Bad remaster of a bad port

Loved this game when I played it back on the GC in the early 00's. My review is purely about the product released. First off: This game is not based on the GC version, but the port they did for the PS2, which took the GC version and downgraded it for the PS2 (which was less powerful and had a pretty different architecture than the more standard GC architecture when was running off AMD tech). The PS2 port ended up having issues. That is what this game's "remaster" is based off of. The "remaster" itself is passible, in so much as it will play, but you're looking at all the problems the original port had in it are left unfixed. This isn't platform specific. This isn't "xbox sucks, go playstation" or something like that. This is a result of bad/lazy porting from almost 2 decades ago. For $40 I simply won't accept this product. I simply won't pay more than ~$15 for it (but to be honest I'll probably wait until single digits). Until Bandai Namco do the actual work to make this wonderful game shine like it DESERVES to, don't reward them for this.

This is my childhood re released. I played this game when it first came out on the GameCube in 2003. I was 15 years old and I immediately fell in love with the story, the characters and the lore. When I found out it was being released I was ecstatic. I know it was released on the PS3 at a later date which I didn't get. This remastered is based on the PS3 version that is worse the original release on the GameCube. I really don't mind it I'm just glad I get to experience this game once again. One of the best Tales game ever released and my favorite jrpg. If you're a fan of jrpg and never experienced a Tales game before, I believe this is an excellent starting point.

Although a vanilla remaster, this is still one of the best Tales games ever made and finally on the Xbox. Highly recommended for new or old fans of the series.
