Customers are positive about the Grand Class Network Integrated Audio Amplifier's sound quality, connectivity, HDMI ARC, design, Spotify, and setup. They appreciate the crisp music, easy setup, and the convenience of connecting to the internet and hooking up floor speakers. The HDMI ARC port is particularly praised for liberating TV audio from soundbars. However, some customers would prefer a larger display for quicker source selection.

My first 2 Technics sound equipment were a Tape Deck and turntable. They were awesome and lasted decades, delivering high fidelity sound for years. So I have been a fan of Technics brand for a long time. But wow! This amplifier was a pleasant surprise. At first glance, it seems like a vintage stereo system. It has a left and right channel stereo and based on the specification an excellent signal to noise ratio, with high quality semiconductors on Power supply and the independent amps. I would be totally ok if it was only that. I love a good performance amplifier, and I was sure that this one would deliver great. But this unit does much more than that. There were many things that I liked about this Amp, starting from the setup, it comes with a physical manual! It is true that page 4 has a QR code where you can download a more detailed manual, but the printed manual and the quick start guide helps me a lot to start using the SU-GX70 without having spending too much time and putting my glasses to read the pdf on the phone. Don’t be fooled by the slim design and its weight (17 x 4 x 13in), it looks small but this amp is very powerful with a neat sound. The finish feels well-made and works straight out of the box. Very intuitive to use, all the controls are available and easy to understand, whether you use the physical dials, the Remote Control, or the app. The look resembles the old vintage classy 70s amplifiers like the times when sound systems were built to last with exceptional performance. It has a full metal chassis, with touch screen display. Supports impedance from 4 to 16 ohms, with a 80Watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms. The design is simple, but elegant. On the front you have a “USB-A”, that will allows you to play mp3, or if you want to apply a firmware update this is the port you have to use, and there is a 6.5mm headphone jack. At the back, the RCA inputs for moving magnet phono stage, L-R RCA for Line in 1, L-R RCA for Line in 2, FM Antenna (so it comes with traditional FM radio!), Coaxial input, 2 optical ports, 2 RCA preouts for either an Amplifier or Subwoofer, an Ethernet port, Speakers left and right terminals, a “USB-B” port where you can connect the PC or any other device with ta USB 2.0 cable, and I left this one for the end, because is my favorite, the ARC HDMI port. Inside the box you will find The Amp, FM antenna, Remote control, 2 AAA batteries, the user manual and a quick start guide. So I started with the quick guide, following the easy 4 steps, changing the setting from “off” to “on” for the Wi-Fi (you will see this on the front display of the unit, and you have to use the arrows on the RC), and downloaded the Google home app on our phone by scanning the QR code, because it has a Chromecast built in, you can connect the unit to the Wi-Fi, and both, either phone or tablet and the SU-GX70 should be in the same Wi-Fi network. On the Google Home you assign a name to the unit, but keep in mind that this name is the one that will be listed in the BT device list on your phone when you want to pair it and if you want to stream music through BT, so now the unit is ready to stream music over Wi-Fi, using the google home and all the audio apps available to cast. So I played different sources, starting by casting Spotify, Line in using a Cd player, phono input with my turntable, and I also connected a USB drive with some mp3’s. Crispy and pure sound, very satisfying. On the front you have two knobs, Volume control and input selector, and the power. Simple and intuitive was the whole learning process that I experienced while I was playing with this unit. You can also install the “Technics Audio Center” app. You can stream via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and from here, you have many different options, many of them listed on the Technics app for streaming: Amazon Music, Spotify, Tidal, Internet Radio, Qobuz. The physical inputs can also be selected through the app as well, and you can adjust the Balance between left and right, tone, ad there are some sound digital filters for each input, and you can even power off the unit from this app. There are a lot of different features that this amp can offer, that I am not sure where to begin. Let me start by saying that I found out with this unit that Technics/Panasonic made sure that everything was built at a high quality and high res streaming amplifier from the source, either analog or digital, to the end. The first hint that lead me to that conclusion was that this amp have independent power supplies per amp and for the other circuit functions, with a fully digital amplifier. If I recall correctly from what I read, this design will ensure to prevent any noise on the process to the final sound you want to hear, clean and neat and has remarkable channel separation and wide soundstage. The front touch screen display is really useful and easy to operate. For me the a decisive test was the phono input for turntable. Phono input is a challenge for any amplifier, since the there is a long way to run from the preamp phono stage, then digital processing and the final Power amp. The speakers I used for testing were a set of Martin Logan F-100, a Klipsch Subwoofer and a Technics/Panasonic turntable with a blue Ortofon cartridge. I played the Beethoven 9th Symphony. I heard the Finale many times, it was so clear, with a perfect balance between the volume variations, I didn’t need to increase the volume too much because this amp delivers with so much clarity and provides the tiny details of every instrument of the orchestra, as well as the chorus, very impressive. No distortion even going all the way up with the volume. Then I started to stream music of all kinds, classical, Rock, Country, mostly over Wi-Fi, and even if I am not a huge fan of BT streaming, I paired my phone for BT connection using the Technics app, very easy. But streaming over Wi-Fi was like listening to a CD player. Now, you have to take in consideration that this amp is focused on playing music, and streaming. Music typically have been recorded in 2 channels, left and right, either monoaural or Stereo, and this is what this amp does the best, plus the excellent streaming capabilities. On the other hand, for movies, market offers Home Theaters where you can have the 5.1 or 7.1 audio signal decoding in order to reach a surrounding effect. However, I was willing to try the ARC HDMI port to see what can I get. I connected the HDMI ARC port to my Sony Bravia and Sony Blu Ray so It will turn the amp into a 2.1 home theater. The TV adjusted automatically the digital format, and I can say that it was a really pleased, watching Avatar, Top Gun, the explosions, jet rumble, makes the whole living room shakes. So with the Technics SU-GX70, basically you can have the 2 worlds, Music and Movies in one unit. I am very happy that finally I have the perfect complement for my Technics Turntable, ensuring an outstanding high fidelity sound. This is the long time missed amplifier designed to guarantee neat and powerful sound experience, doesn’t matter the source, and much more.

