Great movie, one of the best epics that Hollywood has put out in recent memory.

i thought this was a good film, loved the story as well as the action and lore of this film. also really dug the characters as well.

Spectacular Viking epic with excellent attention to detail. Great cast as well. Unfortunate it did not do better at the box office.

Good period film with great action, costumes, & actors.

Robert Eggers is a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema. His previous works, The VVitch and The Lighthouse, are praised by many as unique examples of "elevated" horror. In The Northman, he strays away from the genre, but keeps developing the mysticism (and mythos) of his characters. The film is surprisingly heavy on the Viking spirituality and mythology, and less surprisingly, on the britality of the times. All cast members give praiseworthy performances, particularly given how physically-demanding some of their roles are. The story is timeless (based on a Viking legend that served as basis for Shakespeare's Hamlet). The score is ever-so-powerful. Even if this may be my least favorite of Eggers, it is a worthy successor in his filmography.

Bought this movie before seeing it based on the time period it's set in, trailer and great reviews. The movie was surprising and unexpected. Visuals were awesome and story wasn't far off from original Norse myth. As a long time history teacher, it is highly recommended.

This Blu Ray film was very detailed with the lighting and shading scenes. The sound selection complimented the whole project perfectly! Looking forward to more movies like this coming out this year.

Maybe my favorite from Eggers, although the Lighthouse still holds strong. Physical media forever!

Strong characters, pretty intense, highly recommend if you like history and Vikings.
