Breezy Clapton

Slowhand enjoyed putting this one together....one can tell:
Clapton comes through again in true form; he brings in his pals Tom Petty,.John Mayer, Willie Nelson & Mark Knopfler to cover JJ Cale's great works and "easy rolling" cadence .....
The rocker "Rock & Roll Records" ?...yep...JJ Cale wrote that one too.
Grateful to the successes of "Cocaine" & "After Midnight", Clapton covers such JJ Cale gems as "Magnolia"...one can just feel the warm :sweet summer breezes" gently caressing the magnolia trees....
long live JJ Cale's memory ...just "Call Him the Breeze"

JJ Cale was a musician's musician--not well known to the general public, but the composer of songs such as 'After Midnight' and 'Cocaine'.Of course, these songs were made famous by Eric Clapton, the moving force behind this tribute to Cale, who passed away last year.
Clapton has gathered a stellar group of musicians for this effort-Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler and Willie Nelson all perform on the album. The songs are performed in sort of a laid-back shuffle that perfectly represents Cale's style.
I really enjoy this album and can recommend it without reservation.

Since I am from the great state of Oklahoma. I have had the opporunity to see J.J. Cale perform many times around this part of the and country and ALWAYS ENJOYED HIS MUSIC. I was glad someone like Eric Claton would take the time to put the tribute together, I really wish that Leon Russll could have been a part of the tribute, because he and J.J. Cale played together many, many, times.

This jumps right to the top of my favorite CD's of 2014. Clapton leads a super group of stars, including Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, and John Mayer. Don't look for hard rock or long guitar solos, just great songs played well. They avoid playing the Cale songs you've heard a million times (other than the title track) instead focusing on lesser-known but just as great songs from JJ Cale, who we sadly lost last year.

Eric Clapton pays tribute to the late JJ Cale in this collection of Cale's songs, performed by Clapton and his band, with guest performances. Mark Knopfler is a standout. Don White, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson and John Mayer also contribute. The CD's packaging is tasteful, but inclusion of the lyrics and more information from Clapton about why he chose these particular songs would have been nice.

Some of Eric Clapton's biggest hits were written by J.J. Cale, who was an amazing songwriter (and a helluva performer in his own right). The two of them even collaborated on The Road to Escondido. After Cale's passing, Clapton wanted to pay tribute, and he had friends who wanted to join in. The result is this superb collection of Cale's songs, performed by Clapton and others. Great stuff.

IF you're a fan of the any of the following: - JJ Cale, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Willie Nelson, the GUITAR, etc - run, don't walk to buy this CD. Possibly the greatest collection of work from the most talented guitar players alive today. The bonus is getting hear their own personal interpretations of JJ Cale's work. Easily the best CD I've heard in 2014.

This is a great "Appreciation" for a musical legend! The cast of artists on this "Appreciation" helps to show what a great songwriter JJ Cale was!
He is overlooked but appreciated for what he contributed for our ears to listen to. Enjoy this if you purchase it, I did!!

Thanks to Eric Clapton for keeping the music of JJ Cale back to the forefront. Every song's an original of JJ. Some even sound like the late JJ Cale. Only two song clock in over 4 minutes, but well worth the getting. Also highly recommend Eric Clapton/JJ Cale's road to Ensenada, you won't be disappointed.

Eric Clapton and JJ Cale had a kindred music spirit and it shows on this collection of Cale songs done by Clapton (accompanied by other various individuals). Great songs, great production. You will not be sorry for purchasing this CD if you are a fan of either Clapton, Cale, or both.

Tribute record to songwriter J J Cale who had more talent than most any of current stars in any genre.Great work from guests Willie Nelson,Tom Petty and a host of others. If you have ever heard Skynyrd's rocking cover of Call Me the Breeze you can thank the late great JJ Cale.

JJ Cale was an American singer-songwriter and musician who was one of the originators of the Tulsa Sound, a loose genre drawing on blues, rockabilly, country, and jazz influences. This CD is a tribute to the man that inspired rock!

Great cover of JJ Cale efforts with great musicians collaborating with Clapton including John Mayer, Tom Petty and Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits). Few tunes with Willie Nelson with country bias. Not a huge fan, struggles a bit with voice but overall these songs are integrated well and do not detract from album.

This is a tribute to a really great songwriter, done by some really great musicians. Clapton did a fine job assembling a "cast and crew" to put out a very good CD.