The Technics SU-GX70 is a versatile network streaming amplifier that shares many of the outstanding sonic characteristics of its smaller brother the SA-C600. To my ears, it produces a pristine, neutral, and well-balanced sound that I love very much. The build quality is phenomenal and I love the compact size and aesthetics of this amplifier. It’s the perfect amplifier for those who want to downsize from a behemoth home theater surround sound setup and focus more on music and improved audio quality. The SU-GX70 comes with a ton of support for different audio sources. It supports FM radio, USB flash drive playback, playback from a PC USB connection, and has one phono in, two line in, two digital optical connections, one digital coax connection and an HDMI port. It also offers flexible support for streaming music services (i.e. Internet Radio, Chromecast, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Spotify etc.) as well as Bluetooth and home DLNA media servers, Output connections include support for stereo speakers and a PRE OUT that you can connect to an external amplifier or to a subwoofer. I prefer a single dedicated subwoofer connector instead of using a PRE OUT for connecting to a subwoofer. It just seems weird that you can use either the L or R PRE OUT connectors for this purpose but it seems to work. The main difference between the SU-GX70 and the SA-C600 is that the SU-GX70 lacks a built-in CD player but comes with more physical input ports and is built with higher quality components and features such as LAPC speaker calibration. The box came packed with the amplifier itself, a remote and batteries, an AC power supply cord, an FM indoor antenna and a user manual. Setup was very easy. I used the Google Home app to set up wireless networking. The Google Home app was able to “see” the SU-GX70 and was able to quickly set up the amplifier to use my home wireless network. After using the Google Home app to set up the wireless network, you can use either the included physical remote for basic control of the SU-GX70 or download an app called the “Technics Audio Center” for complete control and customization of the amplifier. With the app, you have access to advanced settings such as Space Tune to calibrate the sound according to your speaker’s placement and room acoustics. There are presets for Free, Wall, Corner or “In a Shelf” placement of your speakers. There is also an option called “Measured” where you use an iOS device to calibrate the device according to your room’s acoustics. I used my iPad to make a measured calibration of my living room. I noticed a big difference between the settings. I also used the LAPC speaker calibration feature with my Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speakers. This feature supposedly calibrates the amplifier to work well with any speaker you have on hand. However, I couldn’t hear much difference when toggling this feature on and off. I mostly tested streaming music using Amazon music and everything sounded great with this setup. This is probably my favorite amplifier as I think it produces a very natural, well balanced and neutral sound that feels “pristine”. All genres of music sounded great to me. Vocals and instruments sounded crisp, clear and precise. I was most interested in testing out the HDMI connection to see how well the Technics SU-GX70 would function as a home theater receiver. This was the one feature that was missing in the SA-C600 that I wished it had and I was very happy to see that the SU-GX70 now includes this feature. I connected the Technics SU-GX70 to my TCL’s HDMI ARC port and set the TCL to output in uncompressed format. The Technics SU-GX70 can’t process Dolby Audio so we need to set the TV to output in uncompressed or LPCM format. Overall I think the Technics SU-GX70 worked well as a home theater receiver and is a great alternative to a basic 2.1 soundbar system. I did notice some inconsistencies where some material sounded really great while for others it just seemed okay. Playing back movies using my Sony 4K Blu-ray player sounded fantastic. I thought the SU-GX70 provided a nice wide soundstage with crisp and clear sound and good dialog clarity using just stereo speakers and a subwoofer. For some reason, I thought Loki from Disney Plus felt a little subdued and I wanted the ability to boost the dialog up to make it more clearer to me. I didn’t experience this with other shows on other streaming services such as One Piece on Netflix which sounded really great to me. I think that the home theater experience could be improved if the Technics SU-GX70 natively supported Dolby Audio formats so that it can decode the audio itself instead of relying on an external component to decode the audio and send it to the SU-GX70 as LPCM. This might provide a more consistent listening experience with such material. In addition, it would also be great if the SU-GX70 supported audio enhancements such as a dialog mode and night mode. Overall, I think the Technics SU-GX70 is a fantastic product. It’s perfect for someone who wants a high end music audio system that can also double as a home theater system but does not want to have a bulky complicated surround sound setup. It is compact and has a really nice elegant look to it that should look nice in any room. Listening to music and watching videos with it has been an immense pleasure. I can give the Technics SU-GX70 my highest recommendation.

This is a versatile one-box streaming amplifier system that can do a lot. It has the capability for sound from HDMI ARC input. This system can play everything: turntable, CD player, digital files, internet radio, FM radio, TV sound, and Tidal streaming service. The entire box is encased in a silver metal frame with a high-quality build and finish. The few buttons and the informative display, which is a touch screen, have a sleek design and placement. The dimensions are similar to those of other systems. The system works well out of the box; I completed the installation and the connection to the Wi-Fi in under 30 minutes. Using the Google Home app, the system is not connected to my house Wi-Fi, which is great if you use Google Chromecast. Alternatively, you can use the system via Bluetooth. The built-in FM radio works great, providing an excellent signal to my favorite radio stations. There are multiple ways to connect the system: (1) two line-level inputs; (3) phono RCA; (4) optical and coaxial digital inputs; (5) a high-quality 6.3 mm headphone jack; (6) HDMI ARC; and (7) two USB ports (Type A and Type B). This is a crossover product that makes it possible not only for streaming services such as music, radio, and podcasts but also for the sound coming from video services (movies). Technics combines both types of services so that users can enjoy the great sound of an audio system as well as the video content on one system and easily switch from one source to another. What is special about this product is that the HDMI ARC does great at removing any noise from the video circuitry of the integrated digital environment. Now, when I watch high-definition movies, the sound produced by the system is of pristine quality. There is no need to use two controls to watch movies because the sound volume coming from the TV using the HDMI ARC can be controlled with the TV’s remote control. The power output is 80 watts a channel into four and 40 watts a channel into eight. This awesome high-end audio network integrated amplifier system allows you to listen to music/audio from nearly every connection type, source connectivity, and digital connectivity. What today's music lovers want is convenience and great sound. The music landscape that this product allows streaming is huge, from different sources and services. I like the fact that I can do all this with just one system without the need to have another system when I switch to another source or streaming service.

