I live in south Texas, so living without air conditioning is not an option. I've had my home's HVAC break down a couple times over the years and going days between fixes was pure misery. I've always wanted an option for not just back-up cooling, but to more efficiently cool just one room instead of keeping a 2300 sq ft house cool. This unit from TCL accomplishes both of these goals for me. In my home, overnight while we sleep, I've always felt we are wasting electricity cooling the whole upstairs and downstairs areas. So I've enjoyed the efficiency of keeping my HVAC off this past week in the evenings, saving on wear and tear and electrical costs. The 10,000 BTUs were more than enough to have me and my wife sleeping blissfully in the chilled air. And since I live in an HOA community, traditional window units are not an option for me. They are also an eye sore so a unit like this was perfect. Pros: - Easy to set-up/install - Multiple ways to control it (app, remote, touch display) - Quieter than other models I've seen in action - Compatible for both horizontal or vertical windows - The window slider kit works well to allow you to hook up the hoses and prevent warm air from leaking in - The wheels make the unit ultra-portable (it's a little heavy) so that I can easily move it to a room of my choosing - I thought the MSRP was reasonable for such an effective and powerful unit. If you go with a cheaper AC unit with lower BTU's, it may not get the job done. Cons: - None I can now enjoy peace of mind that in the event that my HVAC system is down for days or weeks, I have a plan and my family will not be a sweaty mess during that time. And I'm loving the ability to keep just one room extra cool for a great night's sleep. I'm very happy with this model from TCL!

I have been using the TCL 450-square-foot 10,000 BTU Q-Series Ultra-Quiet Dual Hose Inverter Smart Portable Air Conditioner for about a week, and it has been working great. I set it up in my home office, and it cools the room very well. The setup was straightforward, and I like that the design is compact enough to fit nicely without taking up too much space. It also comes with an app, but I personally prefer using the remote, which makes controlling the air conditioner quick and easy. What I really like about this unit is how efficiently and quietly it runs. The dual-hose design helps keep cool air in the room rather than letting hot air creep back in, so cooling feels faster and more consistent. The inverter technology also makes a big difference by avoiding the loud stopping and starting that some portable units have. It keeps the airflow smooth and steady, and it is quiet enough to use comfortably in my home office or even at night. Another feature I appreciate is the three-in-one operation, which cools, circulates air, and dehumidifies in a single unit. The Auto Swing feature helps distribute cool air evenly across the room, and I can also direct the airflow exactly where I want it. It is nice to know it is designed to save energy while still delivering strong cooling performance. Overall, this portable air conditioner has been a great addition to my space, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful, efficient, and ultra-quiet cooling solution for a small to medium-sized room.

I just recommended a TCL TV to a friend a few weeks ago and was pretty surprised to see that they have gotten into the portable A/C market. Given this model is a 10K BTU, dual-hose inverter A/C unit, I couldn't pass up the chance to review one. I have been looking for a dual hose model to replace the single hose 8K BTU unit that I have. Since this is an inverter unit, I figured it would do well at keeping my room comfortable without being too powerful, and that has held true for the last week. #Unboxing and first impressions# This unit came in slightly larger than my older 8K unit but it is still pretty compact. Getting it out of the box was pretty easy - just removed the packing straps and the box separates from the bottom piece, making it super easy to lift the unit out. There are handles on both sides. Prepping the unit took no time at all. The hoses are long enough and flexible enough that the TCL A/C unit doesn't need to sit directly in line with the window, which is a nice surprise. #Using the A/C# After getting the hoses connected to the window adapter and plugging the unit in, it was a breeze (sorry) to get the TCL air conditioner up and running. The unit has touch buttons on the top panel, which were a little difficult to press, but I don't imagine I'll actually use them much now that I have the unit connected to wifi/matter. The remote worked well from many angles and across the room. Setting it up in Matter (so far I've only used the official TCL app) was perhaps the easiest matter device I've used so far. The TCL app doesn't really expose any extra modes that you can't do via the remote or buttons on the unit itself, but it does everything you can do with either of those inputs just fine. One of the really nice things about this unit is that it's got an inverter compressor. These are really nice for being "soft starting", in that they don't seem to require the huge in rush of amps that an older compressor requires to get running. That makes it easier to run in a room with computers or even a mini fridge without causing breakers to trip when the thing fires up. Typical running load seemed to be about 580 watts with the unit set to 72 degrees in room that started at 74. The temperature started coming down immediately from a comfort perspective. The inverter compressor doesn't seem to operate at any super low power settings, though. It just cuts off once it gets about a degree below the setpoint and then comes on (with the aforementioned slow-ish ramp-up) periodically to maintain the temperature, usually right back up to about 580 watts. My only real complaint with this TCL A/C unit is that it's louder than I expected. Given the description as being "Ulta-Quiet" and the advertised 42 db minimum sound level, I was expecting it to be able to stay quiet when it wasn't running at full tilt. Unfortunately, once the compressor kicks on it becomes a very noticeable noise, much louder than most window units even if it is quieter than the portable AC unit I'm replacing. I guess that's just a fact of life with having a compressor inside a thin and light plastic cabinet like this. #Final thoughts# If you need a powerful portable A/C unit to use where a window unit or mini split just isn't possible, this TCL 10K unit seems like a great fit. It's much more efficient than single hose portable units, and the Matter setup was fantastic. While it's louder than I would like, it is slightly quieter than my older 8K BTU portable unit. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone needing a portable air conditioner that's easy to use.

