great game, though morrowind was better

for one this game is a great addition to any rpg players collection. i will admit however that i was dissappointed with the short length of the game and the "empty" space in the landscape. it seems its predecessor morrowind had alot more in the world, every corner had something in it to collect, explore, or fight. oblivion is a little short on that side, though it still has the same great gameplay with increased graphics. the main story quest is short, however there are side quests to keep you busy and plenty of guilds to join. they also have an arena to fight in to earn money, great place to start the game. there are also expansions that add items and there are quests for the different dieties you can do, one of the best though not nessecary is the quest that grants you a skeleton key (a lock pick that doesnt break essentially). other than that the game really missed out on some of the more amazing features and items in the previous elder scrolls game and this game seems shorter in scope than morrowind. i also found out today that this game is also on ps2 which i did not know. i knew it was on ps3. the game does bring back its customization, and some of the expansions are neat, and the shivering iles will keep you busy for a few hours and the new armor is kind of neat but nothing to get excited about. hopefully we will see more to find and explore in the next elder scrolls game and the landscape isnt so barren with nothing to do. all in all it is worth a buy for the price, it will entertain and awe, but seems to have missed the mark from being what morrowind was.

Best Game For the 360 so Far...

This Version (Game of the Year Edition) is the same but you get two new, full length quests; Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. I love this game because you have the ability to go anywhere; open, steal, sell, anything and talk or kill anyone. You have the ability to create a variety of Heroes for yourself with many different races and classes to choose from. Also, there are so many side quests to complete and mines to explore that it takes a very long time to complete this game.

Extremely fun game if you have the time

This is one of those games where you cannot simply sit for 15 minutes here and there and expect to get the full enjoyment out of it. Expect to play for like 90 plus hours to explore everything, and even then you can go back to a certain place later in the game and there be new enemies, treasures, etc. The ability to do almost anything you want, where you want it and when, it makes for an incredible experience. You can do countless different missions for different factions, all with varylying levels of difficulty, or you can just putz around the entire game and never complete a single mission and it will still be fun (but I'd recommend joining factions and completing missions). So the vastness of the game will keep you entertained for countless hours. The bad parts are the caves, mines, ayelid ruins, and forts. They all look the same for the most part. I mean they are still fun and all, but they LOOK the same, even though theres different enemies in each ones and some special NPC's. The only final gripe I have, and this is exclusive to the xbox 360, are the load times if you have a ton of saves. Its even worse if you are traversion the countryside with a horse, every 10 seconds will say "loading data" and hang for a couple seconds. In caves, towns and such its fine, but can be a big time annoyance when out in the countryside. This is one game where the xbox 360 version is inferior to the PS3 version. Regardless, its still a fun game, and if you enjoyed Fallout 3, youll love this one too.

The Best RPG just got Better!

Oblivion is the latest chapter in the Elder Scrolls series, and I would say it is the best by far. The graphics are fantastic, especially outside of the cities in the forests. There are tons of quests to do, and many paths for your character to take (good, evil, etc), and what lifestyle you choose has a bearing on what quests you have the chance to attempt. There's SO much to do, I know that some people can get overwhelmed because it's not obvious in the very beginning what to do. I just recommend talking to a few people and you'll find your first quest. Because of the branching nature of the game, you can play it four-five-even six times and still not see everything. The best thing about the Game of the Year edition is you don't have to pay to buy the Knights of the Nine, and Shivering Isles expansions, they're included!

Oblivion on the 360 would be a wise decision for two reasons. 1) You get to sit at on a comfortable couch as you play 2) You might want the achievement points The downside is that after you beat the story and the quests there's not much else to do. You won't be able to add user-created mods to expand your game. (Mods are why Oblivion changed from 'T' to 'M') But Oblivion itself is a great open-ended RPG. It revolutionized the hit and miss system. Unlike past RPG's with Oblivion you must actually strike your enemy with your weapon or you will miss. The storyline I thought was a little weak compared to Morrowind and it didn't really affect me in any way as I was playing through it. I've had the game for two years and I still enjoy playing it though. There are tons of quests to do and even after you've done those you can go treasure hunting in Oblivion's many dungeons.

The best RPG game I ever played!!!

If you likes RPG video game and then you really should try this. It's a pretty old game, the gaphic is not outstanding in this time. But it has a reason for the game of the year. The whole story is great, and you have so many choices in the game. Also unlike other RPG game, the producer really out a lot of passion into it: you got a huge world to explore. Some other RPG games I played, like Fable, Dragon age, they are ok games, but they got nothing except the main story, it's like you finish the game so fast, and it tiotally disappiont you. But Oblivion is totally different, there are so many things you can do outside the main story line, if you want to play through this game and enjoy all the posibilities, you definetely need more than 100 hours, or much more. It got so many races to choose, a lot classes to choose, and it's just a great game, the game of the year.

this game is so good, that i bought a 360 just to play it. some of the glitches in the game make it better. for instance: the arrow trick. this game is worth every penny. there are so many different options, every time you start a new game, it feels like you are playing a brand new game.