Digital Amplifier with Unlimited Streaming Options

The Technics SU-GX70 is a fully digital amplifier that is capable of streaming just about anything. The design incorporates a “digital transmission system which processes signals fully digitally in all stages from input to output” and this design results in the delivery of precise signal transmissions that, in turn, deliver clearer, purer audio. The built-in streaming features of this digital amplifier seem almost unlimited. This is the first Technics amplifier to have an HDMI -ARC connection and when connected to the television through this connection, a superior sound can be achieved without the hassle of a multichannel system. Having the HDMI-ARC incorporated into the amplifier is an improvement over the other option of using an optical cable. The HDMI-ARC delivers a richer, more stable sound, and the sound is great. There are a multitude of connections possible with this amplifier and in addition to the HDMI-Arc, there are also two (2) analog stereo RCA audio output and input connections, two (2) optical connections, a stereo RCA phono input, one (1) coaxial digital input, a USB-A input for connecting thumb drives, a USB-B input for connecting computer support PCM-based files, an ethernet port for wired internet connections, speaker connections, and a stereo RCA preamp connection for connecting to a separate power amplifier. The amplifier can be wired to the internet or set up wirelessly, but this is important for all the streaming features and speakers to work properly, and if streaming from your wireless mobile or tablet device, they must all be connected to the same WIFI setup. The unit does have a dual band Wi-Fi built in as well as DAC. One of its quality features is that it is built with the JENO engine which eliminates jitter noise and helps provide a clearer sound from digital sources. The system has Chromecast Built-In and can work with Google Home or Apple Home. I believe it has been designed more around Google Home and I was surprised at how well that app worked on Apple iOS products, but it does. The amplifier works with Bluetooth and Apple Airplay and Airplay 2 compatible speakers. My only disappointment with the amplifier is that it does not work with HEOS or BluOS as I have recently purchased four (4) small HEOS speakers to scatter throughout my home. The amplifier also has FM Radio built into the system, and a few other quality features such as ‘Space Tune’ which optimizes the sound to where you have set the speakers (on a bookshelf, by a wall, etc.) and how you have set up your system. The included remote is needed to set the system up. Streaming services with built in controls include Spotify, Amazon Music, Internet Radio, Podcast, Tidal, Deezar and Qobuz. Once you set up your specific log in for the streaming system that you use, you should be good to go. Many of these are subscription, but there are several internet radio companies that are not subscription based, but free to use with an account. The Technics app is a must in setting up speakers, FM preset channels, fine-tuning sound, etc. I would just give it 3 out of 5 stars as it did not seem to be as seamless and solid as I thought it could be. Still, this is a very high-quality audio amplifier from a very reputable Japanese Corporation well known to me since my youth. I am very impressed with the amplifier as it allows me to enjoy a very, very wide range of music throughout my home by pairing it with Bluetooth or Airplay speakers. With my turn table and its dedicated phono inputs I am even able to enjoy my old vinyl collection again, and with my CD changer I can enjoy those great songs again too. Having the ability to stream all types of music and enjoy listening to it has always been a mood lifter for me. The sound coming from this amplifier is terrific, and it offers several satisfying options to fine tune that sound to near perfection. The streaming possibilities are vast, and I highly recommend that you look at it if you are looking for a very diverse streaming amplifier.

Dense, Grand Class Power - Delivered

The Technics Network Integrated Audio Amplifier SU-GX70 is as dense as it is powerful, and I’m almost embarrassed to admit how it overshadowed my 7.2 AV receiver... The construction of this unit is top-notch, with every knob feeling tight and precise. The setup is generally straightforward: power on the device and follow a series of steps using the associated app on your phone. This process mainly assists with establishing a network connection if you haven't already connected it via RJ45, and it also provides a means to control the input and playback where available. I absolutely love the subtle touch controls on the face of the unit. They operate without any lag, and there’s never a moment of doubt that a command has been registered, thanks to the confirming beep (which can be disabled in the settings menu accessible on this screen or via the app). I paired this amplifier with two ceiling-mounted, down-firing speakers and a 10” ported subwoofer that complements my home theater setup. I was blown away by how effectively it drove the speakers. It seemed to unlock a dimension of my speakers that I hadn’t experienced in the five years I’ve been using them. My first test was with the phono input, playing some new vinyl I hadn’t listened to before. The sound was perfect — so clear and robust, even with stock settings post-app setup, and on speakers that might technically be considered a bit small for this application. If there were any lows missed by the ceiling set, the subwoofer adeptly filled the gap with the output from this amp’s pre-out. The performance was equally impressive with streaming. Considering the high-quality audio available with premium streaming services, and the speed at which it’s delivered, this unit is an excellent choice for an upscale 2.1 channel amplifier setup. It helps you make the most of your space and acoustics. I assume the option to use high-quality audio while streaming is enabled on this device, though it’s hard to confirm. Nonetheless, Spotify sounds incredible as it is. Truly remarkable. A welcome feature in this version is the addition of an HDMI ARC connection, absent in previous models. This allows the unit to double as a 2.1 channel receiver, broadening the potential user base. Those who might hesitate to invest in this without such a versatile connection will find it a game-changer. I’m confident that anyone going this route will be anything but disappointed.

Technics Levels up Technology - Brilliant

When our Technics SU-GX70 arrived home, I was looking primarily for two main features, one being music, pure Streaming from our devices and most importantly a new platform for our home entertainment center. A platform that can manage and power our system while delivering front stage sound. It does. The SU-GX70 Integrated Network Audio Amplifier is a precision system from the hairline brushed aluminum front panel, through their latest exotic technologies found within, many that are borrowed from their high-end units to the minimalist design which is striking. With the addition of Technics first HDMI ARC support, proprietary to Technics it offers a power platform for the home entertainment theater. Our first take at home is the SU-GX70P performance is amazingly flawless! - “Newly equipped with an HDMI ARC, low-impact HDMI video output ensures users can enjoy high-quality music and audio from the video source.” The SU-GX70 Pushes 40w per 8-ohm channel and had my Boston Acoustics towers rocking from the vinyl and delivering Filmmaker mode music theatrically during movies. The best I can describe the experience is the system digs in and brings out the details with 100% consistency. The high, mid-range and bass all strike the right tune. If you listen closely, you may hear the drum pedals. It is that good. The SU-GX70 adds no coloration to the music/output, it is transparent. My system delivers especially high volumes, and Technics reached those highest levels with ease. If one wishes for more power, there is the pre out ready to raise that bar. Connections: - Dual Band Wi-Fi - Ethernet wired - Bluetooth/Airplay - Native Spotify - Native Amazon Music - HDMI/ARC - Headphones - Phono in - Chromecast - USB - FM Ant - Coax - Optical (2) Notes: - Jeno Engine; “used in the HDMI ARC, helping reduce degradation in sound quality caused by jitter during the transmission of digital audio signals” Very Cool - Pure Amplification Mode: simply stated the power supply is shut off to the network and HDMI removing “noise from the device or antenna.” Assuring clarity of the playback. - Twin Power Supply Circuit System - Analogue Input Using Discrete Amp Circuits - this bit of technology was adapted from the circuit used in the SU-R1000; their $10,000 Integrated Amplifier – Technics has history of borrowing from their cutting-edge productions and adapting the following developments. Lucky us The Technics SU-GX70 Network Audio Amplifier is a completely Digital system in all stages of processing. A blend of high-resolution audio and soft textures on the analogues. Amazing stuff, seemingly electronic wizardry for which the Technics is known. Cut to the chase, there is far too much tech built into the Technics SU-GX70 Network Integrated Amplifier to explore in my review, thus I encourage you if you are looking at the SU-GX70 to visit Best Buy and Technics sites for the whole story. It is a good story. For the Bottom-Line, the amp is pure joy, love the looks, love the tunes, from the take offs on the decks of Top Gun to the gentle moments in Bridges of Madison County.

