I got this for my husband as a gift from the fur babies. And, of course, I had to sit and watch it with him and the brood. So worth it. The added scenes really closed gaps in the story. The fur babies will be giving their daddy the Extended Edition of LOTR for his birthday.

If you are a true fan of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit series the extended versions are by far the best cinematic experience. Sure the movies are already lengthy, but if you want the best version all of the added material is essential to experiencing the story. Not to mention the trilogy comes in a great case and looks awesome on the shelf.

Not only is the movie a great movie but this extended version on Blu Ray is truly wonderful. It has added in many scenes that really help to fill in the gaps and really hold true to the books. The extras also really help understand the whole movie making process and bring the actors and the characters alive.

These are great movies and don't really feel bloated or padded as far as the run time goes. The picture and sound are amazing. Smaug's voice alone is incredible. The third film is actually rated R because of the violence, but I don't consider it to be too much worse than the other movies in this saga.

All the negative reviews surprise me because these movies are pretty entertaining. I think Lord of the Rings had everybody's expectations up way too high, but even so I really enjoyed these movies. True, there are a few slow spots especially at the very beginning, but that is expected when you are setting up 8ish hours of movies. Now for the extras. I've only gone through one of the six extra disks and I am so impressed. The first two extras disks are a combined 10 hours of extra content. I'm a documentary fan, so I'm actually enjoying the extras more than the actual movies at this point. This was a great purchase.

I bought this collection to go with the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition, and I was not disappointed. The movies themselves are great, but the packaging is also really nice (durable and aesthetically pleasing). Having digital copies of the movies is also a huge plus. I would highly recommend this box set to any fan of Tolkien's works.

Exactly what I was hoping for. This trilogy had a lot to live up to after the Lord of the Rings movies were so amazing. The extra footage made me feel better about each film than when I saw them in theaters.

Well pretty much it's an awesome movie and I enjoy the Hobbit series. I reviewed the DVD version already because I bought the wrong version lol. It's pretty much the same as the extended DVD version. Only difference is the boxing. The artwork, casing are the real difference. Both the DVD and Blu-Ray are beautiful and well done.

Great quality and the the extended added scenes makes for a more enjoyable movie. After watching the extended version of The Hobbit, I now have to go watch the extended version of the Lord of the Rings....and read all the books over for the 8th time. This is one adventure I cannot get tired of.

As a long time Tolkien fan and appreciator of Peter Jackson's interpretations, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this set and thrilled that it -aesthetically- blends perfectly with my existing extended edition of Lord of the Rings. It's what I wanted, and BB had it in store at a fair price even when A-.com was out of stock.

I have seen the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit was well worth watching. However I would watch The Hobbit first if I was watching from the beginning. Gives you background prior to Lord of the Rings. Kinda like how they made starters. Made the movies then the backstory

The movies themselves are awesome, but was extremely disappointed that there was not a digital copy included for all three movies. Only a copy for the last movie in the trilogy was included. For the price, you’re better off buying all three separately so you’ll get digital copies for all three. It’s a shame they packaged a great product but came up short.

I got it for a Christmas present for my daughter. She love it. She has been wanting it for a long time. The price was better or equal to other stores I checked. I also got to use $10.00 off in rewards that I had, making it a super deal.

I wasn't really a fan of Lord of the Rings until I decided one day to check them out on my own. They are absolutely stunning movies that I get lost in whenever I watch them. Because of this, I had high expectations for the prequel trilogy, and was not disappointed. These movies are wonderful and a great addition to the franchise.

It's the Hobbit. If your purchasing this, your probably already a fan of the series. The picture and sound is amazing and comes with a ton of extra hours of footage and features not seen in theaters. Goes great with my LotR extended bluray edition I also just recently purchased (which I also highly recommend too) I love Best Buy!

The Hobbit Triology was never as good as LOTR, and that's fine for me. I also don't need it to be a exact replica of the book it is loosely based on. I say loosely because the movie really isn't a representation of the book in any meaningful way, but I'm ok with that because the only thing I really wanted out of the movies were a strong sense of connectedness to the world of the LOTR movies, which is pretty much all these movies are there for. The movies themselves are ok at best, and use too much CG, but interweave a lot of set ups for LOTR that as a fan of the cinematic universe I appreciated.

This extended edition of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy with it's hours and hours of added content & special features is just perfect for LOTR fanatics.

Excellent! Great price! Goes right along with the Extended Edition of LoTR. Box looks beautiful, extra content is hours upon hours for behind the scenes, making of, interviews, etc. For the movies, they seem a bit overly long, but do yourself a favor - set aside time, dim the lights, and ENJOY! You won't regret this purchase.

We recently purchased a 4K uhd TV from Best Buy and wanted to watch the Hobbit trilogy a format that would look good. This Blu-Ray DVD filled the bill quite nicely. Picture and sound quality are excellent. While I haven't viewed any of the extended disks i anticipate that we will not be disappointed.

Watching this movie was like going back in time as a child again. I watched the movie with my 4 year old granddaughter. The Snow White movie is timeless. The Blu-ray quality was so so. How can you really enhance a cartoon that is several decades old. Regardless an enjoyable movie experience for all ages. Would recommend.
