This game plays like the original, but added graphics and HD boost makes it feel like a whole new game. The added modes and controls make this game worth every penny. I highly recommend!

What a great rendition of a classic! The music, graphics, and most importantly, gameplay are modernized, but as familiar and beautiful as ever. The art book is also a really cool touch!

If you played the original on GB, you must play this. The fresh new paint is worth coming back and reliving Link’s adventure on Koholint Island. The included art book is a nice touch.

This is a great reimagining of the classic game. It looks great and controls more smoothly. It would have been nice to add in more original content though

A beautifully recreated classic that stays true to the original. The graphics are stunning. There are very few slow downs, but nothing that takes away from the gameplay.

Not enough stars to give this game. While not the most difficult Zelda game, it is a great version. I find myself playing longer than I ever did to the game boy version.

    A Classic Reborn

One of the best 2D Zeldas is reborn. I love this game. It’s a beautiful little quirky treasure that deserves to be celebrated. This is Zelda meets Twin Peaks with its characters and story. The vibe is surreal and slightly off-kilter. It’s a short game brimming with charm and love. The new art style is gorgeous. It does however have a tendency to chug in certain areas of the over world. I don’t believe this seriously hampered my experience though. Any Zelda fan has to play this. The Dreamer edition also came with an art book which was nice. Play it, you. Don’t ignore me. Buy it. Capisce?

One of the best GameBoy games of all time is back!

I played the original on the GameBoy back in 1993 and I looooved it. And this version gives it a facelift while introducing quality of life improvements such as added warp points, use of face buttons, and a simple dungeon creator mode. Folks who didn't grow up with the game might be tempted to compare the game to Breath of the Wild, but this is a far simpler, top-down perspective 2D game rather than a sprawling 3D open world (though the puzzle design still holds up). The included art book is great and the entire package is incredibly charming. Worth picking up!

    Astounding remake!

I really REALLY love what this remake did. I had played the original Gameboy Color version multiple times, and while I still love it, I do think this one made some improvements, and is much more accessible to modern gamers. The original was limited in what it could do due to being on the Gameboy, now this one has far more buttons to use; so for example in the original you had only two items slots, which meant only two items could be used at a time and you had to go to the item menu every time you needed to switch items, the sword and shield were counted amongst those items. This remake still only has two "item" slots, however the sword and shield are always equipped, and when you get the Pegasus Boots and Power Bracelet those are also always equipped, so this remake essentially allows the use of six items at once as opposed to only two items in the original. I also love the new music remixes in this game, one of my favorite remixes is the Face Shrine theme, it's very somber and rather emotional, it's now one of my favorite Zelda songs. I really like the "anime" cutscenes, it really makes me wish Nintendo would do a Zelda anime. This remake now allows the ability to switch between the red and blue tunics (something not available in the original). There is still more to this remake, but I don't want this to get too much longer. There is only one thing I wish they kept from the original DX version, which was the photographer side quest, as that had some additional dialogue from side characters that is no longer in this remake (although the additional Marin scenes are still present), the mouse photographer is utterly absent from this remake and is instead replaced with Dampe's Shack, a new place that has the new feature, Chamber Dungeons. This new feature allows you to rearrange existing dungeon pieces to create a "new" dungeon, I think it's a fun new feature. Overall, I say this game is absolutely incredible, I love the game. The little artbook found in the dreamer edition is really nice, it has really cool artwork and I love the hardcover feel, it feels likes it's of really high quality.

This is a fantastic remake, and the artbook in this edition is great! My only complaint is the frame rate in this game. I’m typically not one to be bothered by it, but it IS noticeable and consistent. However, everything else far outweighs this flaw, so I still highly recommend it.

The Zelda series is one of my favorite in the game sphere. I have followed it through the various consoles and iterations as I have grown up. I was extremely excited that the Switch not only had the worthy and much exalted Breath of the Wild but went back to revitalize the classic Link’s Awakening. I hope that Nintendo continues this trend to include other Zelda classics for a new generation to enjoy. As for the game itself, it remains true to the original with better graphics.

I think Link's Awakening is one of the worst Zeldas but it's still a great game. This is a great remake of that.

Worthwhile remake of a classic GBC game that I wish was taken further. Still too short of a game to be sold at full $60. The Switch is really showing it's deficiencies as a console trying to run this game if frame rate issues still crop up.

The game is great, just as you would expect from a Zelda game. This a great remake of a classic, but this edition was just good. I don't know why Nintendo of America still don't deliver better editions like the ones in Europe.
