Upgraded from the P series TCL from 2017. A huge difference!!! The tv is noticeably brighter on stock settings which allows you to not have to wash out the image by juicing up the brightness. This makes a big difference in HDR movies and games. HDR was way too dark on the P series. This tv does a great job with showing off the HDR image that the content creators created. Xbox One X games look great. Netflix Dolby Vision looks great too. Off angle viewing is acceptable, a little washed out but not as bad as the P series. The only issue I have is with UHD movies on FandangoNow. They are way too dark with no option to change picture settings. I’m thinking this is a big and will be fixed in an update.
The contrast ratio is the best I’ve seen for the price. Blacks are super black and that makes a difference in the image.
I would suggest purchasing at a store verses Amazon. My panel was perfect and had no issues with banding and dead pixels. A little vignetting but not to the point of degrading the image. Remember this is still a $600 tv.

Love love love my tv. The viewing experience is amazing. I will never again purchase a priced tv just for the name. The color, the clarity and the price-couldn’t get any better. I’m sticking with TCL for any future purchases.

Our family room tv went out and I was on the market for 50” size to replace the one we had. I first bought a Samsung Q60r 49” and was happy with it for most typical viewing until it was night time or HDR content, not very good black level. It’s what I expected partially from a non local dimming lcd display, but for the price should have been a little better in my opinion. I decided to exchange for a Sony XG800 55” open box based on store recommendation and returned it the next morning, no improvement over Samsung, I should have known. I went out on a limb and exchanged again for this tv and I’m just blown away with the picture quality as a whole and build quality of the tv, nice looking too. Time will tell of it holds up, but picture is outstanding. Can’t recommend it enough, I’d say it easily rivals the Samsung Q70r for a lot less.

This is the best tv you can buy for the price. Blacks are deep. HDR is bright and detailed. Great tv for video games with low input lag. Only downside is it’s not the best tv for sports as it has some motion blur which is not very noticeable under most conditions. This tv out performs many other ones that cost much more. Plus Roku is great.

I have had Samsung TVs forever and I still feel that for the money, they are great TVs. but after reading several reviews on this set (and not to mention it was less expensive than a Samsung), I decided to try it out and move into the QLED world. Motion is fluid on the screen; colors are extremely vibrant; and the picture quality is well worth the purchase. I would put this TV tight up there with a Samsung. If you are still watching TV in 1080p, upgrade; it's worth it. I will give it two knocks:
1. The stands are located at the edges of the TV, so unless it is going to be hung on the wall, take measurements.
2. Have a sound bar, cable box, blu ray player? Prepare to use multiple remotes. Luckily, my xfinity cable box was able to control my Bose soundbar, so I only have to deal with two remotes; it's still a pain, but I can live with it.
If your heart is set on a Samsung or Sony TV, then buy what you really want, but if you want a really good TV, but don't want to break the bank, then this is a good TV with which to start.

I just purchased this TV over the weekend along with a Sony UBP-X800M2 4k blu-Ray Player.
While I can’t compare this 2019 mode to last years model, the addition of QLED seems to have been the icing on the cake for this TV. It really has an amazing picture at this price and it pairs very nicely with the Sony player. Dolby Vision and standard HDR content look excellent from the player and the TVs Roku System. The Roku interface on the television is also very intuitive and functional. The settings menu is also simplified in a way that makes it easy for more novice owners to set up their picture settings. The TVs built in speakers aren’t mind blowing, but if you don’t want to invest in a sound bar, the TV speakers are good enough to hold you over for awhile and better than others I’ve heard.
The only thing I’m a little disappointed about is that TCL has yet to release the iPQ calibration app. While this may only provide minimal calibration, it will be a cool addition to help simplify calibration for less experienced users and I’m curious to see how good it is.
Considering the vast array of features and excellent picture quality, I really don’t think anything beats it for the price. Hi sense and Vizio have some serious competition and I’d put this above those on features list alone. And I did not experience any of the QC issues some people experience and I’m hoping that’s a sign TCL cleared that problem up.

Purchased this set yesterday (1/18/20) from Best Buy. I've been looking for a while and couldn't pass up the extra 15% off. Took me less than 30 minutes to hang and set up.
For less than $500 (including tax) you get a 4k qled TV. Unbelievable.

