image was still reasonably viewable. With digital TV, this has changed. It's an either/or situation. If the image is received strongly, the image is amazing, but if it isn't, you don't see a weak image with snow or ghosting, you see a scrambled "pixelized" image that doesn't make sense. If your system is set up well, even this shouldn't be a big deal, it just means the image and sound drop out for a fraction of a second, but once recovered it's back to hi-def digital TV. This is where the Tablo really screws up. From a hardware standpoint, the sensitivity of the Tablo seems to be inferior to that of common OTA receivers. A typical OTA digital TV receiver can receive signals of varying intensity and "pixelize" infrequently. This is not the case with the Tablo. It's sensitivity is grossly limited, so stations that show up problem free on an inexpensive OTA converter will have far fewer problems than the Tablo. That's one problem, but the bigger problem with the Tablo is its software. It can't handle ANY errors of any sort. I've used their web based app, their iPad app, and their Roku app, and all of them have the same problem: Any time a signal drop occurs, their apps just basically "blow their cookies"...they can't handle it. The web based app literally locks up. The iPad app locks up. The Roku app (which I assume Tablo wrote) may or may not lock up. The Roku app may go into a bizarre slow-motion mode where it sounds and appears like the application and sound are running at about 1/2 speed. On the good side, the unit has a slick user interface that can show everything that's available on your detected (and selected) channel. The scheduling and user interfaces are good, but for the feature to remain active for more than a day or two, you need to subscribe to their service which costs money. Overall, if they can fix the signal processing/software bugs, this unit may eventually be decent. As-is, however, unless you have VERY, VERY STRONG signal reception 24 hours a day, this unit will be problematic. At this point, I just see this as a $140 loss. Maybe they can fix these problems in the future, and if they do, I'll update this review (if possible.) I see no point in playing any more "antenna games" with this unit when this isn't required by other OTA units. A note to Tablo: Please don't post another canned response about contacting you for immediate response...I've already dealt with them.

Misleading
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The description and other reviews were very misleading. You cannot record shows from the Roku. It just has a Roku app you can use. You can ONLY record shows from a TV attenae. There are only about 5 channels in my area. I had to buy a TV attenae too just discover this disappointment.
