This game is well worth the $60, $48 if you're a member of GCU. I have been playing the game daily for almost a month and there are still plenty of things to do. The graphics are great, combat is amazing and the story is also captivating. If you're going to purchase a Nintendo game this should be your first pick no questions asked. You do not even need to be a fan of the Zelda games to get right into it and enjoy it.

This is a very interesting take on the Legend of Zelda game series. You wake from a slumber seemingly unaware of anything around you. Your first weapon is probably a tree branch or a torch, and the weapons will break... often. But it’s an immersive game and clever puzzles worthy of the Zelda name. The only downside is, as I mentioned, your weapons break. There is nothing you can do if you break a favorite weapon and it’s a little weird seeing Link wielding anything other than a trademark sword. It creates a need for strategic battle planning though, and isn’t a game breaker. There are other interesting changes too, such as a stamina bar and cooking ingredients. If you like large scale RPGs, if you liked Skyrim, this game is for you.

This is the most fun I have had playing a game in quite a while. There is endless opportunity to explore and try things. I Love that when it's raining, the fuses on your bomb arrows and your fires will go out, Electricity conducts through water and metal, etc... and because of details like this there are multiple ways to solve puzzles.

One of my most anticipated games of 2017 and the last few years, BoTW delivers on every front. -The game itself is massive and a lot of fun to explore. I've put about 80 hours into it and still have a ton of content left to go. -The visuals themselves are really decent looking, and even at 900p with a adaptive resolution the game still looks marvelous on my 4K TV. The framerate itself is around 25-30 FPS on average, with it only dipping when in heavily wooded areas with a lot of grass and tree effects. -Combat is fun, although weapons break too easily and I wish there was a option tor repair some of the more fancier weapons instead of having to scavenge every time. -There are more then 120 shrines in the game and many of them have some of the most creative puzzles in the series, as well as multiple ways to finish quite a few of them. Sadly, there are several "test of strength" shrines that pad out a good chunk of them that use the same enemy type and become way to easy, and quite a few of them rely on just finding the shrine instead of solving puzzles. -The quests themselves are fun, but the rewards for doing them are not worth it many times. -The dungeons themselves are interesting, but they are way too short and rely on the same gimmicks, as well as not getting anything new from them. I am hoping future Zelda games that use this style fix the way the dungeons were in this game. Overall, I am really happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone that has a Wii U or Switch.

Great game, you'll read that everywhere. Instead, let me tell you what sucks about this game. Weapon damage - any weapon you like is going to break. Don't get attached, a constant pain. And it's not a reasonable break....certain metal weapons break after 10-15 strikes. It's annoying Stamina wheel - a cheap/frustrating method of keeping sections of the game locked until later. Link is able to run and climb the equivalent distance of a 75 year old asthmatic until you complete about 15 shrines to make the game playable by unlocking a full additional stamina wheel. My advice is to finish these shrines and unlock stamina before you even attempt the main story. Other than that, I enjoyed this game.

This Zelda game has outdone itself. There is nothing, zero things I can say negative about this game. Excellent gameplay, great graphics, an adventurous storyline and an edge of your seat experience at every moment. Played for weeks now and still have not scratched the surface of getting to the middle of this game. Vast open world with tons of mini missions and adventures to complete. Thanks for this amazing game!

Hands down the best Zelda in the series, ever! Reminds me somewhat of the Witcher3, and by the witcher3 I mean the fact that you can basically explore, climb and interact with every character and do many mini side quest. I still have not finished the game, there is just too much to explore and you find your self constantly distracted by the side missions. Let this game take your money, you won't regret it! lol

This game is immersive: a large, well-structured world that feels real in all the right ways. It is challenging: you start out with a bare minimum of gear and ability, and have to forge your own path toward the ultimate showdown with the big bad guy. The story is touching, the visuals are breathtaking, and the sense of accomplishment is immense as you progress through each event.

Gameplay was totally a new style compared to the other Zelda games. The game has a variety of content that will entertain anyone for hours. The main story line may be short if you only focus on the main quest, but if you play the game throughly the game is not short at all. Plus DLC are still pending to extend the game even more!