If you're reading this review I'm sure you've seen lots of other professional reviews - so I won't go into the specifics of the screen quality (it's everything you'd expect).
Here's what else I like:
Voice control on remote. Works surprisingly well for finding what you want to watch through installed streaming services. I mostly use it to quickly set a sleep timer. Though somewhat silly to do so, you can ask the TV to shut off or play/pause whatever your watching by pressing the voice control button.
Sound quality. I don't know what other reviewers are thinking. For built-in TV speakers, they're pretty good. Mounted on the bottom of the TV, sounds natural. You won't have a home theater experience, but watching Hamilton cranked up is still a pretty nice. The sound is can be adjusted (a few modes including artificial surround) and the dialogue enhancer works really well over our air conditioner drone.
Wireless screen mirroring. This works without any additional apps to mirror my Windows laptop screen. Occasionally sound will not play through the TV and I have to disconnect and reconnect, but that may be my laptop more than the TV's fault.
What I don't like:
When connected on wifi the TV occasionally will not immediately connect after waking. This is surprising since the TV is not truly turned off with the power button but merely sleeping. (This is what brings it from 5 stars to 4)
Standby/power light cannot be turned off. It also flashes every time a button is pressed on the remote. I stopped noticing this after the first week of ownership.
During the first month of ownership some apps would freeze on start-up. By going to the system settings and restarting the TV this would fix the problem. There must have been an update because this has stopped being a problem.
BIGGEST ISSUE: Dedicated Netflix/Hulu/Etc. buttons on the remote are far too easy to press and will exit you from other apps immediately. Since the remote doesn't use IR to send signals to the TV, even if it's buried under pillows/blankets this can happen!
Overall, I'm very happy with this TV and it's been a tremendous value. I absolutely recommend to anyone looking for the best bang for their buck.

I did my comparisons for months before purchasing this TV.
I am VERY satisfied.
It has everything I was looking for in a 4K TV! Great picture, lots of display options, vibrant colors and perfect brightness especially in my living room that contains a Skylight!
I am also a gamer and this tv looks great with my PS4 and my Xbox One with 4K! I played Madden, FIFA, Mortal Kombat 11 and Halo and the picture was great on all! No motion Blur issues either!
The 4 inputs are welcome for all my devices.
This TV was rated a BEST BUY by CNET and they were right!

I cannot believe this $500 55" tv would blow away my over 1k Samsung in picture quality dimming zones and contrast, I am just amazed of how this tv performs and has all the features that Samsung tvs lack, like Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, Game mode, Auto Low Latency 120hertz panel and so easy to use with Roku integrated, Simply love it, also a update for HDMI 2.1 and Freesync is coming.

A lot of people give this TV a bad wrap mainly because of the motion smoothing. My advise is to get families with the settings and turn off smoothing when it’s an issue. Settings are super simple. Also love the Roku software. Everything is easy to navigate and even the wife is super excited about that. This is a beast of a TV and surprisingly built sturdy. It packs a punch with a clear picture and a strong sound. Love the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos features. The TV let’s you know when you are viewing that content. It doesn’t compare to OLED but it isn’t supposed to when OLED is $1,000 more. People also complained about the sound. My TCL is in the bedroom and is just fine. If you get this TV for a family space then I would get a sound-bar out of preference. Again, the sound is just fine and you don’t have to have a sound-bar to enjoy this TV. Get this TV. For the price you won’t regret it!

This TV was purchased as a gift for my son. The picture quality is great I want to trade my 60" LCD TV for the larger version of this TV. Roku was pretty easy to figure out, and can still get Amazon Prime stuff without a Firestick so bonus. Only issue was the feet were too far apart for his stand, so we had to order aftermarket pedestal which worked like a charm. He loves it and a HUGE upgrade from his previous 32" Samsung.

I wanted to love this tv

As my headline says, I really wanted to love this tv. I also own the 6 series from last year and all I wanted was that this tv would correct a couple of the things that the 2018 model did incorrectly. That is where the pros start and end. This tv corrects my major complaints I had with the 2018 model completely.
Where this starts to get upsetting is what this tv doesn't do right.
First off it is not quite as bright as last years model. I noticed this right away in HDR content but it is still at an acceptable level and it produces a really nice clean picture.
The one MAJOR thing that just makes this tv worthless to me is the motion. It is absolutely the worst I have ever seen. 4K movies barely look 4K because there is so much motion blur on the screen from just subtle movements. In gaming it is even worse. Try watching the opening sequence in Spiderman for the PS4. It is unwatchable. You can add motion enhancement to make it look good but that is out of game mode and that creates some serious input lag that makes games not very fun to play.
Overall I wish I would have gone with my gut instinct and returned this tv when I had the chance. Now I am stuck with it and I will probably end up digging out the 2018 model again and put this tv away.
It is an understatement to say I am disappointed because I was truly rooting for this tv.

