Sit back and enjoy this prog metal story from on of the most talented bands ever

Not as astonishing as scenes from a memory, but better than their previous two albums. Live getting back to the concept albums and kick it up a notch with this opera style double disc album.

Very "dreamtheater'ish with a touch of spocksbeard and pink Floyd. Should be the new theme for game of thrones, very euro metal themed.Epic storyline and great musicianship as always.

I am impressed with this CD, and must if you are Dream Theatre fan!

Excellent album. I feel they pull influence from all their previous albums in this rock theater experience. I hope to be able to see this live. These guys are true musicians.

I know it's just me. But I prefer the more heavy sound. I was hoping for some of that on this expansive release. This is, to me, strictly progressive sounding. I understand that is to be expected. So, this is just my opinion and review. True Dream Theater fans will probably LOVE it.

Dream Theather has gone way over and above on this epic album!

Audio quality is phenomenal as always. Couple good tracks, but I've been saying this for the pas few discs, that this will be my last. Every time though I end up buying the next just to be disappointed. Too many wailing vocals and not enough rock! Train of thought was my favorite.

Although the previos álbum were great, DT was stuck doing the same type of record, With this one the streak was broken and we have a very original DT sounding récord.

Another epic outing by Dream Theater. Magical 2 disc set.

There are alot of songs on this two disc set. Jordan Rudess and John Petrucci Composed alot of the material for this album. Great buy for Progressive Music Lovers!!

Fantastic album! With a great story and about 2 hours of brlliant music you can sit back and ejoy while relaxing and fantasizing about a different place and time.

Longtime fan and this new album doesn't disappoint.

Love this group and glad that there are still decent bands out there making music and not just noise. Will follow this band as long as they keep performing.

As a Dream Theater fan, I had higher expectations.

I am a big dream theater fan, but even among fans, there are variations as to what we like sound wise from them, and the band's diversity is one of their many strengths. This album to me has too much concept behind it, something that has worked great in other records, here, not as well. It seems the concept has held back the music, and the music seems a bit reserved. there are a couple of tracks (across 2 cd's) that are really nice, energetic, and big rock sound, but most of it while very well played, doesn't have the "drive" I prefer. It is well recorded, playing is as always, excellent, so nothing is really wrong, I was just hoping for a bit more ompf overall, maybe it will grow on me after a few more listens.

I wasn't sure about this one with a new lead singer, but this is a very good double CD, if you liked the old Dream Theater you will really like this one

A great CD from prog rockers. initially I was hesitant to purchase. not a fan of the "rock operas", but the music is outstanding. highly recommend

This double-CD recording (which is, in a way, prog-metal's answer to The Who's "Quadrophenia" or Pink Floyd's "The Wall") is brimming with memorable melodies, outstanding musicianship and a comprehensive storyline. As a long-time fan of Dream Theater (and prog-rock in general), it's fitting that Petrucci and company have arrived at this milestone at this time - after 20+ years of consistent excellence. They have done "concept" albums in the past, but not to this extent (like a "rock opera"). The music is wonderful and runs very thematically throughout, like a "rock symphony" of sorts. Also, this is unlike their previous records in several ways. There are slower, even ballad-like, numbers on this record as well as many songs that are shorter in duration than the usual DT songs. There are no 12 and 15 minutes epics here, which is more in line with the movie-soundtrack vibe of this work. There are still the presence of their trademark heavier songs included, as needed in the context of the story. But this, in a nutshell, this is a work that is set apart from their previous works. I find it to be an excellent, very satisfying record in its entirety. The live show is outstanding as well as I caught them on tour in support of "The Astonishing" recently. Very highly recommended!

I've been a big Dream Theater fan since the Images and Words album and this album is just as amazing as all of their previous albums!
