Customers appreciate the solid gameplay, immersive horror elements, and engaging story in "The Evil Within." Many also praised the game's atmosphere and action, though some found the difficulty challenging and the controls could use improvement. A few players noted issues with ammo scarcity and occasional frame rate inconsistencies. The camera controls also received mixed feedback.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game at all! After playing for 4+ hours all that I was able to get from this game was repetitive dying, clunky controls and a story that made no sense at all. Oh, and the in game camera on this is terrible too;It just wasn't any fun playing this game at all.

I'm not enjoying this game. The graphics don't really take advantage of the new generation of systems. In fact, this game performs pretty lousy. The game plays in a widescreen aspect ratio with black bars taking up precious screen space. Don't waste your money.

Had a blast playing this game. It was an ode to the original survival horror games before like resident evil before it got too much into being action. It is hard even on normal but it is worth pushing through. Gave it only 4 stars because the story was passable, but hopefully the season pass that comes out in March 2015 explains more. If you like this kind of genre and can stomach the gore then this is the game for you.

This game has more cut scenes and less game play then a good survival horror game should have. The game play is limited and does not allow the gamer the same type of free play as the great Resident Evil series (1-5).

This game was pretty boring and felt unorganized. I couldn't get into it and ended up selling it soon after I got it.

LOVED the atmosphere and gameplay in this game. Was good pure survival horror......till the last few chapter where it went full modern Resident Evil (Too much action oriented, no enough horror) Would still highly recommend this game overall.

This game is a decent retread of a lot of different survival horror games. However, it adds nothing new or special. Fans who've already played recent and classic survival horror games are better off waiting for this to go to the bargain bin. Games such as Deadly Premonition and even Murdered: Soul Suspect have recently had more to add to the survival horror genre. This game is a mashup of games including Resident Evil 4/5 and Silent Hill. If your hungry for more of the same it's decent enough. Just don't expect to be wowed. If you like Debussy's, 'Clair de Lune'' you get to hear it every 15 minutes, this game is for you.

When I played this game it was scary and the atmosphere gets to you but in a fun way. I heard it was made by the creators of Resident Evil and that's what made me buy. the beginning of the game is good and once you get past that the story gets interesting and game gets better and better.

This is one of my favorite survival horror games since Dead Space 1 on PS3 or Resident Evil 4 on PS2. The game is really freaky and has some great visuals. The camera is a little different from what most people are used to but once you get used to it it's a blast to play this game.

If you are a fan of Shinji Mikami's other famous work, Resident Evil, you'll probably enjoy this. This is pure survival horror, for good or ill. Just like that other famous game, this one has somewhat anachronistic game mechanics, sparse ammo, and occasionally slow pacing. If you can stomach those warts, this game could be up your alley. It's spooky and surreal and far more psychological than Resident Evil, which is refreshing. Go ahead and take a risk on the game, but don't spend $60.

This is a good game if your into resident evil you'll definitely like this one it starts of as a horror game then it turns into a intense action game this kind makes me think of Bruce Campbell army of darkness and evil dead meets resident evil overall fun game not as scary as its being promoted as but it is intense

If you played RE4, you'll like this game because its game play is similar, but with a higher resolution of course. The storyline is good and the suspense is there, which are the same feelings I when I first played RE4.The only reason why I gave it 4 stars rating is because I felt that the character movement and control mechanics are a little stiff, and the bosses are not that challenging. However, a good game nonetheless, for sure better than RE6.

This game surprised me. I did not expect much from it, but the depth and story that get revealed make me like this game a whole lot. It's hard from the start, but you gotta stick with it!

Very creepy and addictive game. A lot of nightmarish stuff and things get pretty intense, which is perfect if you like survival horror. The story is kind of convoluted, but the gameplay makes up for it. If you're a fan of old school Resident Evil and Silent Hill, give this one a chance.

It isn't Silent Hill 2 or Resident Evil 4, but still a good game nonetheless. Things can be a bit repetitive and the boss run at the end is annoying, but it's a solid game. I picked it up on BF2014 for $25 which is a fair price. Don't pay $60 for this one.

Reminiscent of RE but not quite RE. This game is one of my favorite "survival horror" games for years. It truly has some scary moments though i wouldn't call the game horrifying. More so would call it a fly by the seat of your pants, chew a few fingernails off here and there scare ride. If you enjoy 3rd person puzzle/survivor-horror games this is for you.

From the maker of the original Resident Evil game. The Evil Within is a fun game with some minor issues here and there. If you are a fan of old school Resident Evil games try out The Evil Within!
