What more needs to be said about TLOR film trilogy? Second to none, and looks absolutely stunning in 4k. The steelbooks are perhaps an acquired taste for some, but it is better than the plain set that is available, in my opinion. If you can get your hands on this, don't hesitate!

Great on all accounts! The steelbooks look gorgeous and the case that holds them all is amazing. Steelbooks aside, the 4k looks incredible. Sometimes you can’t really see a difference in the 4k bump, but they put in the work on these to make them look SHARP.

Steelbook w/ Both Versions But No Special Features

Happy to finally have this trlogy in UHD. This steelbook edition is good looking and includes both the theatrical and special editions. My only complaint would be the lack of special features, but I've still got my blu-ray set with all the special features so I can do without that even if that stops this set from getting a perfect score.

Excellent Movies & Great Adaptations of the Book

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Not only are these good movies, but they are great adaptations of the books. This is masterfully done, including all of the special features and documentaries. The enhancements for 4K look great on my 85" Samsung 8K, and the sound is incredible.

Good 4k quality. This is a good time to revisit the movies in 4k. I didn't like the fact that the steel book housing that holds the dvd in had all these major to minor dents in them. But overall, well worth the purchase. I would recommend for a sale.

Still subject to damage to the outer case. Needs better care in handling . My first set was poorly packaged and paid the price with so much damage. Inside the 3 steel books are beautiful and the movies are safely stored..no stacking. Audio and Video of these movies is exceptional. Pick it up if you can..don't let them ship it.

Nothing short of amazing! The picture looks incredible. Making color corrections to look more consistent with the Hobbit films, updated effects for 4K. The Dolby Atmos breathes new life into an already impressive soundtrack. Beautiful steelbooks complete the package.

I honestly can say this is the best 4k upgrade I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched these movies countless times but watching this version felt like watching them for the first time. Can’t recommend this enough!

Beautiful packaging definitely better looking then the standard 4k package. If you can find the set and have the budget definitely a great upgrade compared to the blu ray. Especially with the new Dolby atmos track the epic seems even more epic.

These are easily some of the best transfers I’ve seen to date. Pete Jackson is the GOAT and truly cares about us fans. Especially us physical media fans. If you don’t have this set in your collection, you’re missing out!

These movies look incredible in 4K. So much more detail than the blu-ray versions. I don't have height speakers so I can't comment on the sound. It's expensive but I think worth the extra cost.

I was worried that the artwork on the steelbooks would look cheesy, but in person it definitely looks better than online. The colors are nuanced and have a nice sheen. The case that the steelbooks mount into is also very sturdy and snug.

10/10 would recommend! We already had the extended editions on Bluray (and the theatrical editions on DVD), but just *had* to have the 4K editions. Overall it's a great collection and the steelbook is pretty cool.

Lord of the rings steelbook review

Similar to the hobbit set, this review is really dictated by the films and the steelbook quality. The films are great the HDR helps brighten the films and the atmos track is incredible. Getting your hands on a set that is pristine is another question entirely. I received my first on pickup from best-buy not noticing any issues until going home and seeing a bump on the top. I said it wasn't that bad but continually thought about this issue and why should I have to deal with this when paying 40 dollars for a film. I was going to return until luckily I found another store that recently got two more and was able to replace with one that looked perfect. Sadly this is probably the same issue for many other steelbook collectors. Hopefully bestbuy will find a way to correct these sets from arriving so damaged, especially at this price point.

While the seams of the effects show through more than ever, Lord of the Rings in 4K is given vibrant new life in enhanced detail in its lavish sets, scenery, and costumes, along with a dazzling new color grade. The epic looks more epic than ever.

Definitely the best these movies have ever looked. Definitely worth the Upgrade. Also Case is a big improvement. I love The notches so You can pull the movies out easier. That was a big complaint for me on the Game of Thrones collection.

It's LOTR... how much more do I need to rave about the films? The steels are decent. Could have benefited from a better finish and embossing. QC is also an issue along with poor shipping, so watch out before opening and make sure you have all the right discs once you do.

I had been waiting for the extended trilogy to be released in 4K forever. The 4K remasters were supposed to be released back in June, but I imagine COVID changed those plans. Nonetheless they're here now, and in awesome steelbook too.
