Epic gets used too frequently but that's exactly what this record is. It is not a collection of songs, but a sensory experience.

THIS ALBUM IS GREAT BECAUSE I LOVE DREAM THEATER AND THE ALBUM'S SOUNDS INCREDIBLE. I WAS NOT HESITENT ON BUYING IT. IF YOU LIKE ALTERNATIVE MUSIC, I RECOMMEND IT TO DREAM THEATER FANS OR EVERYONE. HARD ROCKING AWESOME INSTRUMENT PLAYING.LYRICS ARE GREAT TOO.

Dream Theater has out on another gem. It was hard to listen to at first, but the more I listened, the more it made sense.

Great new cd but be patient, it takes a couple of listenings before understanding the themes and story. Once it clicks you start to notice the great symphony arrangements, and level of musicianship of one of the best metal-prog bands in the world.

Dream Theater never disappoint. This release is a bit different from their past albums. It takes a few listens to sink in but once it does, the melodies will get stuck in your head.

This record is an ambitious, 2 hour-long concept piece. Every DT quality is turned up. It is extremely ambitious, virtuosic, cheesy, melodic, and long. It won't gain them any new fans, but long time fans like me will enjoy it immensely.

fantastic 2 cd sett from dream theater. A masterpiece, every song is good. 34 tracks in all. One continuous story line. Over 2 hours of music. great songs, vocals, killer shred guitar and keyboards. Money well spent. A plus rating......

Nothing earth shattering here, but it's dream theater so buy it. It's a good listen, a well spent 2 hours.

Dream Theater are truly an amazing band of gifted musicians and The Astonishing holds true to their talents.. The work and dedication clearly comes through as the listener is taken on a journey of spellbinding music and creativity.

I have been a fan since even before James joined the band and have heard everything from them. While this isn't the same exact style and structure of other albums, it really is beautiful music. I look forward to hearing it live.

The Astonishing is epic. Over 2 hours of music on two CDs. A must have for every prog rock or DT fan.

Dream Theatre continues to occupy a musical plateau all by themselves. Musically this may be the most aptly titled CD ever. The fact that they can go out and perform 100% of this live puts them in a class all by themselves.

these guys are getting old but they know how to experiment with new sounds love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This album is really good if you are a hardcore DT fan but is a little bit on the cheesy side.

Dream Theatre has done it again, but better. The Astonishing is an epic! Incredible writing and play. This band just keeps evolving with instrumental evolution, thought-provoking lyrics and utterly talented musicians.

This is a very wide reaching album. Lots of different styles and tempos. It took me 2 listens to really start to truly appreciate the scope and depth of this album.

It's Dream Theater so, yeah it's good, but now an album you'd pick up to listen to everyday.

There is some good stuff on this but they should of whittled it down to a single disc. I dunno, maybe it will grow on me, but then again 2 hours and 20 minutes is long time to sit down and digest this. It has all the elements you would expect but in my book does not live up to epic lps like 6doit or Scenes from a Memory...
