Good movie. Reminds one of "Inception". Although I had to watch it again to get a good feel on the movie.

It's decently entertaining, but it could've been much better. If you're not into sci-fi I'd give this a hard pass. If youre into sci-fi its worth renting but honestly, this isnt really a movie that's worth owning. I got this for around $2 when it was on sale on, after using a free bestbuy $5 reward certificate. So yeah, about the price of a rental.

    A Visual Palindrome of Time

I'm a huge Christopher Nolan fan. I love how he plays with time. My favorites from him are the Prestige, Memento and Interstellar. I really wanted to see Tenet in the theater and during this time of COVID-19, I could not --nor would I risk that. With that said, I feel like this film would have benefited from the big screen instead of my 32 inch television. It's a cool film. This film feels the most mainstream (aside from Dunkirk and the Batman Dark Knight Triliogy), yet at the same time it may be the most confusing. I was confused about why everything turned into an action scene --which I won't reveal, but the action feels very 90s to me. I don't mind that though, it's still a fun film. Still, much of the reasons for blowing stuff up and going commando is well explained, but they do explain all the time bending inverted stuff pretty well. Halfway through the film the plot and action movies like a pendulum of time. It's a really cool visual palindrome of a movie. It's worth a watch. I wish there was a bit more to think about though like I have in other Christopher Nolan films, but this is still some cool stuff. This version comes with the Dvd, Blueray and a Digital Copy. I actually will probably use all three formats. I love having physical media, but it's great having digital copies too especially while traveling sharing with distant family. Having two physical copies is cool if I ever need to lend a copy out. It's nice having all three. I've yet to check out any of the special features.

Christopher Nolan movies are event movies and Tenet is no different. The man excels at making big films that are rooted in the real world even when dealing with fantastical elements. He also loves in-camera special effects, which add to the realism of his films. He's managed to maintain a unique perspective in genre films, which can be a difficult task considering action, sci-fi, and superhero films have been covered extensively. This "unique perspective" is not without its flaws, which is the issue with Tenet. The action and effects in the film are excellent, however, the plot is overly complicated at times and I found myself unable to connect with the characters. Even when dealing with lofty ideas in past films, Nolan has always maintained a human touch, ie. Cobb's desire to see his children, or Cooper's will to make good on his promise to Murph, but this film lacked that feeling. As a result, the film suffers from feeling perfunctory and cold. I will need to watch it again as one viewing was a sensory overload at times. I can only imagine how this feeling would've been amplified in a theater. Pick it up if you're willing to contemplate what you've just seen but pass it up if you just want to zone out with senseless violence.

To begin I will quickly mention the Steelbook, it looks very nice, much better in person. Now, the movie itself, if you know anything about Nolan he has an interest in the concept of time, something he's been exploring since the beginning and Tenet is no exception. The set pieces are grand, the score rivals much of Zimmer's work, the cinematography is fantastic, but where the film falls short is the story and characters. Now, that's not to say that they're done terribly, because they're not, however with a film trying to explain the rules of the universe (pseudo quantum physics stuff) while also giving us a globetrotting James Bond spy type plot, and then interject that with 2 leads (Washington and Pattinson) who are shrouded in mystery we have a harder time connecting with...well...a lot; not to mention the mixing which causes much of the dialogue/exposition to be lost, something that subtitles can finally help with. I think if given another script rewrite to work on characters, and if not constrained by the IMAX 2 hours and 30 minute maximum runtime this would have been on par with Nolan's most popular epic "Inception" but it's not, but that's still okay.

Some people have a problem with this movie but if you're open to it as well as willing to watch it a few times it can be one of the best movies of 2020. It makes you think and opens your mind to concepts you may not have seen in any other movie, although on the first watch you may be confused for the first half you start to aw at moments which came back to make sense. Especially watching it multiple times you learn something new each time and understand the movie more. The only complaint I have is the audio which can be overwhelming with the music in the background but it also gives a hand if you have a good audio system to sound like you're in the movie theater. The 4k Steel-book is definitely something to have in my little library of movies but the picture quality was phenomenal on my 4K Tv. Definitely recommend if your willing to keep you brain thinking in wonder and excitement during this movie.

I bought this disc sight unseen because I did not have a chance to see the movie in the theater because of the pandemic. I was not disappointed. The Blu-ray image was very clear and vibrant. And the sound was amazing. I listened on an old 5.1 DD receiver and it sounded like theater quality with excellent separation and depth of field and spatial perception. The deals with time and confusing orders of time and possible world destruction and secret agencies, and to be honest, I understood about half of the plot at the first viewing, but the movie is compelling none the less and 2.5 hour run time moves at a good pace. I watched movie on my 120 inch projector screen so I kind of got a big screen feel while viewing. I can imagine what this movie looked like in theater. The movie looked impressive on my screen. This is a good movie worthy of repeat viewing

Tenet is one of those movies that might frustrate some because of how confusing it is. It is most definitely the most confusing movie I have seen in my entire life, but I love that aspect about it. I watched this movie 4 times in theaters, and I finally was able to comprehend the whole entire movie the 3rd. This is a movie that you can enjoy and kind of guess the story the first watch, but once you are able to comprehend everything you will be, to say the least, mind-blown. This movie combines everything Nolan has ever done with time and physics and puts it into one jam-packed movie. I purchased the 4k steelbook version, and the case impressed me thoroughly. It is clean and solid and has great graphic design. I would highly suggest watching this movie on a big tv and nice sound system for full effect.