If you are looking at this amp you probably have a pretty firm grasp on audio and know what you're looking for so the price probably isn't something you're going to be warry or scared of. Technics has been around a long time, regardless of who owns the name, and in that time they have a stellar reputation of being amazing products with exemplary build & sound quality. The SU-GX70PP offers nearly every conceivable connection option you could fathom. Dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/Airplay, headphone, FM, phono, usb, hdmi/hdmi-arc, Chromecast (Google Home and Apple Home) and has direct streaming connections for services from Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezar and Qobuz. There are also internet radio and podcast menu options which I interpreted to be used as settings for your favorites of those two respective things. Build quality is Technics through and through: stellar. The proper materials are used where they are supposed to be and when plastics are required, they are of superb quality and feel substantial, not cheap and brittle. The body and knobs are all metal, the screen is clear and while monotone, it is crisp and easy to read from all angles. The bottom of said screen incorporates touch controls so you do not need to have the remote with you to navigate and make adjustments. The volume knob is balanced and has a nice hefty movement to it while the input knob requires a bit of effort to break into the next notched setting. Not a bad thing, it has a satisfying "click" when this happens, and it feels more expensive than cheap...the movement doesn't feel like you're going to break anything more so it feels like closing/opening the door of a G-Wagon (look up videos for reference to get what I mean). It just feels and sounds expensive, which is a good thing. Upon finishing the initial setup (the Technics app is preferred to get everything dialed in as the on screen menu doesn't cover every aspect of setup, but said app is not required to get going) I connected to my home Wi-Fi and then to the Bluetooth of my PC as that is where I have my main music library. I played a few FLAC and FLAC24 albums through the headphone jack (using Sennheiser HD 660S2) to get a feel for how the amp sounded and mess around with some settings. Before adjusting anything, with all factory settings, I was in love with the clarity the music was presented back to me. One song in particular had a secondary guitar arrangement playing far off in the background of the mix that I had never even noticed before. This was a song I had heard too many times to count so I was intrigued to say the least as to what other things I might notice as the listening went on. After spending an hour or so going through digital files I switched over to my turntable (Technics SL-1210G-K) keeping the output to the headphones. Nothing short of spectacular. The warmth and crispness with such a setup is something that can't be achieved via day-to-day on the go setups. Sure, the mobility and not needing a lot of space is nice, and not everyone wants or realizes the difference in sound, but once you experience it it is very hard to enjoy (REALLY enjoy) music the same way. That is what the GX70 provides in spades. And for the price point it is at, it is a steal. Sure, you won't get a lot of low end window and door rattling oomph out of it, but that's not what it is built for or the intended use for it. It is meant to be used as the main hub of your system, something that you can access any and all services you may have and play them quickly through any number of connected speakers whether they be in the same room hardwired or in another room and connected remotely. If you are looking for a top notch all-in-one hub to drive your home AV, the GX70 should be at the top of your list of considerations. Even if you aren't going to use it for TV/video use, it more than holds its own in the audio realm. The sheer number of integration and input/output options makes is a worthy contender. Oh, and I will add that I wish the black model came with a black remote as the silver is not to everyone's taste (well, at least not mine).

In my basement I have an embarassingly large amount of home audio equipment. I have multiple stereo receivers, and enough speakers to open a show room. Some would say I have a problem. But the one thing I was missing was an all in one, classy yet powerful amplifier to power my Klipsch Reference Premier speakers. Plus, I am on a mission to get rid of any audio equipment that I have not used this year. My wish was granted, and I received the Technics Grand Class network amplifier. It ships in a very large box, but has a much smaller box inside with the actual amplifier. The amp is packed extremely well and includes a power cable, remote, and am/fm antenna. You plug in the unit and it is ready to go. It immediately starts with the wi-fi function as it looks to connect to your network. I already have the Google Home app, so connecting it to my home nework is super easy. All I had to do is connect two speakers to it and play some music. I have a vintage pair of KEF Q series floor standing tower speakers that I love. One quick note, the banana plugs have small covers on them plugged in that have to be removed to use banana plug connectors. They can be a little tricky to remove, but that was technically the hardest part about setting this up. I connected the speakers and playes some music off of my Spotify. I was immediately taken away into musical bliss. I was reminded of why I loved those speakers so much as the amplifier powered them with precise tones and beautiful notes. I immediately grabbed my family and asked them to have a listen to make sure it was not a placebo effect on my part. Everyone agreed that this was the best sounding music in the house thus far. The amplifier has about every feature you can ask for. It has HDMI ARC, wi-fi, Apple Air Play, Chromecast, Bluetooth, and several inputs. It even has a phono input with ground, and an AM/FM tuner. It also features a pre out for an additional source. I cannot say enough good things about this amplifier so far. It will be a mainstay in my basement for the foreseeable future. I highly recommend!

