This was my first time seeing this movie, and I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I don’t know why it took me so long but I’m glad now to have finally seen it, and more importantly own it now. I thought it looked great on 4K. Very solid transfer.

Movie lovers like me are so grateful that Best Buy not only still carries physical media, but makes sure to have quality releases like this. The Sting is a great classic film and it's wonderful to see it on 4k and in Steelbook no less!

~ The Sting gets the 4K Steelbook treatment ~

This classic starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford really never gets old to see. The 4K upgrade is pretty good for the film. It's not perfect, but it is a better upgrade overall. If you like these two actors and a cast of many others including Charles Durning (Tootsie), and Robert Shaw (Jaws, Force 10 from Navarone), check it out. The steelbook is fabulous with artwork throughout the package including the discs themselves, which is great to see. You also get a digital copy, for those that collect them. Pictures are in listing for purchase. Recommended, but for Adults only as there is language and gambling.

~ THE STING makes its way to 4K UHD ~

What a good movie with a great cast! THE STING featuring the talents of Paul Newman and Robert Redford, once again team up to outwit their nemeses'. Gambling and betting are a sure way to get rich quick, if you can succeed and don't blow it. Robert Shaw plays the bad guy here, who is really rich, and wants more competing in several card games and then upping the stakes in a high bet racehorse scheme. The bets are high, and the duo of Redford and Newman try to outsmart the thorn in their side, Robert Shaw in the "final" showdown. Picture and sound are fairly good for the age of this movie, but it doesn't look stellar beyond belief. I would say it is an improvement over the older releases, but, if you have the 4K TV and player, I would upgrade. *Redford and Newman previously paired up for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I would recommend, not for kids under 13 though. *You get the Blu-ray, digital copy, and slipcover as well.

    Must have classic

It's earned it's reputation as a classic and you can spot the echoes of it's influence throughout the years. Overall, fantastically done, from the script to the cinematography to the acting. The 4K is very true to the picture, keeping the grain and emphasizing the (out of time) score. Why do I say out of time? Because it's not of the period and that threw me off right at the very beginning but, the extras do a great job explaining that and many other things which, if you like additional interviews and commentary, there's a lot of goodness in how this was made. Especially the story of Paul Newman sawing the Director's desk in half that he then nailed back together. LOL. Basically this is a movie for people who like movies and it's a must have on 4K. Well done.

Very entertaining older movie starring young Paul Newman and Robert Redford. You will never really know what's going on until the end. Fun to watch.

Got this on a blind buy, knew it was a classic. Looking at the blu ray however it looks like the 4K on this isn't terribly impressive. The HDR adds some new life to it but overall not an incredible improvement on the film. Perhaps they just used the same blu ray scan and released it at a higher resolution.

This is one of the best films of the 70s. Great cast, great story and an outstanding soundtrack (Scott Joplin!). Paul Newman and Robert Redford only ever made 2 movies together and it's really a shame… they acted as if they were just two old buddies who did this all the time. Watch it. Then watch it again with someone who's never seen it so they can pass it on. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Sting is an incredible movie. Maybe that is why it won for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. It is also the last time that Newman and Redford worked together. It is, simply, a treasure of a film. The 4K version of The Sting is the best it has ever looked. Details are stronger. Textures come alive. The depth found in the colors adds an extra dimension that was not there before. Watching it in 4K is a pure delight. It is a great presentation.

    The 1973 Classic Hits UltraHD!

George Roy Hill's Oscar-winning 1973 classic finally hits the UltraHD market and the results are quite good. Much like another Universal title that recently hit the 4K format - "Animal House-, "The Sting" has had a rough go of it on home video. Digital noise reduction and a heavy amount of image sharpening have made the Robert Redford/Paul Newman comedy a blurry mess in the past. The new 4K UHD edition thankfully rectifies that. Gone is most (if not all) of the digital noise reduction and the artificial sharpening has been considerably toned down. The film still has its occasional softness, but that is now more the result of when the movie was shot as opposed to a technician trying to pretty up the image. Like "Animal House," I wish Universal had offered up the original mono soundtrack as well as a few new extras. Otherwise, this is a nice release and a welcome addition to any 4K library.

I'm ashamed to say this. Until this was released on 4k, I had never seen this masterpiece, even having owned the regular blu-ray before this. I was blown away at what a fantastic movie this is. The picture quality and the sound are crisp and clear, worthy of the upgrade, and I was sold by the steel book.

Wow, wow, wow! This Steelbook of The Sting was sent in mint condition (well protected for shipment) unlike previous purchases of steelbooks. The movie looks great in 4k; the best it has ever looked! I recommend especially after the new method Best Buy is taking extra care of the collectible disc.
