It’s very plastic and is noisy, but does what it should - keeps my laptop cool. I think it could be built better in metal, but it works.

I like how adjustable it is, and it keeps the laptop very cool. Just a little loud.

Works great, compact and keeps my laptop cool. Fits into the backpack case with the laptop.

I saw the product on the shelf, and thought that it might help extend the life of my older laptop by helping it stay cooler. I have been using a lap pad, but to circulate air, with a fan, around the lap top seemed like a good idea. I do like the cooling holder- has been problem free. I would recommend it to anyone with a lap top that gets extra hot. There is some slight fan noise, but for me it is a quite noise.

I use my laptop a lot for school and run major software for creative projects so it tends to overheat a lot and I was getting worried so I got this Tragus chill mat. Not only does it cool my laptop within minutes but the 4 USB ports located on the back come in handy and the adjustable levels of the mat upgrade my overall desk setup! Glad I picked this one up sooner than later! Best Buy College Crew members receive products to write honest, unbiased reviews. Wanted a basic cooling system for my notebook computer and for the price the Chill Mat was exactly what I was looking for. Plus it has extra USB ports which is a very nice feature. The elevation legs tend to slip a little but is not bothersome and could very well be that I haven't locked them in correctly. Great product for the price!

This is definitely a great product. Targus is one of the leaders in Laptop Accessories. This ChillPad features 2 large cooling fans, a 4-port USB-2.0 hub (on back), and an adjustable angle stand feature. I purchased this with a new 17" Dell Inspiron laptop (which I also reviewed), and it is a great fit. It supports the laptop perfectly, and has a rubberized holder at the bottom, so you don't have to worry about scratching/marks on your wrists when you rest your palms over the bottom edge to operate the mousepad. Overall an excellent product with great quality and features to support all day computing, gaming, or watching movies/tv. Definitely recommend this to anyone needing a good ChillPad.

The only thing that I don't like is that if you drop something on the floor, on the table/desk near the chill mat it makes a funny noise, but will eventually go away after it is unplugged for awhile. Other then that I do like it very much. It really helps to keep the laptop cool plus it can be adjusted so if you are sitting on the sofa you can move it to see and be more comfortable.

This was the largest available in the store. Advertised to service a 17 " laptop. The base is not as wide as my 17" chassis. It does work as advertised in that it provides additional cooling for your laptop. The lift mechanics are poor and do not always hold lock.

This Targus chill mat keeps my laptop cool , but the fans are a little loud. It's adjustable tilt is easy to use. The non skid pads keep it from sliding on the table, The 4-port usb hub is handy.

Not only does it keep my older laptop cool, but it has additional USB ports!

My HP laptop internal fan died and allowed the laptop to overheat and shut down. The cool deck keeps the laptop cool enough but is much noiser then the original fan when it worked. This cool deck buys me time until I have to replace the computer. The HP is large and hangs over the back of the deck so when it is wide open it will tip over the back

This chill mat is a life saver. We have leather furniture, and the mat I was using before had actually stopped turning the fan, so... my laptop was sitting on a piece of plastic for all the good it was doing. The extra four USB ports in the back are a HUGE help, considering I generally have all of the USB ports on my laptop plugged up and being used almost all of the time.

It works well, but it's a bit noisy. It really helps when my laptop is running hot, though. It's easy to travel with and holds up well.

I bought this fan in October 2017. It is now April 2018. If you have a smaller sized laptop I would imagine it would work better for smaller laptops. My laptop is a wider HP Pavillion g7 and is bigger than the surface area of the contraption. The position of the fans do not line up very well with the air slots on the bottom of my laptop due to the size difference so my laptop still overheats on occasion. It would seem that the only reason this fan is keeping my laptop from overheating constantly is the adjustable height of the fan that keeps my laptop raised up from my desk to allow more air flow beneath my laptop. Although, having to have the height raised requires my screen to have to lean back further to be at a comfortable angle for me to use my laptop. I haven't had a need to use the additional USB ports on the fan so I assume that they function as they should. However, if you leave your laptop running for long periods to use those extra USB ports for charging devices and your laptop shuts down from over heating, then the ports aren't going to serve their purpose. Be sure to keep the fan clean from dust or it will not run properly (and could also cause harm to your laptop by blowing dust inside of your device). At the time that I bought the fan, it was the cheapest one that the Best Buy store had in stock and I was in desperate need of a laptop fan. It's lasted 6 months so far, though the motor in the fan was making weird noises today, as if it was working harder to run or something. I don't know how much longer the fan will last, but it's a decent fan for the price.

Works fairly well with a 17 laptop. Fans help to cool system a little but, system runs hot with an i9, so the additional cooling doesn't seem to make as much impact as one would hope.

I purchased this item for a couple of reasons - the angle adjustment and extra USB ports. The extra USB ports are nice to have, but the two fans are very noisy. I tried dampening the noise with WD-40 and that only reduced the fan noise a little. So, I keep it unplugged from my computer until I really need to use something that is plugged into the extra ports. When plugged into my laptop, high powered devices do not perform that well. Targus indicates you can purchase the power adapter for this mat, but it is nowhere to be found on their website. I searched and found that a few resellers have it on Amazon. I ended up buying a $10 universal power adapter at Walmart and it works just fine. I was getting tired of plugging and unplugging all of my USB cables every day and night when I leave for and get back from work. So just plugging in a single cable and keeping the others always plugged into the extra ports is convenient. However, if any of those ports need more power for charging devices or operating USB 3.0 peripherals, it needs to be AC powered. Unfortunately, doing that speeds up the fans and increases the noise output. So, the only way to make this Chill Mat useful is to snip the wire connecting the fans. It won't help cool your laptop but it will definitely give you the convenience of the extra ports.

It’s ok, but sometimes the fans can be loud. I mostly use it for the angle I can prop it up at and to keep the laptop from overheating on just a flat surface.
