For New York lovers who love dancing

This wonderful indie movie reflects the struggles of a young New Yorker dealing with a very low self-esteem and hardly any fun in his life...but actually, almost anybody can relate to one or more of his problems. Unreturned calls, feeling alone in a crowded city, working to pay the bills only, looking for a meaning in life. Sure enough dancing alone will not solve all of these problems, but it changes the way he is dealing with them. Marlene Rhein uses amazing settings, thoughtful coversations and great music to tell the story about her brother and herself. True New York feeling.

My husband and I really enjoyed this movie. It is earthy, authentic, refreshingly quirky, and has a lot of heart. It has a sincere message of hope and there are a lot of moving moments. Jamie (portrayed by David Rhein) is one of the most likeable characters we have seen in a long time. His gentle, quiet, sweet nature makes him instantly relatable. The director, Marlene Rhein, is also a very gifted actress as well as director. She plays the part of Jamie’s supportive sister who is fighting with her own troubles with passionate fortitude. We look forward to seeing it again and will be on the look out for more Marlene Rhein movies.

This was a very unique film that I could relate to on so many levels. I know what it's like to be an outsider who wants to connect, but can't. This film also does an excellent job of portraying REAL people who love and express the music in their hearts. I laughed at many moments and thought the director did a good job of using silence to draw feelings. It took a while to get going as far as the dancing goes, that would be my only criticism. This was the kind of film that stays on your mind way after you leave the theater.

-For an indie film, this was a surprisingly well-written story with very believable and likeable characters. It was so refreshing, because it was the kind of film that everyone can relate to. Unlike the other fluff that's out there, this has a very valuable message and uplifting spirit. I'm buying this as a Christmas present for my students who love dancing.-

I saw this movie in a NYC release last winter, it was very uplifting movie. It has a real Indy film feal and was fresh and you could really connect with the people in the film. Jamie the lead character in the film finds himself after falling to the bottom and does so in a final salsa scene that has to be seen and heard to appreciate.

Wonderful movie. Charismatic actors. This film captures real life dilemmas about life and love. I was touched by this movie. The "Big Shot-Caller" delivers great music and fun salsa scenes. Entertaining and charming. I recommend this to everyone.

Found out about this film from my salsa teacher last year and saw it in the theatre. Truly sweet and genuine indie film with an amazing soundtrack. I appreciated the comedy/drama aspect and the dancing was great!

An inspiring, uplifting indie film that will leave you with a smile on your face. Beautifully shot and acted, this is the "little film that could". Can't wait to see more from this director!