Hi Samoth,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, advanced picture settings, and more. Pros:
The picture is amazing and the user interface is great. Easy to use and setup. Build seems sturdy. Not sure what the other meant about flimsy legs or stuff coming apart. Haven’t Had any issues. Plenty of ports to get all your devices and other stuff hooked up directly. Remote build makes more sense than most remotes and is responsive. Haven’t had any issues with it crashing or turning off and on. I have the Ethernet hooked directly for good internet connection, and have most devices hooked up to it via HDMI, including a fairly basic Sony sound bar with subwoofer via HDMI ARC. The audio on the TV seems to sound pretty dang good but still, the sound sounds as flat as the tv. You’ll never get good full audio through a flatscreen. The tv seems to just grab anything you hook up to it without having to do much configuration so that’s great. Overall satisfied with experience. No complaints with video games. Play a lot of the popular games, (COD, resident evil, etc) and it seems to be the one area where I don’t notice the refresh rate much... that leads me to the following:
Cons: my one major complaint, and could be more major for others, depending on media you like to watch, is the refresh rate. It’s a joke. Really, it’s a joke. It’s 60hrtz on a 55in 4K TV. Don’t let their software lingo fool you into thinking it can actually upscale to even 120, let alone 240. I contemplated putting three stars instead of 4, but overall its an upgrade from my 6yr old Sharp 1080p that had an ancient interface and issues picking up what you hooked up to it. That being said, there are certain movies, shows, etc where I think to myself even my parents 12yr old (or more) Sony hdtv looks a million times better on these really fast and action packed scenes.
Don’t regret my purchase at all after about 2months. But my honest opinion? If you think refresh rate will get to you, it will. Either get this tv on sale/discounted, or pay more for some of the premium TVs with true 120hrtz (Sony, LG, Samsung, Visio)...

Bought this TV as a replacement for one we had just inherited from my wife's grandfather. I accidentally broke part of his while transporting it but didn't notice until it had already been mounted and plugged in. Wife and I decided to not go back to our smaller TV and so I told her to look into TCL tvs. I had had a Vizio for almost 10 years and when I am ready to buy for my game room I will be looking at Vizio. Wife didn't want to get a Vizio because she thought my old TV (2009 model) got too hot. So with very little thought or research I knew I had read some good things about this TV and she read some things and we bought it for our family TV. Not for me to game on, that is why I have a nice monitor. This TV seems fine for the most part but on occasion I have noticed some weird effect with quick movement. First noticed watching one of the Pirates movies on some regular station. I was a little concerned and did some research and read this TV does have motion issues. I just noticed something last night watching a Law and Order rerun. However, for my son's 4th birthday he wanted to watch Cars and so I believe we watched it in 4k on Disney Plus and it was beautiful/stunning (I had never seen the movie in its entirety) and I didn't notice any movement issues. I figured we needed a "live" movie to put it to the test and so we also watched Guardians of the Galaxy, again with no issues. My conclusion is that this TV has some issues but there is probably a setting for dealing with it and a solution for one issue may not work for another. I just haven't really read a manual or gotten really into all the adjustments. Mostly this is my wife's TV. I had a 2009 Vizio 42" that was supposed to be 120hz and I never had motion issues with that. Overall this seems to be a good TV but I am still going to look at Vizio's latest when it is time for me to get "My" TV for the gameroom.

The TCL R625 6 Series is an outstanding television. You're getting QLED, edge-to-edge glass display, wide color gamut, HDR10/HLG/Dolby Vision at around 1000 nits peak brightness, FALD (Full Array Local Dimming), and on and on. Not only that, the television is very attractive with its edge-to-edge glass screen, its brushed metal bezel, its sleek piano black back, etc. Its look & features are very similar to Samsung's Q90R line, but at a fraction of the cost.
One of the most impressive things about the R625 is how bright & dark it can get. The screen can get so black that it appears like it's turned off. That's quite a feat since normally you only get inky blacks like that from OLED's.
While there are going to be a few drawbacks when you're getting so much TV for so little money, this is among the best televisions in this price range. You simply will not get the same features in an LG, Samsung, Sony in a TV <$1000.

Our old TV died and we needed a replacement quickly. I wanted HDR and good overall performance. This TV was right at the price-point I was hoping to spend and has more than met my expectations. Obviously a TV at this price $500-700 is not going to be equal to an OLED or other high-end option. That being said, I have been very pleased with the picture quality and the integrated ROKU operating system. The only thing that is a little different (at least for me) is each time you turn the TV on, you land on a home screen where you have to select an input, as opposed to just turning the TV on and viewing whatever your last input choice was. That has taken a little getting used to, but is not bothersome or particularly cumbersome.
Also, be sure to note the measurements of this TV. The legs are all the way at the extreme ends of the TV, not in the middle like many other competitors. If you intend to use a TV stand narrower than the TV, this is not the product for you, so just be aware. Even though our TV is being used with surround sound, prior to getting it hooked up, I was really impressed with the audio quality the speakers provided.
Overall, the TV seems to be well-built and of good quality. You may or may not have access to much 4k content at this point, but when you are able to view it, the TV performs well. In short, if you're looking for a TV that won't break the bank, but that betters its direct competitors, this is an excellent option and should be near the top of your list.

Look no further for a budget priced TV. The 6 Series is easily as good as Sony's base model TV at half the price. The 6 Series has more nits than the Visio M8 Series. I saw the Visio M8 55" on display. However, Best Buy did not have the TCL-6 series on display. I took a chance on the TCL because I can't afford Sony TV's any more. So far so good.