Perfect solution for music lovers with a TV

The Technics SU-GX70 (GX70) is a purpose-built audio-quality-first receiver for those who appreciate music but adds the convenience of TV audio via HDMI. Where A/V receivers are designed first for TV and movie viewing, the GX70 is for music lovers. When paired with good speakers it offers clean, faithful music reproduction from almost every kind of source from streaming services to turntables. It’s that simple, though its design is quite sophisticated. To be clear, I’m no audio snob, just a guy that enjoys music. Even when my ears were younger they were not astute enough to grant me entrance into the vaunted halls of audiophilia. But I do appreciate the discreet instrumentation in music and song and hearing it as the artist intended it to be heard. That’s why I love the GX70; it’s confident but practical. It sings with a “grand voice,” as a high end, but not audiophile, network receiver. And from what I see of its build quality, believe it will provide me years of enjoyment. But it also conveys its good value for what it offers as a high-end audio receiver (with a nod to TV use too). No carnival barkers with empty promises here. Choosing a quality 2.1 channel network receiver is a daunting task because there are a few and while similar are also different from each other. I find the GX70 a standout among its peers for many reasons but mostly because of its ARC HDMI. In addition to being a nice music-centric hi-fi system it can do double duty as an AV-ish receiver too, sans the video processing and unwanted multi-channel audio. I didn’t want an actual AV receiver. Too big, too many speakers with nowhere to put them, and, by its nature they are designed as a hybrid. So, here’s my initial thoughts and experiences after a few days use of the GX70. UNBOXING IMPRESSIONS AND SETUP It has a pleasant heft lifting it out of the box. It’s neither a brick nor a feather. Removing the Styrofoam surround reveals the wonderful sight and feel of an all-metal case. No plastic here other than the display window, and the grips on the speaker connectors, of course. All the seams are tight and smooth. The volume dial is slow and balanced for precision while the input dial has a pleasant tactile “click.” Aesthetically, pictures of it accurately capture its minimalist, but gorgeous, industrial design that bows to any decor, even “disappears” when it’s powered off or the display is fully dimmed (tip: requires flipping a setting in the app on). The display itself is a monotone OLED the serves its purpose. If you are like me you’ll mostly rely on the app, which is why the fancy full color display of other brands seems to be more of a gimmick. The bottom part of the screen has touch control transports. In reality physical buttons are less important than in my past receivers since most of my music is streamed either from a service or my computer and I use the app and remote for control functions. I won’t wade too deeply into the front and back panel connectors since they are well photographed and outlined on the product page. Suffice to say connecting components of your choice, including MM phono, is no problem. The pre-amp out can be used for an active subwoofer. It also has upscale 5-way binding posts, as one would expect on a receiver of this caliber. If you use spade lugs (my own preference) be aware the GX70 can only accommodate slimmer varieties outlined in the manual. Also of note, the headphone jack is a standard ¼” so prepare to buy a 3.5mm pin adapter or cable if you have 3.5mm headphones. Speaking of headphones, the GX70 does not natively support Bluetooth headphones or speakers as it has no Bluetooth transmitter, which is a shame for a streaming receiver. For me, this is one of the biggest negatives of this receiver. One connection I will delve into is the HDMI since it’s fairly unique to non-AV receivers and a standout on the GX70. The GX70 liberated my TV’s audio from its sound bar. The sound bar was “OK,” but mostly because my only other realistic option was the TV’s speakers. Since my family room is a multi-purpose gathering place, not a home theater, I do not want the battery of speakers an A/V receiver demands, and again no A/V receiver in the GX70’s price range is going to compete in the music reproduction area. So the GX70 solves this TV audio conundrum perfectly. Like a sound bar, a Premium HDMI cable (not included) connects the GX70 to your TVs ARC HDMI port. (You’ll also want to turn CEC functionality on your TV). Now your TV and GX70 are “one.” Turn on the TV and the GX70 turns on too. Volume can be adjusted with your TV remote just like always. Since the GX70 is an audio-only receiver the HDMI’s video functionality has been removed to avoid any unnecessary signal contamination that might muddle the sound. Additionally, when using a turntable, the HDMI can be disabled to eliminate even more extraneous signals – something A/V receivers don’t do – if they even support a phono. Back inside the product box is a basic remote. I’m not a fan because it’s physically tall but short on usability. I won’t waste words on it since the Technics Connect app is more useful for controlling the receiver, but it should have more discrete source input buttons. The app itself is functional but a bit clunky – for example you can rearrange sources, but you can’t hide ones you don’t use. Stereo receivers are uncomplicated to setup and the GX70 is no different here, though I found the instructions for connecting to Apple HomeKit vague being told to go to the iOS Home app. The rest is left for the user to figure out. I’m no tech dunce and I felt like I was in a set-up Escape Room for a few moments. Maybe that’s an exaggeration but Technics could outline the process clearer in the app and manual. Something like: in the Home app tap “+” to add a new accessory, then tap “more options.” GX70 will appear. Tap it and Wi-Fi and Home will be connected. There are other ways to connect Wi-Fi too – Chromecast and directly with your Wi-Fi router. The music streaming service you use will determine whether how you set up that service for the GX70. The GX70 natively supports almost all services and one’s that are not can be streamed via Airplay2 or Google Chromecast and at the highest quality audio both of these two protocols offer, respectively. Once you have your speakers, components, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connected, and streaming service working it’s time to calibrate the room and speakers. This is where you first experience the GX70’s magic. This process uses your phone’s microphone and the Technics Connect app, which makes it easy to recalibrate quicky, as needed – sure beats an external corded microphone many receivers require for room calibration. Unique, I think, to Technics is its Load Adaptive Phase Calibration (LAPC). I’ve certainly never encountered anything like it before. It basically calibrates the speakers to the receiver. The process takes about 4 minutes. More common in current receivers is the ability to optimize speakers to a room’s acoustics. Technic’s method for this is called “Space Tune.” Based on my ears I couldn’t really tell the difference with and without this used. However, according to the before and after graphic after the calibration, my speakers didn’t need much tweaking anyway. AUDIO QUALITY The GX70 sound, while obviously not equal to Technics “Reference Class” products, borrows from them. Listening to the GX70 it’s clear Technics put lots of thought, not just lip service, into this receiver. Its all-digital, unlike any of its competitors. Whether this is a feature is personal preference. More significant to me is its dual power supplies – one for the amp section, and a separate one for all other functions. This means fewer extraneous signals seeping into the audio for a cleaner sound. I’ll also note the GX70’s rated watts per channel isn’t impressive on paper, but it was able to fill up my 500 sq ft living room and then some distortion free. When I get any new audio equipment I like to hear it playing different genres of various tonality. The speakers used here are OG PSB Stratus Silvers. These are old, but still great high-end 4ohm towers so if the GX70 can power these it’s a cake walk for more common 8ohm speakers, provided they are efficient. I started with the EDM band Sofi Tukker and their song “Energia” with its infectious bass and, of course, high energy. The GX70 was plenty nimble for this party, able to belt out 80 decibels, according to the decibel meter app on my iPhone, before even a hint of distortion was detectible. The bass was strong and felt but without dominating. I then turned it to a background music level of 33 decibels. Every word and instrument was still clear and identifiable. Next something more restrained, but no less challenging, Leonard Cohen’s distortion inducing gravelly voice. “Chelsea Hotel No. 2,” to be specific. This is just Cohen and a guitar. Volume here was a more modest 60 decibels because cranking up Leonard Cohen is an anathema. His guitar really stands out, you can almost feel every pick. And Cohen’s voice is strong and clear. Benny Goodman’s famous layered instrumental Sing, Sing, Sing. Big drums, big sax, big bass, and, yes, Goodman’s clarinet. I cranked this one up to about 75 decibels (room noise), closed my eyes and I was in a Chicago jazz club in 1939. I hear tight and boomy drums, a mellow, yet lively sax and the clarinet’s wide pitch range was no challenge to the GX70. And again, at lower volume all of its punch or recognizability was present. In short, I think the GX70’s sound is what it should be for a music receiver of this caliber: strong and authentic to the recording. In fact, going back to the Technics app, there is no midrange adjuster – just bass and treble. At first I thought at this price there should be a full range equalizer, but as I listened I realized tone controls are not what the GX70 is about. It’s for those who enjoy purity.

