While it is true Sean Connery can elevate any movie in which he is in, The Hunt for Red October is one of those rare movies that come along every now and then, that just appeals to everyone. The submarine attack scenes were just outstanding. I have purchased this movie so many times and in all the formats. The latest purchase, which was the 4K steelbook, was only eye candy so I could proudly display this iconic movie, as the art design on the steelbook really stands out. If there is anyone left on planet Earth who has not seen this great movie, I'd highly recommend you watch it.

Loved this movie. Alec Baldwin was wonderful as well as Sean Connery and many others. The story was not the usual intrigue; this story had a fabulous conclusion, so much fun to watch men exchange everything they had inside to accomplish what they needed and wanted. Not necessarily an action movie, more of a thinking movie about ambition meeting a person's truth. And it was super inexpensive. Best Buy has my favorite movies on dvd and they always provide accurate shipping info; website is easy to use.

I'm surprised that this Limited Edition steelbook is still available for sale on Best Buy. It's a great movie that you can watch more than once. I would highly recommend this one to all the Steelbook collectors out there. I noticed that Best Buy usually doesn't say if it's a Limited Edition or not when it comes to steelbooks. As it's a Limited Edition steelbook it's a no brainer. I spent the full price but I noticed it has gone on sale. If you see it at a low price, jump on this one.

“The Hunt for Red October” is the first film in the Jack Ryan film series. While Adam Baldwin is good as Ryan, though, this film belongs to Sean Connery as a Russian submarine commander who is trying to defect with a state-of-the-art Soviet sub called the Red October. With both the Americans and Soviets searching for him, Jack must try to figure out a way to convince everyone of the commander’s intentions. Plenty of great action and great performances make this a film worth watching again and again!

Great movie based on a great novel. Plus you have a Scot playing a (Lithuanian?) Russian Sub Commander with a Scottish accent. Alec Baldwin was in this, when he still had a decent career, as Jack Ryan…but he’s no Harrison Ford…ahhh…Harrison Ford…did you know he was in an episode of Gunsmoke?!? But I digress…watch this movie…or don’t…but if you do, buy it from Best Buy.

One of Sean Connery's better roles outside of Bond. In general though, a thoroughly enjoyable action flick with a star-studded cast. Also, when people ask you what movie you know Tim Curry from, you can lay this one on them. Everyone has at least one movie they can watch over and over and over and never get tired of it. This is one of mine. I love this movie.

This is a better version of the 1990 movie The Hunt for Red October. We get better graphics throughout and we have an updated UHD 4K version as well included. A Digital Copy is also provided for the first time. The picture and sound are really good and I believe it is the best version out there. If you have the right 4K equipment to view it, it is like looking being right there at the theater. Special features have been brought over on the Blu-ray from previous release.

Excellent movie, but i’m Partial to these types. Was a little slower than I remember.

Based on the novel by Tom Clancey, the Hunt for Red October is a film about a new, technologically advanced Russian submarine under the command of Marko Ramius (Sean Connery). When Ramius heads for the United States east coast, the U.S. government thinks he is going to attack. C.I.A analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) thinks differently. What is the true intention or Ramius? Will he succeed with both the Russian and U.S navy looking for him? Buy it, watch it, LOVE IT!

I remember when "The Hunt for Red October" first came out in 1990. I was astonished that a movie about submarines, secret agents, political games, and characters not named James Bond could be so incredibly entertaining! Thirty+ years later, this classic film has been released in a top-notch 4k steelbook edition that has never looked, sounded, or appeared better. What a film!

I remember well when The Hunt for Red October first came out in theaters. I thought the movie was pretty darn good, portraying a great Tom Clancy book in an exciting way, with well known actors and new, in a way that glamorized the submarine world I had just left the previous year. This movie introduced Alec Baldwin to the world as Jack Ryan, and Sean Connery as a Soviet Captain who wasn't actually the enemy. The remaster seems quite good, both visually and sound-track wise. I watched it on a 92" screen with a UHD front projector and found the presentation to be engaging, the sound was unobtrusive but fully supporting the image, overall the experience was pleasing and surprising how well this movie stands up to the test of time.

This is a good presentation of an excellent movie. This version does not change the original already-great audio track but adds Dolby Vision to the release. Video is a bit mixed. Highlights pop and details are fantastic, but the blacks, while very good, can be crushed at times. Loved this movie. This was one of the first of Tom Clancy's novels to make it to the big screen. The novel was better than the movie. However, the cinematography, action, and storyline were great in capturing the suspense and action from the novel to the big screen. I've often wondered how Harrison Ford would have done in the role of Jack Ryan in this film (compared to Alec Baldwin). Ford starred in the next two Tom Clancy movies: Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Sean Connery, James Earl Jones, Scott Glen, Courtney B. Vance, Fred Thompson, and a host of other big-name notables (e.g., Stellan Skarsgård, Colin Firth, etc.) were great in their roles as well.