This TCL - 450 Sq. Ft. 10,000 BTU Q-Series Ultra-Quiet Dual Hose Inverter Smart Portable Air Conditioner in White is a cooling machine, but has it pros and cons. In the box you get the TCL Q-Series Portable Air Conditioner, remote control with batteries, all the paperwork, the dual hoses, all you need for the window installation of the hoses including the weather stripping, insulation, and the panels that you will more than likely need to trim down to fit your window. Setup is moderately easy. The first step is to install the application. Then you need to set the air conditioner up before you connect the unit to the app, because the unit has to be on before you connect it to the app. Connecting the unit to the app wasn’t a problem, but for some reason, it kept disconnecting. I uninstalled it and restarted my phone, reinstalled it and have had no issues since. Operation of the air conditioner. I love how I can control it with my remote, with my phone or by talking to my Amazon Alexa, which is my preferred method now. There is nothing like laying in bed and not having to get up to turn off the air conditioner. I have the timer set, but I got cold earlier than expected. So, I just said, “Alexa, turn off the Air”, and she did! So, this air conditioner is very modern and high tech. I love that. The noise is not bad either. It’s not silent, but it’s not annoyingly loud either. It makes enough noise that it helps me sleep, and not too much noise that it keeps me awake. I don’t have to turn the tv up any louder than normal. This air conditioner has 3 settings and 2 fan settings. It’s plenty cold and it’s all good. The only cons is that I wish the app was better more stable, and I wish it was easier to install the hoses in the window. The way the panels are made, made it hard for me to adjust them and trim them properly. I got them in eventually, but it took me way longer than expected. I really think that the ones that zigzag and look like an accordion would be better and would be a better option for this type of installation, but that’s just my opinion. Other than those two things, this is a great unit and I’m sure I will get a lot of use out of it.