There's a lot to like with the route Technics has taken this little integrated amplifier. The build quality is superb and the two knobs feel stout and heavy duty. It uses very little space vs most integrated amplifiers and also has a FM tuner built in. I have yet to use the Headphone socket, but I have a feeling that the technics will excel in this area. The usb slot on the front is for a usb drive only from what I gather. I have yet to use it for this purpose and I'm not sure if I ever will, but It doesn't work with my iPhone mini 12. Although, it does charge it when connected. So, I guess there's that. My Rotel integrated from 2017 had no issues running audio from my iPhone connected to the usb slot on its front ? So I was a little surprised the Technics didn't work in this regard. Maybe android phones will work with the front usb ? I was also hoping to run my iMac into the back of the Technics, but it looks to only be compatible per the extensive online manual with Windows computers. Which is a bummer. I will say that running my iPhones bluetooth with the technics has been pretty flawless. I just like to know I'm getting the best audio quality with connected devices vs Bluetooth. The app can be a little tricky when adjusting the tone controls. Besides that I've had no issues with it. I'm surprised that Technics doesn't give us full EQ options through the app instead of just Bass and Treble. At least an additional MID option would have been nice. Maybe we see something like this with future app updates ? I will say that I think what it lacks in power it makes up for with LAPC (calibrates the amp to match your speakers impedance) and Measured Space Tune (Technics room correction). I would recommend running these both out of the box. I keep the LAPC on but have found that I like the way my speakers (Revel F35) sound either Free or In a Shelf setting vs the Measured on the space tune setting. I think it may level things out a bit too much for my personally listening even after I adjust the tone controls. The phono and HDMI arc inputs are great to have along with two additional RCA inputs for legacy gear such as a CD player, Tape Deck, mini disc, etc. Technics really packed just about all one could want for the inputs and outputs minus a dedicated sub connection instead of the pre-out only option for connecting a subwoofer. If Technics would have packed in a little more power say 70-100 watts vs 30-60 depending on yours speakers impedance, a dedicated sub input that also works with their room correction, and maybe a VU meter (real one or digital one) this would be grand slam integrated amplifier. It's not perfect, but Its really not far off either. If you're looking for a beautiful clean sounding compact integrated for a small to mid size room. That does it all in the digital realm, has HDMI ARC, and a handful of analog connections you deserve to give the Technics a demo !

So i'll get right to the nuts and bolts of this review. I'm not going to set here and get into ohms watts and all the specs because you are smart people and i think if you are looking at this review you can read. So first off the packaging was great. The FedEx delivery driver literally rolled the box into my door and it flipped end over end 2 times and all i could think was well it's probably broken but it was boxed up great and out of the box no issues. So upon hooking up it can be a little daunting because the is a small about 3 inch by 2 inch screen with all your info. I hooked up my polk audio speakers, downloaded the recommended app to set up the wifi to set it up in my home network and i had this bad boy up and running in less than 5 minutes. This might have been the simplest electronic to set up i have ever touched. I then ran a optical digital cable from my computers sound blaster AE-5 plus to the optical input on the Amplifier and with the remote selected apt 1 and it says available and bam dome. Now i am enjoying music and watching videos and using the new Amplifier as my sound source and wow the sound is crisp and clear with great base. I can either cast the music from my phone to play music or select Amazon music on my phone and select the same on the amplifier and controlling the volume and songs from my phone and you can pause and play from the included remote control. I will be hooking my T.V to the amplifier in the near future with the HDMI input on the amplifier so i can use it for my T.V sound also. You can select several other music sources that are pre installed on the amplifier like spotify,Apple airPlay, Chromecast, FM radio,DMP and on and on. This is a masterpiece of electronics and for the price you can not go wrong. I could not be happier with this Amplifier.

The Technics SU-GX70 amplifier, and the sonic adventure it provided was nothing short of exceptional. The Technics SU-GX70 is a modern marvel of audio technology. It's not just about what's inside; it also looks great (I have the unit with a silver finish). This amplifier is powerful, capable of making your speakers produce rich, clear sound. It can connect to a variety of devices, old and new, making it a versatile addition to your audio setup. Notably, the inclusion of a turntable connection enhances its appeal to vinyl enthusiasts. In an era where music and streaming services are integral to our lives, the SU-GX70 proves itself by integrating seamlessly with the digital age. It effortlessly connects to popular music streaming services, opening up a vast library of music to explore. However, it's important to mention that the network setup process, particularly through the Google Home app, presented a slight challenge. As an experienced user, I eventually managed to configure it successfully, but beginners may find this aspect slightly annoying. The Technics SU-GX70 is a fantastic addition to any audio setup. It excels at delivering incredible sound, combined with a modern design and features. While there are a few minor challenges, especially in the internet setup, the SU-GX70 truly shines where it counts – in creating a superb listening experience.

Converting an audiophile to the world of streaming

I've been a supporter of Technics products since their early days. My first turntable was a Technics belt drive; about a dozen years ago I upgraded to one of their world renowned SL-1200 turntables which has served me flawlessly; last year I became the proud owner of a 1210 Grand Class turntable; which makes a perfect companion to this Grand Class Network Receiver. With a collection of vinyl records numbering in the thousands, I suppose one would slap the "audiophile" moniker on me. I do hunt out the "best" copies of my favorite recordings, and of course, want to play them on equipment that will deliver the best performance. All the specs for this device are laid out quite clearly, so I will not be telling you that it has X number of inputs/outputs or detailing the power specifications. What matters to me is the "experience." The product came nicely packaged, the first thing I appreciated is it had a full paper manual, not the nonsense or pictograms that come with most electronic devices today. While it was comprehensive, it contained a notation that a "full" manual could be downloaded. I did follow the download, the full manual amounted to 129 pages. As I said, I'm a vinyl addict and probably what could be called a purist. What that means is my vinyl system is completely separate and autonomous from my other devices. It's not connected to any 5 channel receiver, soundbar, or any device that could interfere with the quality of the sound. That said, the first thing that struck me in reading the manual was that there was a pure amplification setting that segregated the amplifier from any extraneous inputs such as HDMI, Bluetooth that could possibly degrade the amplification process. That said, the GX70 is going to open a new world for me. I subscribe and follow various audio websites and blogs. I read reviews of new vinyl recordings, and I see enthusiasts that detail their reviews with spectograms, and discuss comparisons of the vinyl with 192 khz 24 bit audio downloads. To be specific, Steely Dan has had recent remasterings of their recordings, Aja being by far the most popular. Now I have the ability to dowload these recordings via Qobuz, perform my own comparisons, and be able to join in the conversations. I've connected the GX70 via wired ethernet and Wifi, connected an SACD player, downloaded the Technics Audio app, connected it to my Sirius/XM app, and have used it to access the hundreds if not thousands of titles in my personal catalog. I'll now start my new adventure into the world of streaming audio. If there's any disappointment with the GX70, I do see streaming players that will display an image of the item being played, the simple monochrome display is not capable of that; however, maybe that would take away from the simple elegance of the unit. I will say however, that the Technics app, while functional, has a kind of dull appearance - it really could use a touch from the design folks. On a performance note, I just wanted to say that for amplification purposes, the GX70 is replacing my vintage McIntosh power amp. Do I feel that I've taken a downgrade in audio performance? Absolutely not - but I do miss those big VU meters pulsing away!

