This helps tie things together but not as scary as you think. Maybe it’s just me.
See for yourself. But I do love the movie because it has heart. Yeah I know a scary movie with heart. It usually doesn’t happen
that way.

Movie:
Didn’t have that unique feel like in the Conjuring 2. Weak ending due to weak kill.
Pros:
(Picture) Look impressive on an OLED, 4k upscale via an Oppo.
(Sound) Being able to get Atmos in Blu & experienced it in 7.2.4.
Cool Lenticular Slipcover.
Price.
Cons:
No Digital Copy.
Wishes:
The 4K wasn’t steep.

The film opens in 1952, events that will unfold in "The Conjuring 2" (2016) where a nun, Sister Valak, shows up in the dreams of Lorraine, a real-life character who with her husband carry out exorcisms. Flash back Twenty or so years in the past. A young nun in a monastery in Romania has killed herself, for reasons unknown. The Vatican assembles a commission to study if the ground has been desecrated, or if evil has taken over the cloister. Cardinal Conroy summons Father Burke, a troubled priest he knows has experience with exorcisms and a novice from a teaching community, Sister Irene. The cardinal knew her as a child who had experienced eerie religious visions of a nun. Believing these are the best persons to investigate, he sends them to the remote monastery in post-war Romania.
The two arrive at the local village and meet Frenchie, a Canadian who has stayed in the village to help out the people. He delivers supplies to the monastery, leaving them in the cave beneath that also contains a large freezer and a way to the convent above. He has something disturbing to show them.
Burke and Irene are greeted by a nun and shown to room where they will sleep. It doesn't take long for the two to begin following noises, Burke with a flashlight and Irene with a lantern.
They soon come to a door that says (God ends here). Of course, they must go beyond to discover what made the nun kill herself. But when they get lost, they realize the message on the statue of the Virgin means something: "Mary will show you the way."
Of course, the two, and eventually Frenchie, encounter the nun who is possessed by the devil, along with others that I will leave to your imagination to figure out. passageways of an ancient and remote mountain

If you are a Catholic who is reasonably knowledgeable of the faith, but you like horror films, you can appreciate that the devil does enter through "portals" that human beings open to him. In a film, the only way you can show a portal is visually, though here it is difficult to understand the spiritual malady that created it in the first place as a way to invite the devil into the monastery. The solution is also one that no Catholic exorcist would ever use, but then you couldn't have a film franchise.
The Nun is not intended to be a vocation movie, I suppose you could say it makes Catholic nuns look trite Catholic images and teaching, along with characters in red vestments, white habits and collars, and sacramentals such as crucifixes and rosaries are ideal for the movie. high quality of show is top notch. I am sorry they revert to suicide as a plot; suicide is so prevalent today in real life
Because this a horror film about the devil, But if people come away believing the devil is real, well then, that's a good thing.

Since The Conjuring 2 first introduced Valak, the Nun, I couldn’t wait to see this. She’s a terrifying demon but was underused here. The movie is still very creepy & definitely worth seeing. The end ties in perfectly with Conjuring movies. I love Taissa Farmiga from AHS and she’s great here as a young novitiate investigating the evil at a convent along with a priest the Vatican calls in for supernatural phenomena. Acting is great, I definitely recommend.

I don't think anything will ever be as scary as the original Conjuring was at the time of its release. The setting and the way the scares were handled as well as the creepy build up were what set it apart. Now 5 movies in its easy to see some of the scares coming and the acting in this can come off a bit poor at times. However if you're into the lore being spun for this series, The Nun is a good watch

I thought the movie was pretty scary and creepy with very good acting performances. The girl playing the young nun is actually Vera Farmiga's real life daughter, the girl from the AnnaBelle and Conjuring movies and the movie "Orphan". All in all a very good scare with creepy overtones. Worth the rent or purchase.

I read a lot of reviews and wasn't sure if it was going to be any good or not but even though it doesn't go into extremely deep detail about the back story I think it does an excellent job of telling you what you wanted to know about that nun. I felt it was fast paced, exciting, on your seat exciting in parts, and overall very well done. I must add to your conjuring collection.

Another good movie placed in The Conjuring universe. It was nice to see a back story behind the painting from The Conjuring 2. There were some pretty scary scenes. Granted the movie was extremely predictable, but after a while of watching movies, you come to expect that.

Out of the 5 Conjuring Universe movies as of this review (Conjuring 1 & 2, Annabelle 1 & 2, The Nun), this is probably my 2nd least favorite. I still loved the scenery and gothic feel of the movie. Still recommend for horror fans, just really nothing new for me.

If you love horror like I do, then I highly recommend this movie!! I can honestly say that this is the best and most relentless horror movie I have seen in a very long time! And I have been a huge fan of horror for a VERY long time as well. Seen'em all. This one really stands out. It's seriously perfectly made for horror fans like me!

Love the series and past movies, but this one was sort of boring and light on scares and thrills. Feels like a filler movie in the series and could have taken it or leave it, but it does meet the back story of the nun from the conjuring 2.

This movie started out real creepy and kept it up throughout the whole movie. The presence of the nun during the whole movie was done on a sensory level as you hardly even see the nun until the end of the movie and the twist is great.

I was pleased with how well this was done. Not sure they can get as much mileage out of the Nun character as they have with Annabelle. Well worth checking out, especially if you're already invested in the franchise.

Valak is definitely a face you will not forget and her evil image will hunt your nightmares. Valak has to easily be the most creepiest Nun I’ve seen in any horror film to date. Excellent story line and I love how the made it to fall in line with the rest of the conjuring and Annabelle movies.

The Nun movie was pretty good, some scares. I found her(him) to be a lot scarier in the Conjuring 2. The storyline could have been better, but that's not why we watch these movies. I hope they don't make a Nun 2.

The people behind the Conjuring movies have again brought us a entertaining addition to the series. While not the best of the bunch it was a good watch and ties into the first Conjuring movie pretty good.

The "Conjuring" films have all been uniformly good, and this entry in the series is no exception. A creepy, atmospheric gothic horror film in the mold of many fine classics from the past.

A scary movie with an actual story that is pretty good , it keeps you guessing without too much gore and looks like there could be a part two. Images probably too scary for younger kids!
