If you're a fan of slasher movies or gore extravaganzas, this is not the movie for you! But if you like Hitchcock-like intensity and that not-easy-to-ignore sense of discomfort, you will love this movie. Kevin Costner shows a side which I've never seen before, particularly when he interacts with his son, and the feeling of dread which envelopes the film is not easy to forget. This is a sublime horror film, and the horror is subtle but effective. I'm not a fan of bloody movies, so I cannot compare this film to "Last House on the Left," or "Halloween," but I can say this...it's been a very long time since I had to stop a movie in order to catch my breath...and this movie did that to me. The biggest problem with the film is the title! If you love old fashioned scary movies which focus on something unseen but not un-felt, this movie is just for you! Oh, for the record, I'm never, ever setting foot on those Indian Burial Mounds in Cahokia, IL! NEVER!