This amplifier rocks. I’ve tested the more expensive Technics SU G700 MK2 and can confidently say that in a smaller to medium size room there is no discernable difference in audio quality. I am using this amplifier to drive a pair of Kef LS50 Meta speaker along with a Kef KC62 subwoofer. In direct comparison with the Arcam SA20, the technics sounds much less fatiguing in the high end frequency range, offers more low end extension and definition and has a velvet-like midrange. All in all, it is an amplfier that I can listen to for hours on end without needing a break. I even prefer this amplifier to the Marantz Model 30. I highly reccomend auditioning this amplifer!

No problem connecting to internet and hooking up floor speakers. Hooking up subwoofer via the pre out connection required a settings adjustment, but that wasn't difficult, either. What I can't figure out is what to do with my center speaker. Is the unit unable to accommodate anything other than two speakers and a subwoofer?

The Technics SU-GX70 is an incredible machine. It is loaded with up-to-the-minute technology and has just about every feature known to mankind. The only thing I couldn't find was a kitchen sink! So to speak. It has optical, coaxial, HDMI, USB-A, and USB-B digital inputs. It has one line-level analog RCA input, and a Moving Magnet-compatible phono (turntable) input. It has Bluetooth, WiFi, and Ethernet connections. it has high-quality banana-plug-compatible speaker terminals. And a stereo pair of preamp outputs that can be turned off, turned on but with the speaker outputs disabled (for use with an external amplifier), or turned on with the speakers active (for running a subwoofer). And there is also a built-in FM tuner. So it's like an old-school receiver with every digital thing added on. Awesome. Setup was easy, but it appears you do need an Android or Apple smartphone to do the initial connection to your WiFi network. That requires installing Google Home on your device, but you can delete it after setup is done. There is also a Technics app for your phone that has a pretty plain user interface but is easy to figure out. There is also a full-featured remote control. And a very legible (if a little small) front panel display. You can access every function of the unit from the Technics app, the remote control, or the front panel controls. Oh, and the front panel screen is also a touch screen to control music playback, etc. Speaking of playback, it can play pretty much any digital format there is, including full unfolding of MQA files. If you use Tidal for streaming, this is a fantastic feature since many Tidal streams are MQA-encoded. Since Tidal is built-in, you can navigate their library using the remote, front panel controls, or most easily, the Technics app. I tried it all those ways and it always was quick to respond and never glitched a single time. The only thing missing is it is not Roon Ready. However, it works perfectly fine with Roon using either one of the USB connections to your computer or over your network using Chromecast. I have read that native Roon support is coming in a future firmware which I hope happens but it works fine for me right now. I would like to be able to disconnect it from a computer. Using Chromecast limits the resolution. I have my unit connected to a pair of KEF Q30 stand-mount speakers and a 10" Sonance subwoofer. The sound quality of this amplifier is stellar. Simply top-notch. Bass is full and punchy, mids are silky smooth, and the highs are crystal clear and crisp but not sizzly or harsh. There are some technologies built in that help - I don't pretend to know how they work, but they really do the job they claim to do. While the amp section is only rated at 40 watts per channel (or maybe 30? Both specs are listed), my setup would play as loud as I could stand it without breaking a sweat. Certainly louder than with my "160 watt per channel" AV receiver. So whatever Technics is doing, they are doing it right. It takes a little while to appreciate everything this unit is capable of. It looks pretty plain, but is well built with a thick metal faceplate and solid knobs and buttons. It lets you listen to every music source you can think of and sounds great doing it. It's not often that I am delighted by a product, but the more I use this amplifier them more it amazes me. The feature set and performance of the Technics SU-GX70 makes it easy to recommend and is something that would be hard to outgrow.

Many years ago, I was a real audiophile. I had some of the best audio components available at the time. I had a stack with a receiver, amp, preamp, equalizer, turntable, and dual cassette deck. (CDs and Blu-Ray weren’t in existence back then.) I wasn’t prepared for what the Amplifier has become, when I got this Technics SU-GX70 Network Audio Amplifier. The amplifier is a whole different animal now. Let’s start with how this system is laid out. The front of the unit has a power standby/on button, power indicator, 6.35mm headphone jack, USB-A terminal for AV, remote control signal sensor, volume knob, LED display, LED playback buttons, and an input selector knob. On the back, it has Analog audio Input Terminals for your turntable, turntable grounding connection, 2 pairs of analog audio input terminals, 2 Wi-Fi antennas, an FM Radio antenna connection (antenna included), HDMI connector for HDMI with ARC function, a coax connection to connect a digital audio output device such as a Digital/Analog Converter, 2 optical digital input connections, a USB-B terminal to connect your PC, Cat5 Lan connection, screw type speaker cable terminals, Pre Out analog output terminals, and AC connection. The system includes a full function remote control giving you lots of control over the amp. Besides the remote, you will also want to setup your smartphone with the Audio Control Center app from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. This is where a lot of the power of the system can be configured. Once configured, you can use the remote for pretty much everything. Once you connect your equipment, you will want to setup your Wi-Fi or Cat5 Lan connection. You will then want to connect your device with the Google Home app if you want to use the built-in Chromecast. You can also pair your Bluetooth devices to it. Now you have lots of built in apps that you can configure. The system comes with built in Chromecast and the following apps: - Qobuz (a French digital music store and streaming service) - Amaszon usic - Deezer (a French music rental service) - Tidal (a music streaming service offering over 100 million high fidelity songs) - Spotify - Podcasts - Internet Radio - DMP (Digital Media Player to stream from your own media server) In addition, you can play music from your turntable, FM radio, analog attached devices, digital attached devices, ARC attached devices, Bluetooth attached devices, USB attached devices, LAN attached devices, and Coax attached devices. Your choices are so wide and varied that you can use just about anything as a source. I have the amp connected to a nice pair of speakers and subwoofer along with my TV The sound is stellar and you have so many options to choose from. This is far more than I expected, and I’m loving digging into things and configuring more options. If you are a fan of multimedia, this amp is made for you. You won’t be disappointed.

