After seeing this movie so many time before, I was surprised by the sharpness of the new 4K transfer. Green is very present in this film which was a little distracting at first.

I’ve always loved this movie. I own the standard DVD, but purchased the 4k version when we got our new Sony 4k tv. It looks exquisite in a in a dark room and sounds great in DD 5.1.

John wick was pretty good in this movie. He works in an office and then is recruited to go into the matrix. I also work in an office, I’m just waiting for my opportunity now.

20 years since it was unleashed The Matrix is still as exciting to see as ever especially with this 4K release. Super sharp picture! Steelbook and artwork look great. Must have!

This is a must buy for anyone who is a fan of the matrix movies. Having all the disk together in such high quality is truly a great value I could watch these over and over again.

Great movie....Looks fantastic on 4k. Wasn't sure if it would look any better but it did. Much deeper blacks, brighter colors. Definitely worth the upgrade from Blu-ray.

the movie of course is phenomenal, and in 4K, looks like it was made in 2019, not 1999. the steelbook is decent enough with the bending spoon ("there is no spoon").

Using the pantheon of movie iconography from the past 100 years - from "High Noon" showdowns, to bad kung fu, to love's first kiss - the writing/directing team of the Wachowski brothers, Larry and Andy, achieves a fantastic, hodgepodge symmetry using hacker noir, comedy and mindless action. Thomas Anderson (Reeves) is a talented computer programmer at a monolithic corporation during the day, but at night he's an unscrupulous hacker tagged Neo. His work brings him to the attention of Morpheus (Fishburne), a mysterious stranger who tantalizes Neo. Morpheus compares him to Lewis Carroll's Alice, with talk of other worlds and realities. He offers Neo two pills: a blue one, which will allow things to continue on as they have, and a red one, which purportedly will lift the veil from his eyes and allow him to see "how deep the rabbit hole goes." This being a movie, and since the plot would pretty much stop here if he didn't, Neo takes the red one. When the veil does lift, it's Kafka meets "Die Hard," and Neo realizes the awful truth that Morpheus has wanted him to see. It's a truth darker than "Dark City," more memorable than "Johnny Mnemonic" and as terminal as "The Terminator." It's bad for him, but it's good for us. The most critical aspect of this film's success is the creation of the Matrix world, a simulacrum of reality where most of the people in this film work, fight and die. The Wachowskis set up certain rules for this reality and try to stick to them - thus making the realm as important as the "real" world. Of course, they also have a lot of fun working within their construct. Visitors to the world are faster than the other inhabitants and they can jump incredible distances. But they can still be hurt, even be killed, especially if they are attacked by the officious Matrix agents who prowl the streets. Reeves, who in the past has been accused of being kind of a virtual-reality effect himself, acquits himself nicely as Neo. The long, lingering stench of "Johnny Mnemonic" dissipates in the first few moments of the film.

Easily one of my favorite movies ever, and the 4k version is simply stunning. Too bad the sequels didn't live up to this one, but even by itself this is a fantastic movie.

Finally got to watch, picture is very good, able to see all facial details. Heard the audio was outstanding, yes I felt my couch vibrate but I was expecting more. Had just finished watching Aliens from the Alien Anthology, I thought this had better sound and is older. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Excellent movie, and great entertainment.

Looks amazing in 4K and a lot of the action holds up so well after all these years. It's unique to itself and you can stop with this one and never have to see 2 or 3

The 4k version is good, but I was not blown away by it like other 4k movies (Ready Player One for example). Still better than the original on DVD though.

I have bought a lot of 4K's recently and I have to say I was mildly disappointed in this one. I think that if you already own the blu ray then there isn't much reason to go 4K because the blu ray was a good transfer to start with. So get it if you don't have the blu ray version.

Let me start to say this one of the best sci fi movies all time! And it’s nearly 20 years old and it still holds up! I had pretty high expectations for this 4k, while it is a big improvement over the blu Ray it could of been a lot better. I personally hate grainy movies, but this movie was made with grain and they didn’t use hardly any DNR so the grain is pretty noticeable throughout the movie. When I buy a 4k movie I don’t want to see that , but at some point if they got rid of the grain it would make the movie look worse. Granted this movie is 20 years old and made with film grain so not much could be done. I’m very picky when it comes to video quality so take my complaints with a grain of salt. But the colors the blacks, and the action scenes are awesome! The greens really pop out of the screen and you can see every detail of Morpheus face! If your a fan of the movie definitely pick this up!
