Purchased 9/18/19, reviewed 10/16/19. The image on the package and the image associated with this product on Best Buy's website are not accurate. The product is more square, measuring about 3/8" x 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" with a maximum of two ports on a side. It does NOT have the cool rounded shoulders and 3 ports on one side as pictured. Not really a big deal but it left me wondering for quite a while whether I actually received the product I thought I was getting. But the numbers all match. I bought it about a month ago because I needed more USB 3 ports for my PS4 Slim (seriously, Sony, what an oversight!). I wanted to use a keyboard, arcade stick, and external hard drive simultaneously. I decided to get this one instead of the one that plugs into both of the front ports of the PS4 in case the hard drive needed a direct connection. Positive: It works just fine... if I wasn't trying to play Tekken 7 online where less than a millisecond delay can loose the match. Negative: The external hard drive must be connected directly to the PS4. This Hub introduces a touch of input delay and makes the arcade stick frustrating to use (a little more delay than using the DualShock 4 controllers wirelessly). I really didn't think the hub was going to affect the stick that much. I haven't tried it again but if I discover otherwise I'll update this review. Overall: There is nothing wrong with this USB Hub for general computing uses. It will certainly get you a few more ports to free up some on your machine, just don't expect it to be perfect for ALL tasks. I have NOT tried it on my desktop PC to see if an external hard drive will work in that application. It DOES have an external AC power supply which is one of the reasons I got this one instead of the one that plugs into both of the ports on the front of the PS4. So no worries about how much power it will output. It even has a tiny blue LED that indicates it is receiving power, which is handy if you have to plug it into an outlet that's difficult to access. Final Thoughts: While there is nothing WRONG with this product, the incorrect image and layout of the product itself irritated me and cost me significant time just trying to figure out if I was about to purchase the product I was seeking. Its performance and functionality have been acceptable for normal uses but it is NOT a piece of gaming gear. Overall I'm giving it 3 of 5 stars as the product fits my expectations for a classification of "Average." I would recommend it with caveats depending on what the user wishes to achieve.

The Best Buy salesperson recommended this when I asked for help extending my Lenovo - Yoga 910 2-in-1 laptop's USB ports. The laptop doesn't come with a dvd drive, and I needed additional ports as well (1 for USB transceiver, 1 for iPad, 1 for iPhone). I do a lot of last minute travel for elderly family caregiving, and this is an easy unit to throw in my bag and go. I've been satisfied with Targus products in the past, and so far so good!

Loved the size and ease of use, plugged it and my passport, mouse, DVD player all work without a hitch.

This works beautifully. I would highly recommend. I purchased this due to a non-powered hub that stopped working. This has several USB plugs and I am able to connect a printer, camera, keyboard and mouse to one computer usb and it works perfectly.

My laptops always have the bare minimum of USB ports and this has solved several problems: 1) increasing the port #'s, 2) adding the convenience of a de facto docking station that hi-speed peripherals stay connected to, and 3) not forcing me to compromise on the performance of those devices just because, for convenience, I'd like to keep them connected to a hub. The performance difference of leaving behind a USB2 hub has been a significant help. Reliability has been very good so far.

This a great unit if you are limited to usb ports on your computer. There is only 1 powered usb powered port the other 3 on the front are not. The power supply is 4 amp output (not shown on the outside packaging) enough to power an external hard drive. The ports are backward compatible. Targus could have done a better job explaining what's inside the package.

This worked great for my PS4 now i can have my wireless headphones and external storage plugged in at the same time as charging my spare controller

Seems to work really well, nice and zippy. I used it to connect an external hard drive, a USB Headset and a NIC card - no problemos.

Installed this on a Windows 10 machine. It was plug and play. Haven't had any issues with it. Speeds writing to and from a hard drive plugged into it are decent. My only two complaints are the price and how light the device is. The hub moves around too easy due to cable weight.

I bough this hub to connect my external midi devices to my computer music software interface. Works great.

I got this for my son's PS4 slim that only has two USB ports. He needed three ports. Works great.

If you don't need 8 USB outlets...why get them? This is small, quiet, and although it does require a separate power source, you'll forget you have it after a while. No noise, no issues. SOLID.

I bout this for my Surface Pro. It did the job, may have been more than I needed.

I just plug it in to my laptop USB 3.0 port then connect my USB 2.0 external hard drive I have my old files on. Also, plug my flash drives and external disk drive to the hub. It handles everything I plug into it. Good addition for me and it frees your laptop ports up too.

Looks sweet on my desk, it works great, and with 3.0 it gets the job done fast!

Easiliy setup and working with my Win 7 through Win 10 operating systems.

So far, this product has not failed. The hub was purchased for use in my office, and to date, all ports work, unlike some of the other cheaper hubs. Thinking about purchasing another one for my home office.

This USB hub is powered and provides a good way to expand the number of USB 3.0 (or 2.0) ports. You trade 1 3.0 port on the PC for 3 additional ports. It has enough power for external USB hard drives.