The Technics Grand Class Network Integrated Audio Amplifier SU-GX70 is a network music streamer’s Hi-Fi dream. Additionally it has all classic and modern input connections available from Phono stage for your vinyl record player to optical and coax audio inputs and most notably HDMI-ARC for your modern TV hook up. There are 21 different Input sources selectable through the rotary knob or the smart phone app. That includes at least a dozen physical audio inputs and the rest completing the list include FM radio, Internet Radio and a number of popular streaming apps like Amazon Music, Spotify, Tidal, Deezar, Qobuz as well as podcasts. Bluetooth, Chromecast and Apple AirPlay/2 are also supported as well as USB PC input supporting many popular CODECS such as MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC AIFF just to name a few. There is practically no audio source or format you can challenge this amp with that it will not play. The build quality is on par with any high end AV equipment and the advanced digital technology was inspired by Technics professional reference audio equipment but made available to consumers at a more affordable price point. The initial setup is pretty straight forward, recommended to be done thru the Technics Audio Center smartphone app, but most of it can also be done thru the built-in display like connecting to your WiFi network and Bluetooth, etc. Once you’re up and running the App is quite comprehensive allowing tons of adjustments such as subsonic filters and setting favorites, etc. The software seems a bit complicated, inconsistent and not very user friendly. The display is also rather small and has some limitations. So you’ll have to use the remote control for some functions, the display for others and the app for fine tuning all the settings. What matters most is sound quality and that’s where this Technics SU-GX70 shines. The clarity, fullness and crispiness of the sound at all levels is superb. It may not be the most powerful amplifier for larger rooms, but despite its relatively low powered amplifier, it packs a punch. I paired it with a set of Martin Logan Motion F20 full tower speakers that generally demand more power but at 4 Ohms, the Technics amp drives them just fine at 80 Watts at reasonable listening levels that are not meant to disturb your neighbors. The HDMI ARC connection works great with my Samsung TV and Technics’ proprietary digital circuitry separates/blocks the video signals thus not allowing any distortions to the pure sound experience. I have to admit, I will still use my Yamaha AV network receiver when watching movies where surround sound provides a more realistic engaging experience but for all other audio listening needs, the Technics will get priority. It’s great that popular music streaming apps are built-in, so I won’t have to use my phone and worry about Bluetooth connection distance while I’m roaming around the house. All in all, this is a high-end audio amplifier for audiophiles with some disposable income, superb sound quality, excellent input and streaming options, but there is always room for software improvement, a bigger display and perhaps a customizable list of inputs, so you don’t have to turn the knob through all 21 of them when not using the remote or the App.

The Technics Grand Class Integrated Audio Amplifier is a high-end stereo amplifier geared for today's streaming services as well as being able to be the heart of traditional audio system. The front has a power switch, headphone jack, a USB type A port, a volume knob, an input selector knob and a display with touch controls. In the rear there are connections for a turntable (with ground), 2 RCA inputs, an HDMI port with ARC, a digital coax connection, 2 Toslink connections, a USB type B, Wi-Fi antennas, a wired network port, FM antenna connector, speaker connections and a pre-out. I hooked this receiver to my TV using the HDMI ARC connection/cable. With the ARC function, the TV powers the amplifier on and off, controls the volume etc. The TV sounds great through this amplifier. Streaming music through the apps on my smart TV sounded great and provides controls, song data and images on the TV screen. I was surprised that connecting with an HDMI cable provided no imagery back to the TV screen. Streaming through Bluetooth sounds just as great both directly connected or through the app. I added a subwoofer using the pre-out connection. The amplifier has great channel separation and a wide quiet soundstage. At times there is a large venue, reverb-ish quality. I have heard/noticed details in music that I have never noticed before. Interestingly, I hear lots of detail at a volume low enough to have a conversation that usually requires significantly louder volume to hear. This thing really sounds phenomenal! While I am thrilled at the sound quality this amp provides there are a couple of challenges for me. I have only had a weekend to explore the amp and perhaps I will discover workarounds. First, I have a network drive that has my entire library in WMA-Lossless format. WMA in any format is not listed as compatible with this unit. I have also recoded the library to MP3 at 320 kbps so that the library will fit on my phone and tablet. The MP3 sounds great, and I have yet to see what happens when I try to play WMA. Second is the HDMI. I haven't found any video output to the TV from the amp. My assumption is that using an HDMI there would be some sort of video signal. My TV's only have one HDMI ARC terminal so I must give up the Dolby Atmos connection to the TV for stereo. While the stereo is amazing, I need my spatial effects. I plan to dig out a Toslink cable which should give me the same quality stereo sound and allow me to keep my TV connected to Atmos with the HDMI ARC. Lastly, the unit doesn't claim support for some of the popular streaming services. This unit is the best sounding stereo amp I have ever used. While I have mentioned a couple of things that require workarounds, I really love the sound that this generates. I have only had a couple of days to play with this and look forward to seeing what else it can do.

Great Audio Amplifier For A Home System

With the Technics SU-GX70 Integrated Audio Amplifier, I knew I would be stepping up in class for my amplifier. I just wasn’t sure just how much. From the first sound, I realized this was a completely different experience. Setting up the SU-GX70 is fairly straight forward. It took a matter of minutes to hook up to my KEF speakers. Then I just had to attach my accessories. The SU-GX70 has a standard input for a turntable as well as an HDMI input. You can also connect the system to an Ethernet connection, an optical input, or even a USB-B if you want to connect to a computer. The only thing is none of the necessary cables are included other than power and FM indoor antenna. In any case, you should be up and running in about 5-10 minutes. When you look for a space to place it, it will fit in a rack mount set up as it is the size of a standard amplifier. There is an included remote control for the amplifier. I was a bit surprised how big it was. You should d not lose it as it is bigger than most television remotes even though it has less functions. There is also an app that you can download for use with the system. It may not do the most, but it will allow you to play music from your smartphone which is still nice. The ease of set up or remote size is not why you get an amplifier, especially one like this. The real measure is in the sound. I have a wide range of musical likes, and I tried this system with all of them. Music through here is just beautifully crisp. Pop and rock and very clear. The percussion punches and the guitars and very clean. The vocals sound great. When listening to classical music, the sound is very clear. You can hear each section distinctly. I really didn’t feel any distortion ever. If watching movies, dialogue is easy to understand and action sequences have plenty of power. I really enjoy this system. If you want, there is a ¼ inch headphone jack located on the front panel. As with speakers you attach to the system though, you probably want a quality set of headphones to attach to this though. You just won’t feel the quality with a twenty-dollar set of headphones. But with a set of good headphones, you can really fall into the sound. There are some things to be aware of though. This is only a 2.1 channel amplifier. If you are looking for this to power a full-blown entertainment system with speaker in front and behind you, it is not going to do that. This is more suited to be set up with a television or other smaller system. But it will blow you away in this set up. In the end, I love the Technics SU-GX70 Audio Amplifier. The sound quality is rich regardless of whatever style of music or movie you are listening to. It is easy to hook up. The controls are easy to use even if the remote is just average. Setting up is easy and you will enjoy this amplifier. I highly recommend it to people wanting a quality audio amplifier.
