Fun to play. New tricks. Initially hesitated to purchase but I think it was a good buy for a handheld game console

This game is amazing, if you are playing it for the first time. I unfortunately played it multiple times when it came out on the gameboy systems and nintendo market. It's an almost exact rehash of the original besides the graphics so it took roughly 7 hours for me to beat, not worth the 60$ price tag.

I know it’s blasphemy on the internet but I did not like Breath of The Wild very much, luckily this has satiated my desire for a Zelda game instead, echoing a simpler time in the franchise that’s more arcadey for sure. If you find yourself looking for something old school give this a try.

This is a beautiful adaptation of the original Link's Awakening for the Gameboy. Overall, this is a good game and a pretty faithful remake. Unfortunately, Nintendo put this game out on the heels of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is a modern, robust, and vastly more fleshed out game. Anyone picking up Link's Awakening needs to understand that they are not getting that but rather a gorgeous rendering of a world that could not be done justice originally in 1993 both in terms of graphics and game design.

Playing Link's Awakening brings a pure joy that I haven't encountered often in games. While it is definitely smaller in scale than other Zelda titles such as Breath of the Wild, there is plenty to have fun and interact with. The game's art style and music are additional positives. However, the only problems that have occurred have been a brief drop in frame rate (two years after release) and a largely inconsequential dungeon builder.

Firstly, my biggest beef with this game is that it's too short. Not much can be done about that given it's origin as a gameboy game almost ~25yrs ago. It's a very beautiful game with clean crisp graphics. The gameplay is what you'd expect and the controls are pretty quick and accurate (not slidy/sloppy). That said, I found the combination use of running and jumping (Dashing with the boots and then using the feather to jump) was not easy to time right. I really enjoyed playing it and am now guiding my kids through it.

Feel good, old school vibe, and is challenging. Great for long time gamers, young/starters that looking for a not so violent game, and of course the tri-force crew must have this. Short map, levels progress steadily, and can figure most things out with minimal assistance.
