    We love this AC!

This AC does a great job at cooling my family’s downstairs area. It great that it connects to Alexa, and we can easily have it start/stop according to our daily plans. It does a great job at maintaining the temperature of our downstairs area too, rather than it turning on/off like other units I’ve had, this one continues to quietly run, and changes the temp of the air it’s blowing. We live it. :) The only caveat for us, is the touch buttons being on top of the unit, as our cats climb on everything and anything. To avoid them stepping on the buttons we taped a small piece of cardboard up top.

    Quiet and keeps cool

I’ve bought multiple portable AC’s , the duel hose keeps room cooler. The unit is quieter than others. I would recommend measure how long you need the hose to be , seems shorter then others.

TCL Q‑Series Portable AC - A Cool Lifesaver

Unboxing: Heavy, But in a Good Way When the TCL QSeries Ultra-Quiet Dual Hose Inverter Smart Portable Air Conditioner showed up at my door, the first thing I noticed was the weight - about 75 pounds. This thing is *solid*. Definitely a two-person lift unless you’re feeling heroic. But honestly, the weight gave me confidence that this wasn’t another flimsy, disposable portable AC. Inside the box, TCL includes everything you need - and I mean everything. The remote comes with batteries (bless them), the dual-hose system is neatly packed, and the window adapters extend up to 89 inches, which is a lifesaver if you have wide or awkward windows. There’s even a drip hose to route condensation safely, so you’re not dealing with puddles or mystery leaks later. It’s one of the few times I’ve opened an appliance and felt like the company actually thought through the setup experience. Setup: From Box to Cold Air in 15 Minutes I’m not exaggerating when I say this thing is ridiculously easy to install. Even if you’ve never touched a portable AC before, you can have it running in about 15 minutes. No confusing diagrams, no weird tools, no swearing at plastic parts that don’t fit. You pop in the window adapter, twist on the hoses, plug it in, and boom - cold air. When it’s 105°F outside and your house feels like a toaster, that fast setup is everything. And moving it between rooms later is just as simple, which is great if you want to cool your bedroom at night and your living room during the day. Performance: Quiet, Powerful, and Shockingly Good in Desert Heat I live in a brutally hot, dry area, so I’m used to portable ACs struggling. Most of them sound like they’re chewing gravel and barely make a dent in the temperature. This TCL unit is the opposite. It’s *quiet* - genuinely quiet - and the cooling power is impressive. The dual-hose system had me skeptical at first since one hose pulls in scorching outdoor air, but it still cools like a champ. Honestly, it performs on par with a window unit, and in some ways better, because you can move it wherever you need it. The 10,000 BTU rating comfortably handles rooms up to about 450 sq. ft., and it keeps the temperature steady instead of cycling loudly on and off. Smart Features: Cooling That Works Around Your Life The WiFi features are where this AC really steps into modern territory. You can control everything from your phone - temperature, mode, scheduling - and it integrates with your smart home setup if you use voice assistants. If you live in a desert climate, this is a game changer. You can turn the AC on before you get home so you’re not walking into a 110°F oven. Or set schedules so it cools only when you need it, saving energy without you having to think about it. It’s one of those features you don’t realize you’ll love until you have it. Value: Worth the Price, and Then Some Yes, the TCL QSeries costs more than bargain portable ACs. But here’s the thing: it actually *works*, and it’s built to last. Cheaper units burn out, leak, or just can’t keep up with real heat. This one reduces the load on your central AC, which means lower electricity bills and less wear on your main system. Over a summer or two, that alone makes up the price difference. Between the quiet operation, strong cooling, smart features, and overall build quality, it feels like an investment — not a temporary fix. Final Verdict After using it extensively, I can say this is hands-down one of the best portable AC units for hot, dry climates. It cools fast, runs quietly, integrates with your smart home, and saves money in the long run. If you’re tired of portable units that barely keep up, the TCL QSeries is absolutely worth it.

    Remarkably quiet unit

The TCL Q-Series portable AC is one of those products that really helps redefine a category that is generally not well liked. I’ve had a few portable ACs in the past, and while they’ve all served their purpose, I’ve pretty much hated them all. This AC is surprisingly different, because it addresses a lot of the pain points I’ve had with portable units over the years. The main thing that stands out is how quiet it actually is. Every portable AC I’ve owned has claimed “maximum cooling with minimal noise,” but none of them have ever been what I would consider quiet… or even pleasant to be around. This one is actually very quiet. I can stand right next to it and have a normal conversation without feeling like I need to raise my voice, which is something I’ve never experienced with a portable unit. This unit is smaller than I expected, but still fairly heavy. The wheels don’t have a locking function, which I would have liked to see. Size matters for my setup though, because I plan to build a support platform and mount this halfway up the wall in my garage, then cut some holds and vent it directly outside. This unit is ideal for this setup because of the dual hose design. Initially I didn’t understand the function of the dual hose, but the more I read about it, the more I realized this will solve my hot garage issue without having to fork out a ton of money for a mini-split. Most portable ACs use a single hose, which pulls air from inside the room to cool the condenser and then exhausts that air outside. That creates negative pressure, which ends up pulling hot air back into the space through gaps and cracks. Since this unit uses a dual hose system, it pulls air from outside for the condenser and keeps the conditioned air inside. It’s a much more efficient design, definitely worth the trade off for having to deal with an extra hose. I spent some time monitoring power draw using an Anker Solix battery, and the behavior here is very consistent. Under full cooling load, I’m seeing around 900–925 watts without any noticeable spikes. Based on the specs (115V / 9 amps), the unit is capable of pulling a little over 1000 watts at peak, so the fact that it’s running below that and staying steady suggests the inverter compressor is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. I kinda nerd out on this stuff, but If you ran this unit at full power 24/7, you’d be looking at roughly 700 kWh per month, which comes out to around $100 depending on your energy rates. That said, this is an absolute worst-case scenario, and very unlikely. Because this unit uses an inverter compressor, it doesn’t just turn on and off like traditional units. Instead, it ramps up and down depending on demand. As the room approaches your target temperature, you’ll see power consumption drops significantly. For example, when I switched it to fan mode, I was seeing power usage in the 25–30 watt range, which is shocking for a unit this size. This is one of those times where opting for a high cost unit will likely save in the long run, because the efficiency of the inverter and dual hose will save on energy consumption. The app setup was fairly straightforward, although there is a bit of an odd pairing sequence. You have to press the fan button several times to put the unit into pairing mode, then scan the QR code on the unit itself. Once connected, it worked without issue. The app essentially functions as a remote control on your phone, with the added ability to set timers. You can schedule the unit to turn on or off after a certain amount of time, but there doesn’t appear to be a way to create more advanced schedules or automation. I was hoping for something closer to a smart home experience, where you could trigger it based on time of day, temperature, or humidity (for example, “dusk to dawn”), but i’m not seeing that level of control. One thing that stood out during setup was the window vent kit. I have a fairly standard size window, and I still had to cut down the panel quite a bit to get everything to line up properly. Without trimming it, the panel actually blocked part of the exhaust openings, which made it impossible to connect the hoses correctly. The instructions mention that trimming may be required, but I don’t really see a scenario where this isn’t required if you are installing the vent kit horizontally in a window. Overall, this feels like a much improved version of the portable ACs I’ve used in the past. It’s still big and clunky, but it’s remarkably quiet and extremely efficient.