This review is on a TCL - 450 Sq. Ft. 10,000 BTU Q-Series Ultra-Quiet Dual Hose Inverter Smart Portable Air Conditioner. I have a bonus room over my garage that isn't insulated well. So it gets really hot in this room during the summer. My current air conditioner doesn't flow air to this room due to its position with the intake. So I started looking for ways to handle the temperatures in this room. This unit is a perfect fix for my bonus room. The HOA doesn't allow window units but the exhaust is accepted. The unit comes with foam that you can put around the exhaust to help seal the window. Unit is heavy but not too heavy and has handles on the side and wheels to help easily move it around. It puts out very cold air and is doing a great job at keeping my bonus room cool. It is also very quite, even on high, and I would see no issues with trying to sleep while it is running. To add this unit to your network, select the fan button 6 times. This will put it in pairing mode. Make sure you are on a 2.4 GHz network with your phone. There is a matter code on the side of the unit that you just scan when adding the device to the TCL Home app. After scanning the code, just select the 2.4 GHz SSID that your phone is signed into. If you want to be able to control it with Alexa, connect the TCL skill app to Alexa. Then you will go into the Alexa app and it should already show up in the Alexa app. Then you will need to do the pairing feature all over again by selecting the fan 6 times. Then scan the matter code in the Alexa app and it will connect it back again to the same 2.4 GHz network that your phone is on. With Alexa you can turn it on/off. Change the temperature and fan speed. Create a schedule of when to turn it on/off. This can all be done away from home. In the TCL app you can turn it on/off. It will show you a picture like a thermostat with the degrees you have set it to. You can use the app to generate a sharable matter code to setup elsewhere. It will show you other information such as firmware version, device ID, owner, Wi-Fi name and time of bonding. As the unit will fill with condensation, you have 3 options. You can put a pan under the unit and open the drain, attach the provided drain line to a bucket, or attach a hose for continuous drainage. I would recommend this unit to anyone that needs to keep a small room cool.

I am enjoying this portable AC unit so far. It works very well and cools the room it’s in very well. The unit is kind of heavy, and pretty tall. It’s larger than I expected it to be, but not an issue. It has wheels, so no need to have to lift it. Surprisingly, it’s not a loud unit. I have a different model that was pretty noisy. This unit contains a dual hose rapidcomfort installation kit. It also comes with a remote control. The window slider kit was easy to set up. It fit nicely in my window. The instructions were clear. The dual hoses was different, but so far no issues. It should help pull out the hot air. This unit will be primarily used in my den, because it gets so hot even with the main AC unit going. It will take some of the stress off of that unit during the hot summer months. I am not sure I will be able to use with our generator during power outages during hurricane season, a smaller one would probably be better. It only took about 30 miniatures to really cool off the den. The room is open, so there is no door to keep the air only in that room. The instructions come in English, Spanish and French. The unit comes with 2 exhaust hoses, the window slider kit, the remote control, foam insulation, and a drain hose. So far I am pleased with this unit. I’m sure it will last a while. It’s a perfect portable unit.

It is not quite summer yet, but i'm getting a early start. This is for the upstairs as I always found it much warmer and muggy (humid). I live in Texas so we get very hot humid summers. The box which this unit came in was not large for what it is, but it seemed heavy. Unboxing was a lot when you consider the accessories and the heavy unit itself. It was very acceptable looking. The window installing part seemed very soft and took some work with duct tape before i felt confident. I noticed light coming in and was not comfortable with that. The remote control was a nice feature and will be well used. The unit seemed very efficient in cooling although it was not a very hot day. I could feel the different instantly and that was well liked. On high fan speed, the unit was very loud, and subsequent lowering of fan speeds seemed to help. Even on the lowest speed, it was better but still loud even though I am not a light sleeper. Stop and start of the ac portion was acceptable and fairly transparent. After a few nights, I am very OK with this air conditioned. It serves its purpose and has helped drastically with humidity and comfort while sleeping. I found that the vent hose got quite hot, and the window installation kit could be improved. Duct tape helped but was not the ideal solution. All in all I am OK with this unit and hopefully will be even more useful during a Texas hot summer.

I have a lot of different problems with my AC at house number two. I have an even bigger problem with what I now call my server room with all my computers admitting more BTU heat than 10 humans hugging together. Furthermore, you need a little something to get you over to hump. Not to mention when I'm in there trying to work. It doesn't help when the heat rises faster than Florida heat which is very impressive. This little TCL miracle worker here with a built-in app is exactly what the doctor ordered. It definitely cools off the space equivalent to a master bedroom. I dare say some of it gets outside of the room which is a good thing. That means it's trying its best to compensate for the lame AC that I keep having to get fixed. Even after the AC is fixed, I'm going to keep this thing around to keep this room cool. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a high BTU heat problem because it definitely solves it. I imagine it would be good as a space AC as well. For my Florida people this is a must for that little area or that room and our very long house too far away for our AC to reach. Perfect. Definitely love this unit and recommend it to anybody who thinks they need to be just a little cooler.
