Another Great Chris Nolan Movie

I've watched this movie on cable TV other day ago, and I've got to say Chris Nolan managed to make another great movie. If you're not familiar with Chris Nolan's movies, you should definitely check out the Dark Knight Trilogy. Without spoiling too much about Tenet, you don't get much info about the plot in the beginning aside from the fact that the protagonist himself is going be on some wild mission to save the entire world from a certain future annihilation by going into the past literally. Don't try to think too hard when you watch this movie. I would say the plot is somewhat straight forward, but complex in a way that have more questions than answers you want.

This is Christopher Nolan's answer for the James Bond genre. It has Nolan's signature puzzle elements and strangeness, along with some cool action set pieces, and plenty of intrigue. It demands two viewings, once to just go along for the ride and then a second viewing to try to understand the puzzling elements. This is a memorable movie that isn't easy to fully grasp but I don't think you need to fully grasp every puzzle element for it to be entertaining. So if you enjoy movies that challenge you a bit, along with spy thriller stuff, this is a must see movie.

Nolan delivers yet another mind-bending experience.
From the opening sequence to the end credits, I found TENET to be completely gripping. If you want a trippy sci-fi time-warping-esque film, you get it. If you want a solid spy thriller, you get it. Nolan gives a complete homage to old school Bond from the suave protagonist (called the Protagonist) to the locales, wardrobes and classy vibe. Of course he cannot just make a simple spy movie, so he subverts it with his larger than life ideas and insane time-bending concepts. Admittedly, it is hard to follow particularly when its true mechanics begin to unravel, but it's fun to figure out and admire the scope and stakes of it all.

Nolan continues to strive for a deeper definition of meaning with this truly impactful production. This is a piece which demands multiple, if not regular viewings from its fans, not solely because of the many intricate levels of storytelling on display, but because it showcases a master of his craft at work, expecting more from himself than possibly any other individual does. A high bar when considering his previous visual endeavors.
Nolan has ascended to a level of filmmaking few can expect to achieve in a lifetime and we are lucky enough to be in a time where we can expect more projects in the years which follow. This man is an artist.

This movie is incredible. And I was lucky enough to see it in theaters before the world pooped itself. Admittedly I have utmost respect and love for all things Christopher Nolan so call me biased if you want. But this movie is just as brilliant as his other thrillers and ranks in the upper echelon of his genius. Not quite as refined as inception but still trippy and breathtaking none the less. And the way this movie was filmed will go down in history like no other movie will. John David Washington will continue to be a breakout star and this movie actually made me like Kenneth Branagh and Robert Pattinson. That’s a feat in of itself.

I purposely stayed away from reviews so I can see this with the open mind I thought it served. However, as I have heard this was "Inception" with time.
It starts off with stuff that makes you want to rewind to catch. The dialogue is very low so you have to watch it with headphones or the volume turned up. Not only is the dialogue low but it is very fast paced and cryptic. Some of the things they are saying especially John David Washington's character, are head scratchers making you wonder why he would ask that question or respond that way. Unlike Inception where they had even pacing and moments to let things sink in for the explanation of the missions and to appreciate the story as well as acting, this is shotgun setup for 35+ minutes. It's like Christopher Nolan said here is the script, now I want you to summarize all your lines and deliver them like a know-it-all. If I didn't have the subtitles on I would have had no clue of nothin. Not to mention some of the accents along with the low dialogue. They want to tell you this story about trying to stop WW3 by stopping a guy with plutonium in a world where things and people can be inverted, meaning somethings and people move backwards in time. However, as I stated it is done in such a head scratching way. With a concept like that people need a better effort to comprehend such material. It is one of the most annoying things in the world to have a movie with a possibly cool concept not be enjoyed as it can be because of convolution. John David Washington's character is a big part of the problem too. It makes more sense for a character entering a complex world as inverted entropy to not have that know it all attitude. He gets one small explanation at any given time and he seems to have it all figured out to complete the next task. The explanations for the characters help the audience too. As the movie progressed it did get better and had a good resolution regardless of the whole thing being one big paradox. This was definitely a miss on Christopher Nolan. After watching this my head felt like it does after me coming out of one of my time travel, inter-dimensional dreams. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad one since there was more confusion then cerebral intrigue. I wanted this to be so good.

Much has been written about this film, some good, some bad, and some by very confused viewers, lol. If you're a fan of director Christopher Nolan, then you'll want to see this. If you're new to his work, this is as good a place as any to start. The special effects, as you'd expect, are stunning. Some complain about the audio in some scenes (even in the theater), but if you have trouble, Hey! There's Subtitles! I'd advise not getting up often, pausing, or letting anything get in the way of viewing this uninterrupted. There shouldn't be any confusion when you get to the end. If so: re-watch it.

Tenet is another film brought to life through practical stunts and a story that requires you to perform mental gymnastics with the characters. Despite this, the film can be enjoyed with what’s presented on the surface, as well as with deeper suggestions the viewers can choose to tie together. The film is extremely impressive from a technical standpoint, as the stunts were done in real time, and effects are just as polished. The Best Buy packaged movie is up to quality standards physically, and for those who loved this movie or Nolan’s other work should plan on picking up this version or the Steelbook edition.

