Solid remaster of a JRPG modern classic!

This remaster of the original Tales of Vesperia (originally on Xbox 360) still has a great charm and has aged very nicely well. The world map, solid combat, wonderful soundtrack, art direction, bosses, robust content, the cast... all of it makes for a fun JRPG experience. If you have never played Vesperia, but have played some of the newer Tales games, the combat may feel a bit dated in comparison, but still well done.

Most people already know about Vesperia, as it is highly regarded as the best in the series. I will start off by saying this is the same version that was featured on the PS3 in 2009, only this time around it is fully translated, without the need of a the "Fan Translation Patch" that only a people with a hack PS3 and Vesperia eboot could use.
Vesperia still has a remarkable charm and has aged extraordinarily well, and also happens to be my favorite in the series. The world map, great combat, soundtrack, art direction, bosses, robust content, the cast, just everything, makes for a well rounded experience. If you have never played Vesperia, but have played some of the newer Tales games, I will say that while the combat does not feel to dated, some of the newer Tales games have perfected the combat, so it may feel a little stiff to some.
No matter how much we try to give Vesperia justice and talk about the great things, we are talking about a game
that is 10 years old. However, even with that being said, I think that the combat only falls behind Xilla 2 and
Hearts R, mostly do the the aerial combat not being as versatile. With all that aside, it still stands the test of time.
I will try to list all the added content not found in the 360 version. As someone who has played the PS3 and 360 version, I will say that there is a "profound" difference, and that the upgrade is more than worth it. Also lets not forget to mention that for the first time ever, dual audio has been added!
-Features full voice acting which is almost double the size of the original script.
-Features various new characters such as Flynn and Patty.
-New mini-games such as a racing mini-game for Repede.
-New subplots, skits and main game quests as well as side quests.
-New songs added to the games soundtrack.
-Remodeled towns and new towns and dungeons.
-New bosses such as the Sword Dancer from previous Tales games and others.
-Players are able to replay boss fights at Nam Cobanda Isle.
-Higher Overlimit levels up to 8.
-More Mystic Artes including a Dual Mystic Arte with Yuri and Flynn.
-New artes, skills and equipment for characters.
-The "Artes Ball" which allows an additional 8 Artes shorcuts to be assigned.
-Features a wide variety of new character costumes.
-Includes a scene-skip feature and ability to pause anime cutscenes.
-Added Team Arena in the Coliseum which also has new battles and modes.
-Can now run around the world as Repede.
-Improved AI.
-New Attachments.
-New grade shop options to retain Fell Arm Kills.
-More trophies.

One of the last truly great JRPGs

It's hard to think that it's been 10 years. 10 years since the world of video games actually produced works of art like this one. You simply don't see video games made like this anymore, especially JRPGs in any way or shape or form. Vesperia specifically was, sadly, the last "true epic" game in the Tales series.
With this remaster, you're getting the original gem of a game in glorious HD, all the DLC, and a part of gaming history. One of the top 50 (20? 10?) JRPGs of all time for less than the price of lesser modern titles. You literally cannot go wrong here. You won't regret it no matter how many times you played the original. And if you never got the chance the first time around? Buy. Now. And don't look back.

This is a well done remastered version of the Tales game that many consider one the best in the series. Updated visuals. Story is solid and characters interesting. Combat is typical Tales.

I originally purchased this game way back in 2008 when it first came out for XBOX 360. I loved it back then and I love it now because this version is the updated PS3 version of the game which it received 2 new characters, new skits, updated story, new quests and costumes that was only available in Japan until now...
This Definitive Edition, a remastered version of its original release, is an absolute welcome to this generation of consoles and I highly recommend it!

Tales of Vesperia: DE
Once exclusive to only the Xbox 360 console in the U.S. upon its original release many years ago.
This is the PS3 version that was released in Japan that included extra content such as a new character and other content. Finally Namco decided to port over this version to the U.S. on the PS4 with all the DLC and the graphics touched up for modern consoles.
This game will take you a very long time to play through easily reaching into the 40 hour mark but if you intend on 100% the game expect to put in 150 hours into it. Overall it’s a wonderful game that is being given new life on the the PS4

When this game first came out it was on ps3 (japan only) and the Xbox 360 I never owned one but somebody in my house had one and THIS was the only game I bought for the 360! THIS GAME IS AMAZING and I was in the middle of the story when the Xbox 360 got the red ring of death messed up the disc and the system was destroyed! I was so hurt a few years later they bring this out for the ps4 I was so excited to play this game again if you never played a tales of series this really a good one to start at I promise you!

To anyone who has never played a Tales game this is a great place to start. The story comes off as just serviceable but the graphics, level design, combat and sheer amount of content should make anyone happy. One of the best RPGs on PS4.

This is a good introduction into the series for those interested in the Tales of series. Great characters and combat is one of my favorites. The only thing that would seem not fleshed out is Act 3 of the game. It starts to overstay its welcome. Otherwise the game as a whole is what one would expect in JRPG. The protagonist is one of the best representations in gaming in my opinion. Definitely a must play.

Great RPG game to add to the Tales series. This game is awesome with a great plot: story port over finally from the 360 many years back. Where do you get the port on your PS4/Nintendo switch you cannot go wrong. The controlling it good music and sound effects good. If you’re looking for a very good role-play game this is what you’re looking for.

Tales of vesperia: definitive is my first version that I get to play. I know it has different versions. I was amazed by its graphic. I did not spend many hours yet, but I can tell this game has a great combat system due to the fact that you can customized it deeply. I am into it now, and I will definitely spend more time on it. You will love it too.

I absolutely love this game. I've been playing the 'Tales of' series ever since Tales of Phantasia on the Super Famicom. Vesperia is by far the best entry since the series went 3D. The characters, writing and active time combat are incredible. The game still looks gorgeous and can compete graphically with modern JRPGs despite being 10 years old.