I've only had Breath of the Wild for a short time now, but boy oh boy. The game is beautiful. The combat is engaging. The puzzles are fun. The controls are still tripping me up a little because I'm playing an older Zelda game at the same time, but it's a minor complaint. I sat down to play for an hour the other day, and when I checked the clock it was 3am and 7 hours had passed. Would buy again.

An amazing game. Great open world environment that gives you a distinct feeling of Wind Waker while still being more interesting with its open world mechanics. I can't speak if it is worth getting a Nintendo Switch if your on edge because I haven't played the Wii U version. However in the first hour of playing I was so captivated by the graphics and mechanics that I felt it justified getting a switch on launch day.

    Play how you want

In short, BOTW is a fun, open ended game, but don't go in expecting your typical LoZ experience. You wake up after 100 years with no memory or obligations, and appropriately, you are left to pretty much do whatever you want. There is an overarching quest to defeat the final boss, but what path you take is entirely up to you. You can run straight there to try to win in less than 30 minutes or you can explore the world at your leisure for 100s of hours; it is entirely up to you how you beat the game or whether you finish at all. The game won't nag you to complete a certain quest or area before moving on to the next one. You can try to slay powerful monsters or chase butterflies. You can learn to cook or recover your memory. Do what you want, when you want. Unfortunately for long time fans of the franchise looking for the classic LoZ style game with large dungeons where you find new items that open up the world further, BOTW is a departure from that formula. You get all of the items/runes from the start of the game. While it does mean you have everything you need to start exploring immediately, you lose that sense of progression from previous games in the series, not to mention the satisfaction that came when you'd realize how the newly found item changed how you'd interact with the world. Lastly, this game's equivalents to dungeons are quite lacking. The problem solving in earlier installments has taken a back seat to BOTW's emphasis on exploration and freedom.

I got my Switch a year late so my first game was not Breath of the Wild. I actually waited until it was on sale before buying it. I like Zelda games but usually only the first half. I've only ever beaten Ocarina of Time and Link Between Worlds. So the hype around this game just didn't effect me. But if someone had told me that it was basically a zombie apocalypse/survival horror Zelda game, I would have been on board much earlier. I have to admit I'm only about 20 hours in but I am hooked. I love that this game is open from the start pretty much (after the tutorial) and the only thing limiting you from taking on Gannon is your skill. If you're amazing, go straight in. If you're like me you'll probably spend the next 100 + hours building yourself up and experiencing the side stories and just the world itself. Also the relationships between character are more grown up. I mean with Ocarina you met little girls who said they wanted to marry you and then 7 years time traveled and they're like, yeah I'm older now and I know now why that was a kid's fantasy. But in BotW you're an adult, they're adults, and they treat you that way. Also dialog choices, even though limited, are awesome. I have had more than once been thinking of a response only to have that exact response offered to me. I definitely suggest it! Of course this means that all my other Switch games are being ignored for a while now, it is soooo worth it!

Easily the best Zelda game in this really acclaimed franchise. I`m about 70hours in and I have done only one dungeon. This game is better enjoyed if you have the time to play it. It`s really a time damaging entertainment. The only flaw I can see with it it`s the fact that in big tropical forests, you`ll see slow downs in frame rate. But other than that, it`s a unique approach to open words games.

This was originally purchased by my wife for her to play, then i got to play for a while and was hooked! Very addictive gameplay, (got to get the next shrine!) those who have played will know! There are a few gripes about this game (easily broken weapons, no real sense of direction, etc.) but some of those are also why the game draws you in. A must buy for the switch (not really many options anyway) or the WiiU.

I played a couple of Legend of Zelda games for the Nintendo 64 back in the day (Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask) and I was looking for the Breath of the Wild game thinking that it would match the preceding games in terms of quality and storyline. To this point I would say Breath of the Wild has exceeded the content of those games. It’s been a challenging game to play but I’m still having fun playing it. I’ve also been playing Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity which I believe is a prequel to Breath of the Wild and that’s a game I recommend buying too.

I've played all of the past Zeldas and this game really made me nostalgic for some reason. This game absolutely does not hold your hand and this game can be quite challenging in the beginning. But the very diverse open world makes this game feel enormous. I'm 50 hours in, and I still want to play a lot more of this Zelda game.
