Survival horror meets action horror - with amazing results! Great enemies, weapons and design. The level layouts and surroundings are beautifully creepy! Great game on all fronts.

This is the first game I bought for my PS4. I love the genre and so far this game is pretty good.

to me RE4 was one of the best games ever made so I had to explore this one right away and I am not disappointed. I find it to be difficult - which I don't mind - and enjoyably scary/creepy. I also like the mechanism of the game which is so much like RE4, it makes me feel like I'm home.

This game will give u nightmares. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This is a horrible movie

I thought this game would be a lot better considering it was from the guy that brought us the resident evil series but was seriously disappointed. The story was flat and not very interesting. However visually the game is stunning. That alone cannot make this game a recommended buy

Its a very fun interactive game. It was a gift for my younger brother, however it is very gory!

I haven't progressed too far in the game because of the challenge level of it and some game play choices by the developers but I love the atmosphere that this game evokes even though it may be too gory for some, I believe it doesn't attempt to pull any punches and make it too easy.

You're a cop who's reporting to a crime scene at an insane asylum. You get knocked out, and wake up and your world is completely different. The world has seemed to be taken over by some kind of horror. As soon as this game starts, you're running for your life. This game feels much like a third person resident evil, mixed with Alan Wake and it's a good thing. Turn the lights down low, and prepare to jump out of your seat for scares.

the game doesn't do a very good job of explain what the heck is going on; i found myself confused and lost a great deal of the time. the controls didn't seem very responsive and the game wasn't even all that scary... do not buy unless you're into that resident evil type stuff

One of the most atmospheric games I've ever played since Resident Evil 1-4. A must buy!

The game is fun, scary, and graphics are good. The only thing is, its aggravating at times. Weapons are scarce and seem to be impossible to find when you need them most. You spend a lot of time running for your life instead of being able to fight off monsters because of this.

Pretty fun game, i would recommend it. It is pretty easy.

This is one of the Scariest games I've ever seen. My kids can't stop playing it. This one of the few games that I like to play it's almost like your in a horror movie youself

This was an okay game at a good price. I'm not sure I would recommend it for everyone.

Though the game offers great gameplay, graphics and environments, it lacks in the actual horror. The story is a little convoluted. Parts of the game are repetitious and unbelievably frustrating. Most of the scares are your typical jump scares and they verge more on the side of disturbing then scary. The best thing about this game is the enemy design. Not quite zombies and not quite possessed, but a little bit of both. Right at the start of the game you thrown in to a room with "Leatherface" type enemy and that pretty much sums up the entirety of the game. In summary if you're looking for a good survival horror game, this isn't it. If you're looking for a great action game with some jump scares and tons of gore and violence, then this is it.

The atmosphere is great and the lack of any real idea what you're doing at the start of the game makes it that much more creepy. If anything changes I'll update the review,but for now would highly recommend this game unless you're prone to nightmares or afraid of blood.

Very tough game to the point of fustrating at times

The Evil Within is a good game, however, not scary like it was advertised. My problem with the game, personally, was the film bars and to much film grain, but at least you can turn down the film grain, you cannot turn off the film bars. This caused me some nausea which may not bother others. I could only play for an hour or so then It hit me. I also noticed a small detail that I thought was odd, the guns in particular sounded weird on my surround sound. I have a 7.1 surround sound, Paradigm speakers paired with a JVC amp, all high end equipment. I noticed the handgun especially sounded like it had no impact or lack thereof. Even on my headset, this gun had was just, blah. Maybe it's me but every other game I have sounds great on my surround system or headset. Resident Evil 4, to me, sounds better. Small gripes aside it is still a good game. Just watch out for those film bars, they obstruct your view quite a bit.