This is an incredible movie that needs to be seen to be believed. I am a big fan of all of Christopher Nolan’s films so could not wait to see this especially because I did not get to see it in theaters. If you are a fan of his other films than you should enjoy this however one thing I will mention is do not expect to understand everything about the story the first time you watch it. Without giving away too much, there are a lot of ideas related to science and physics that it will take repeat viewings to become more clear. Great performances, action scenes and special effects though. Worth seeing!

I found TENET to be a very controversial movie. The explanation of the mechanics to what we are watching on screen is absolutely mind blowing. But, don't get me wrong, I loved the movie. It is great to see a person of color playing the secret agent. But the screenplay is so great any nationally would of had no problem acting in this Epic Motion Picture. I am giving this DVD a 5 Star Rating, I recommend it to any one who loves James Bond, Shaft, Die Hard or any Top rated Action Thriller. There is so much to say about this movie, but you have to see it to believe what your eyes a witnessing.

Big fan of Christopher Nolan and I was really looking forward to watching the movie on Blu-ray, given it was not an easy option to see it in the movie theater this past fall. My first reaction after watching it was, "What did I just watch? What exactly was going on?" It's complicated and confusing, but I think the subject matter makes it so, and there's more to understand upon repeated viewing(s). Nolan is not spoon-feeding the story to the viewer. Beautifully shot and a very interesting premise. Worth watching and having a copy because you'll need to watch it a few times for sure.

If you enjoy spy thrillers, this is for you! I am a huge fan of Nolan's work, and his original ideas that are transformed into blockbuster hits that make the viewer think hard about what they watched. This is no exception! This movie for me ranks up high with Inception and Interstellar on the Nolan list!
Only gripe, Nolan struggles with a good balance of sound editing so, as is the case in many of his films, the score regularly overwhelms the dialogue. In this case especially, the dialogue is important. So there is a bit of an issue there. Otherwise, amazing film!

Pet peeve with the dumb gun scene

With time travel movies, I guess we should expect to be a little confused. But this was a little too much. I wonder if maybe it's just me. That's I'm dumb. They must have put the time into it, and I just don't get it. But then I remember [SPOILER ALERT] the scene where someone is really, really threatening to blow off someone's head with a semi-auto pistol and THEN, they later rack the slide for emphasis. Not too much thought went into that scene. The movie is closer to 3 1/2 stars but I round up to 4 because it is entertaining.

Tenet is the type of movie I love. It is classic Christopher Nolan. He engages the audiences by pushing them to think instead of just watch. This is a movie you will have to watch at least 3 times to fully understand.
From a technical standpoint, this is a fantastic 4K disc that has some reference quality material. No, it doesn't have an atmos soundtrack (Nolan sticks to basic 5.1 / 7.1 channel mixes), but the mix included is an absolute beauty. If you want something to play loud and feel the bass....this is your ticket.

Christopher Nolan has an...interesting view of time, whether it's INTERSTELLAR, INCEPTION, or DUNKIRK. And now, with TENET, he's outdone himself, in my opinion.
I should warn you; Nolan doesn't really explain the things you'll see in this movie down to the bare bones. Instead, he leaves it to you to figure it out for yourself.
The DARK KNIGHT trilogy aside, I know Nolan doesn't do sequels to his own work, but if he ever chooses to make a sequel to this movie, with more temporal trickery spy-jinks, I'm there.

After watching this film twice and letting it really sit (and fully understanding the second time what’s happening) I will say it’s a film you’d need to see twice to truly get a proper feel for what you think of it. The story is super complex but it’s all so well done and the action is pure Christopher Nolan awesomeness. Looks and sounds great, unfortunately Nolan isn’t a big fan of Atmos so there is no track to be found. That said, the audio is still fantastic and the picture looks fantastic.

I was hoping to see this film at the IMAX this year but then 2020 went Full Pandemic Mode and the rest is history. Thankfully I got to enjoy this film at home in all its 4K Ultra HD glory. It’s what most people should come to expect from Nolan at this point- a confusing narrative revolving around time and with a great musical score. This film is like the love child of Inception and Interstellar but not as great as those two films. Still, it’s enjoyable enough and will leave you with a few questions. It definitely requires more than one viewing.

This is a great steelbook for any fan of the film Tenet fan or a Christopher Nolan fanatic. The picture quality is good but the movie does suffer from the issues that the theater release did where the music is louder than the dialogue at times ( An easy fix is to turn on the subtitles if it bothers you too much), but it doesn’t take away from this breathtaking and mind bending movie!

Words cannot describe how great this disc looks. The IMAX ratio scenes are literally the best looking the UHD format has to offer.
The audio is extremely loud too. Despite lacking an Atmos track the DTS soundtrack on this disc is an absolute beast. The loud bass literally shakes the entire whole house. You can literally feel it pounding in your chest. It's that powerful. You may have to crank it down a notch or too if you can't handle it.
If there is a disc to reference when it comes to UHD it's this one.
