If you love Sean Connery movies, the Tom Clancy novels, or just good movies, this movie is a must-own. The level of detail is amazing and the story is fantastic. The 4k and HDR remaster make the film look superb. Plus, if you collect steelbooks, the images all look amazing. Buy this movie if you are on the fence and I am positive you won't regret it

If you are a fan of this movie, and own the DVD version released in 1999, this Blu-ray version will provide significant improvement to the picture quality. The DVD version is letterboxed which reduces the image to fill only 60 percent of the screen height. The DVD picture also shows distracting picture noise. The Blu-ray version removes the noise, and provides a more detailed picture, along with filling the screen horizontally. The screen ratio is slightly wider also, which shows more picture information on the sides of the screen not visible on the DVD. Unfortunately, this is a buy-it-again double dip worth owning.

I've always had a soft spot for submarine films, and this has been a favourite since childhood. It has a fantastic cast and was made during McTiernan's heyday. The UHD upgrade looks phenomenal for the time it was made, given some soft shots inherent in the source. Sound is loud and natural. The steelbook itself boasts a great presentation.

One of my favorite movies. Without spoiling it, I enjoy the cat-and-mouse play between Connery's and Baldwin's characters and factions in this event that occurs during the Cold War. I recommend giving it a watch.

I love the movie the Hunt for Red October and had it in my Amazon Prime movies to watch until Amazon removed it recently. Using my Best Buy Birthday gift and a few extra dollars to get the UHD 4K Steelcase book of it was a no brainer for me. I have loved watching it on 4KUHD TV played in my 4KUHD Blu-ray Player.

The movie is excellent. I loved it the first time in 1990, and it never gets old. I love the SteelBook editions of movies. There's always a little something extra, the artwork is fantastic, and I love the extra protection the discs have in the metal case. Highly recommend!!

Audio quality: 5 No complaints at all on the immersive TrueHD soundtrack. Bonus features: 4 The audio commentary track is great and worth a listen. Featurettes are in SD but entertaining.

One of the best submarine films ever made, I actually enjoyed this more than the book with it's tight plotting and excellent cast. The action packed climax towards the end will have you on the edge of your seat.

Considering the age of this film and the technical advances we have currently, this is a solid improvement over the blu-ray. The blacks are very good and the overall detail is noticeable. The sound quality is also outstanding. I highly recommend this 4K release for anyone’s movie library.

Classic movie in a steelbook and blu-ray format. Hunt for Red October is a classic thriller that still holds up even today. Definitely worth considering for any movie fan that appreciates the tense Cold-War classic.

Had this on Laserdisc and have seen it on tv several times, but this 4K transfer takes it to another level! Excellent story, video, and audio! Highly recommended!

Great 4k upgrade from the past release of this movie. The hdr picture is the best it's going to get on this film; you are definitely in for a treat.

I think that Alec Baldwin did an excellent job as Jack Ryan. I've wondered why they could never get him for the continuing films. But definitely an intense action packed thrill ride! A great submarine movie as well, definitely worth the purchase.

This is seriously one of my all time favorite movies. I had been meaning to get it on Blu-ray but when I found it in this steel book 4K I immediately purchased it for use on my new 4K TV. Great Transfer to 4K and still one of my favorites.

This is a “must have.” It is a tremendous movie with an entirely plausible plot. The script is great, the acting is great, and the 4K conversion is flawless.

I know this is an older movie but watching it on 4K made it look brand new. Have always enjoyed watching this movie and the 4K transfer was really well done.

My favorite movie of ALL time! The Rolls Royce of movies. The actors play their rolls superbly and the special effects are exceptional.

Hunt for Red October is a excellent war movie with mystery and action all wrapped in two hours of popcorn eating. The video and audio transferred into 4K is excellent. This movie belongs in the library of excellent reproduction into 4K.

This is my favorite movie of all time. I seen it at the show back in 1990. Before this release the only way you can get this on 4k was to buy the entire set. Which was pricy. Steelbook makes it all the more a great collector's piece.

Love this movie and happy to have it in 4K steelbook. Only thing I wish they did with the packaging was to make sure the "movie info card" was either printed on the back of the box or fit in the box for storage.
