This movie is never quite what you expect - what I thought would be a sweet story about a girl and her books turned out to be a dynamic look into the lives of one family during World War 2. It was surprising, and heartbreaking.

All the actors were superb in their roles in this WWII story especially newcomer Sophie Nelisse. Recommend for family viewing and children today should be reminded of this period in history.

I watched this on tv the other day. I only saw the end of the movie, So when I saw they had it at best buy I had to grab it. Its a good different perspective on how things were in the war.

Though this story takes place during a horrific time in the history of the world, it is able to convey the very warm and tender soul of the human condition.

This is a beautiful story. It a very touching stories that came out of the Holocaust and the perseverance of the characters. Really a classic to watch. Highly recommend it.

I'm a big fan of WW2 era movies. I never got the chance to watch it in theaters so I was thrilled to find it on sale at best buy. I enjoyed it , it was quite beautifully done.

Story was very good but sad. Got it as a Christmas gift. Gave it away once I watched it due to the content. Would not want to watch it again but was worth watching once.

I've been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD and now I have it. This shows a possiblily a close side of Natzi Germany and how it affected everyone in Germany.

I was unable to see this in the theaters. I am so glad I purchased it so that I could watch an educational film and learn about life before I was born. It was very good.

I got it for my granddaughter for Christmas gift. i watched it and thought it would good movie for her to see what people do other than play on the note book.

What a wonderful story. Many sad times in the life of the main character, but there is still something uplifting about the story. The main actress did a fantastic job.

I love history and this movie depicts the atrocities of WW II Germany in a very humanistic means. You can relate to the innocence of young kids through a horrible time.

I saw this movie at the artsy movie theater in town. It's beautifully done, happy,sad, factual. I enjoyed it so much I felt it was worth owning, great price too!

We bought this movie for a gift and have not seen it ourselves. However, the person we gave it to is very much looking forward to seeing it and everything about it seemed to indicate it is a very good story.

Was a great movie that did well condensing a 600 page book into a 2 hour movie. They left out some details that would have enhanced the movie, but still a great movie.

I highly recommend to read the actual book first and then watch the movie. Not only would you understand the movie more but also have an appreciation of a wonderful and loving story.

A story of a young girl Jewish girl orphaned in Germany. She developed a love for reading but they burned the books in Germany. Very interesting suspenseful movie.
