Retro open-world survival for up to 8 players

Classic gameplay elements and old-school/retro graphical charm, fun for the whole family either split-screen couch-co-op or online up to 8 players. Retro platform gaming where you dig, mine, build, level up, acquire items, survive, and fight monsters in a reasonably large, procedurally generated open world. Had fun playing this years ago on Steam and was happy to see it come to PS4.
Great value for the breadth, depth, and long-term gameplay value.

Fun game to play on a relaxing off day. Tarraria is similar to minecraft yet play so different. Being able to create my little world was fun.

This is a really fun game, but you need to be a fan of this genre, or accepting of difficulty if you are to buy this game. In the early stages this game isn't too difficult, but the farther you go, it can get very difficult. At least for me anyway. It has old school style 2D graphics, and basically you use tools and resources to build your home and fend off monsters/enemies. It can be a lot of fun, and immersive, but also time-consuming.

Had a friend recommend this to me, it was interesting to play. Highly enjoyed being a mage (can go with archery or sword fighter), exploring was fun, and fighting bosses is challenging. Highly recommend that you dig straight down though; making a turning tunnel will make things difficult.

Great game. Lots of things to do. More fun than Minecraft. My kids love it ! You can waste hours and hours on exploring and crafting. I like that it's a side scroller and NOT first person. Local co-op with the kids have been very enjoyable.

Being a minecraft lover I picked this up wanting something similar yet different. This fit the bill. Overall many hours of fun! The "side platformer" feel is hard to get use at first, but works well once you get use to it.

I bought this game because I had played Terraria on PC. While not quite as fun, the 2 player aspect is great. You can get lost for hours playing this. It's very fun and I would recommend it.

This game has provided me and my son many hours of enjoyment since it is at least a two player game, the only downside in my opinion is that it's always split screen. This games allows you to create other elements when they have been combined. As you play you find new character to help you create your world.

No depth sacrificed here.

Though on the surface it looks like just another “me too” indie game seeking to ride the coattails of Minecraft’s success, Terraria expands on the familiar sandbox gameplay with a greater emphasis on combat and adventure that proves very satisfying. Fresh elements – like an absurdly expansive crafting system, a broad scope of monsters to battle, and a slick retro 2D presentation – make it a stand out among the pack. There's no depth sacrificed here.

Online or Local Play - This Game's a BLAST!

My nephews got this for Christmas on their PS3 and asked me to come play. Up until then, I'd seen this game on the shelves, but had no interest in it (I blame the logo - I don't know what it was about it that seemed lackluster).
AFTER playing it with them, I was immediately checking where I could get it, which was difficult following Christmas. I was able to secure this copy and have been playing with them online or at their house several times a week since then.
A note about online play - PS4 requires use of Playstation Plus, which I had no interest in. I signed up for a 2-week trial while I searched for the PS3 version of the game because PS3 doesn't require any paid service for online play. Either way, though, I was able to play with my nephews as the game supports cross-platform play - you can have a mix of PS4 and PS3 players all on the same online game.
When playing by myself, I prefer the PS4 version. When playing with others, I just upload my character and my map to the cloud (a Terraria feature), then download them onto the PS3 (mine for online or others' for local play). I wrap up our games by uploading my character and map back to the cloud so that I can get that progress downloaded onto my PS4.
This game is awesome and everything about it makes for really fun multiplayer, whether local (my preference) or online. There's tons to explore and do, along with loads of different tools, tactics, and adventures. I highly, highly recommend this game.

Same elements as Minecraft as of building, crafting and exploring but in 2d so it adds a different look and feel to it.

Cool Game For It's Type

This is an action-adventure sandbox video game that was originally released for Microsoft Windows in 2011. As this is a Minecraft "type" game you are pretty much unrestricted on what you can do. Most likely if you are purchasing this game you already know what it is or have played it before, but if this is your first time playing, and you like these types of games, you won't be disappointed.
