People in over their heads isn't funny...in real life. But for some reason, watching everything go wrong for Tom Hanks in this movie is just hilarious. This movie doesn't get talked about nearly enough. And you think it would, seeing as how Tom Hank was one of the biggest stars in the world at one time.
His dramas just never set right with me. To me, his comedies are MUCH better. There's enough pain and suffering in real life. I don't want it in my entertainment.
Never saw this movie in widescreen before. A LOT of fun.

Absolute banger of a movie! I went on a Tom Hanks movie spree, and got this along with The Terminal and Forrest Gump. Highly recommend this to anyone who like Steven Spielberg movies!

I was 15 when i saw this the First time and nothing has change. Miss how simple and fun old comedy films use to be. The only one thing is that it feels shorter than what i remember. Recommend watching the behind the scenes, a little short but fun to watch.

An early Tom hanks movie. Very well done. I had not seen it since it came out in 1986 (as a VHS movie), so I got it. Glad I did!

This is one of my favorite movies and I cannot understand why it was dismissed by critics. A lot of the comedy is slapstick, with collapsing stairs, flying Perdue chickens and "weak" trees. But in the context of rehabilitating the house, they can get away with it. This is a truly funny movie with none of the grossness that usually passes for comedy in Hollywood. And it is a must see for anybody who has ever rennovated a house. We are currently remodeling our home and use terms from the movie all the time from the "Shirk Brothers" to "anybody call a plumber?"

Young lovers Walter (Tom Hanks) and Anna (Shelley Long) are house-sitting the New York City apartment owned by Max (Alexander Godunov), Anna's ex-husband, who suddenly decides to toss them out. Needing a new home, they settle on buying a country estate outside the city, which is available for a suspiciously low price. It soon becomes apparent why, as doors fall off their hinges, staircases come tumbling down and a bathtub falls through the floor. The couple's relationship suffers similarly.
Used to own this on VHS and DVD. Worthwhile upgrade!

This film was just one of Tom Hanks stepping stones to the top of the movie ladder. He had several very good comedies throughout the 80's, and then in the 90's he catapulted into a whole other galaxy and never looked back. The Money Pit is actually one of his worse movies yet it was still pretty good.

I owned this beauty on dvd figures I give it an upgrade and totally worth it. Picture is clear and the sounds are more detailed. Plus this movie is a great 80’s comedy that truly screams 80’s classic.

The Money Pit is one of the greatest comedies ever. Tom Hanks and Shelley Long are terrific as a couple who think they bought their dream house, only discover it's an actual nightmare. Much hilarity ensues as the house literally falls apart around them.

One of my favorite movies of all time. One of Tom Hanks great comedy performances from the 80's besides another classic the burbs that he also starred in. Anyone who owns a house and has done repairs on it will find this absolutely hilarious!

This movie is one of toms earlier films and great! Shelley long is great in this comic twist about a house that is far more work to fix then they are really ready for. The bluray transfer is good and excellent Best Buy exclusive :)

Great entertainment. Tom Hanks and Shelly Long have great chemistry. Anyone who has ever purchased a "lemon" , whether it was a car, a house, or a computer, will identify with the frustration experienced in The Money Pit.

I grew up with THE MONEY PIT; laughing at it as a child who understood little to still laughing as a much more understanding adult. More extra features might be nice, but for the price, I won't complain.