Great overall game. It's designed to be completely open to the gamer. There are multiple quest lines to follow and you get to any of them at your own leisure. Want a more difficult game?? Start with all the side quests such as Fighter's Guild, Mages Guild, the Arena or the Dark Brotherhood!! Once you get through these, you can attack the Main Quest at a much higher character level which will make your opponents much tougher to beat. I can't say enough about this game.

I've played every game in the Elder Scrolls series, and they just keep getting better. They've done a great job with continuing to make a huge game world, but improving your ability to move around within it. There is fast travel if you want it, or you can walk through the wilderness. The number of side quests is simply staggering, and has a good deal of variety. There are single-shot quests, as well as plot lines that almost rival the main plot line for length, for example the Mage's and Fighter's guild quest lines. Some of the side quests are simply hilarious, especially the Daedric Shrine quest for Sheogorath. The GOTY edition includes the two largest expansions: The Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. Shivering Isles is an extraordinay quest line, again rivaling the main quest line for length and complexity.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition is a must have. 2 expansions are included. The Shivering Isles and The Knights of the Nine. There are many quests and story lines that you can follow such as saving Cyrodill, joining the Dark brotherhood, becoming a mage at the mages guild and more. The enviorment that you play in is simply amazing. There is a lot of detail. There are a few downsides but the gameplay makes you forget about it.Some caves may have been too dark to see in but thats probably just my tv. I would like to have seen some more voice actors because a lot of the characters had the same voice. The loading screen also took a while for me. I also recommend that you buy the computer version because there are a lot of mods that allow you to have even more fun.

it took me about 78 hours to do all of the fraction quest and beat the main quest and 75% of all free form quest on my nord. This game is incredibly slow at first you will play it for 1 hour then get bored trust me but once you get into doing the quest you will not put it down. I downloaded all of the extra content (havent done knights of the nine yet) i liked it all the vile lair is good so you will not have to do the vampire quest wich is VERY long. It took me about 15 to beat shivering isles without the guide but i doubt i did all the freeform quest. I like the sivering isle quest better then the main one in oblivion. Hands down get this game if you have an xbox 360 this is the first one you should buy.

At first when I played Oblivion I did not get what was going on. There is so much in the game that you always lose the main plot of the game. I've seen people that put more than 700 hours of gameplay into Oblivion and still have plenty of time to put into the game. I started the game again and i cannot get enough of it. There is so much to do it seems like forever untill you beat everything there is to offer. I recommend this game because it will keep you entertained and also takes a very long time to beat....

This game is amazing. There are so many quests, and so much gameplay. I like how you can design your charectors looks, such as his/her physical appearance, and clothes. There are so many clothes and armour you can wear, and weapens you can wield. I haven't gotten to the shivering isles part yet, but I am working on it. If you like achievements, this is a great game for you, they have very well set achievements. This expansion has an extra 250 gamerscore you can get. The loading can be a little upsetting some times, but its all worth it. This is one of my favorite games. It is a good price for what you are getting out of it.

This game is one of the best games i have ever played. It is more open then Morrowind. The radiant AI is very nice , they skleep, eat, drink, and tons of other actions. The physics are excellent, but can go crazy sometimes. Huge amount of weapons and armor, and most of them look cool. Lots of little things, you can purchase houses, ride horses, etc. there are also perks on your skills, for example when you reach level 50 in marksman you can zoom in slightly, or with 100 acrobatics you can jump on water. For tons more of information on this game you could go to: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page or the Elder scrolls Website.

I asked for this game to a friend, and he never recieved it back, i sold it and bought the GOTY Edition: This is the Best RPG game for your 360, buy it, even if you don`t know about RPGs, this is the best one, you have an open free world to do what you want, have awesome weapons, armor, extra download content, and quests! There is no multiplayer for this game, but that doesent take out its fun, i recommend you and all of my friends to buy it, specially this edition.

    Huge RPG

The great thing about this game is not only the amazingly detailed graphics but how easily it can suite your style of gameplay. If you want to play stealth, hack-and-slash, or just an adventurous RPG you can. You pick a name, race, and gender and then you play the game and how you play determines your class progression. The game will recommend the character class for you to focus on but you can choose to customize your class if a cookie cutter class isn't for you. Just choose skills you like using or ones that compliment your main skills, you have full control of what kind of character you make! And if you like casters there are tons of spells to choose from. Not only is there a main quest you can follow, you can ignore it completely and do side quests that are rewarding enough for you to want to keep on going, before long you may even forget about the main quest. Another thing thats really cool about this game is the fact that it's real-time in a way that the characters in the towns you visit all have a schedule and won't always be standing around waiting for you to interact with them. And when you do interact with them you don't have to read speech bubbles, it's all vocal and they even have expressions on their faces that change with the conversation. This makes it easy to get sucked into this world. The only thing that I personally don't like about this game is that you will often find yourself fighting one monster at level 5 and at level 25 it often times seems to provide the same difficulty when you were lower level. That kind of bothers me but not enough to drop the rating to a 4 since so many other things about this game is done so well. If you like open ended, customizable character classes, and the ability to roam around freely to do what ever you want be it good or bad then this is a great game to get.
