As a longtime fan of The Last of Us series, I was eager to experience Part II Remastered on the PS5, and it did not disappoint. The visual enhancements, including native 4K resolution and improved textures, breathe new life into the game's already stunning world.

The main positive aspect of this game is definitely it's graphics. I'm not sure how this "remastered" version specifically compares to the original PS4 release since I never owned that one. From comparisons I've seen, it's definitely not as much of an upgrade over the PS4 version as The Last of US Remastered for PS4 was over the PS3 version. But it still looks good. The gameplay can be very fun, but I think I still prefer the first game's gameplay. Part II does add some new mechanics, but it also feels like it takes a lot away from you compared to Part I. The more open environments are cool, but there's times where it feels like it's taking forever to walk around the entire area just to find a few extra supplies. The game takes roughly twice as long to finish as the original, which I don't think is a good thing in this case. I do like the slightly more realistic reactions the enemies have during combat. And the game depicts violence in a way that I personally haven't seen out of many, if any, other games, which I did like. While I think the gameplay and pacing have issues, the gameplay and graphics are the main reasons I am giving two stars instead of just one.
The reason I'm not giving any more than two stars is the story. This is obviously still a big controversy if you look around online, but it really did not work for me. There were moments here and there that were satisfying, but overall this is not what I would have wanted out of a sequel to first game. I could go on and on about why that is, but I don't want to spoil anything in this review. The first game had a great balance of emotions and was ultimately about finding hope in an otherwise hopeless world. This game has every character absolutely miserable about 90% of the time and has an incredibly depressing ending that did not feel earned at all. The first game also has characters with morally grey backstories or that make morally grey decisions. But the characters you are meant to get attached to generally have good intentions even when they're forced into situations where they might have to do something that could be considered wrong. The second game, in my opinion, is filled with characters that have questionable motives at best, or outright bad intentions at worst. The game seems to expect you to sympathize with these people by the end of the game. But instead of giving them good intentions for their actions, it just tries to distract you from the bad things they do. As I said, this does not work for me and left me very unsatisfied

So far, I am loving the story of the Last of Us Part 2. The character building of Ellie and Joel is worth waiting through the long cinematics, and I find myself appreciating Part 1 by connecting more with this worlds characters. My only criticism (so far) is that there are "open world" portions of this game that felt underdeveloped, I wanted to explore the broken city of Seattle just a bit more at my own pace. Overall, awesome game and I am excited to see how it ends!

One of the best video games ever made. I've played this game too many times to count, and I decided to buy the physical format of this game instead of the digital upgrade Sony was providing. The graphics are slightly better in this remastered version and there are some nice unlockable items like skins and photos, etc. The "No Return" mode, which is where you have smaller, special missions to get through to unlock certain skills or weapons, to ultimately get to a final boss, it just OK. I loved it at first but it gets old real fast. This was their attempt to appease everyone that was expecting a Factions II Multiplayer game but they didn't have the time or bandwidth to complete it. Either way, at this pricepoint it's definitely worth having in your collection before everything turns digital.

TLOU Pt.1 was a masterpiece at the time. I've replayed it recently and think that it's still a quality game but the storyline is what carried it. For TLOU Pt. 2 the storyline stumbles and the only real strength is the split between Ellie and Abby. The reason for the 3 stars is the gameplay is still fun and good quality. I'm more of a stealth gamer and appreciate games where stealth still is rewarded and a genuine option. However, the overall game was challenging for me to complete due to the storyline. The ending was fine, not great, but in summary I think the storyline was very average, and gameplay was fun.

I don't know why this games gets so much hate. Great game and it feels really long and the story is amazing. I can't wait for season 2 of the show as well

The graphics on this game are a nice step up. The story line is mad interesting and the gameplay is as good as ever. If you enjoyed part 1 I would strongly suggest playing part 2.

Great squeal in terms of gameplay, story, and overall feel. Would love additional features e.g less restrictive world but if you liked the first one you will not be disappointed with this one.
