Excellent recording, especially as a comeback album.

10 great songs marred by severe distortion

Its unfortunate this CD set seems to have become another victim of the recording industry's push to make CDs as freaking loud as they possibly can, even in spite of their already wonderful 96dB of dynamic range. The music here is awesome (right inline with what I expect from Jane's Addiction, having owned their 3 prior studio albums), however severe clipping of the drumbeats on many of the songs is just unbearable for me to listen to (the included 11-song live bonus disc is not much better). This clipping distortion probably won't be real noticeable on a low-end car stereo while driving, or on a small portable boombox... However if you've ditched those junky earbud things for a real set of headphones on your personal music player, or spent good coin on a dedicated pair of free-standing home stereo speakers, then you'll probably want to pass on this one.

Latest release from Jane's Addiction is good. Songs sound similiar in nature but still a good rocking CD.
