This movie is amazing! I have loved it since childhood, and have seen it numerous times. This 4k edition of it is absolutely stunning. The best it has ever looked! If you've ever seen it, I highly recommend you pick this up at Best Buy, especially at this amazing price. If you haven't, well, you should. I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed.

The War of the Worlds is a classic earth-invading movie, with the planet Earth fighting aliens from space.

The plot itself is entertaining. They did a great job on the remaster. The picture is very clear. The sound is amazing.

This film is a classic that deserves the 4K treatment in 1.33:1 full frame format! Too bad theres no upgrade on the audio!

This is an outstanding transfer. I liked it even better than Criterion's recent attempt and that's saying something. Much has been made of the blueish tint to Mars in the opening frames. Criterion attempted to correct that and were mostly successful, but the 1080pness of it just can't match what a solid UHD can do. Colors are vibrant, blacks are black, and the image is well-defined. I've never seen this movie look better and I've been looking at it regularly since the days when it would regular air on WGN back in the late 70's and early 80's. The only major caveat is the lack of the original mono which can be found on the Criterion, but I'm a big fan of what Ben Burtt has done with this modern, but faithful remix. It's highly effective. If you can look past less-than-red Mars and the lack of mono, this disc is outstanding. *Course, I just remembered that I'm writing a review for a disc that you're likely not going to be able to buy from Best Buy. Alas.

I loved this movie as a kid! Now, and I was very surprised to see this in 4K slong with DTS-HD or Dolby Vision and audio was incredible. Picture is crystal clear and sound was great! Extras were excellent, too. How they made it, plus the original radio broadcast by Orson Welles make it a must purchase. Radio broadcast scared a lot of people at the time who actually thought the incident was real! Anyone of a particular age who remember this movie are going to enjoy it even more. I know I did!

Good movie. My copy is a standard 4K UltraHD, 70th Anniversary copy, not the Steelbook version. The disk does contain the add ons: Commentaries, Mercury "On Air" presentation, the trailer, etc. The 4K version looks like a capture of the original film, it does not appear as an actual 4K movie like we have today. The film starts out in a night scene and the footage is quite dark as expected, but wait and it does get brighter. This is a recapture of the 1953 4x3 Color 85 minute General rated movie. Also: The War of the Worlds, with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning in 2005.

This movie, which is on many lists as a top 100 film of all time, has exceptional color and cinematography. Played on my Sony oled, it is a top 10 4k exhibit to show off the high end color spectrum the tv offers.with over a million colors to offer, the eyes were busy watching this iconic sci-fi from HG Wells classic novel.it is easy to recommend this movie, and it gets my "must own" grade!

    A Wonderful Classic Sci-Fi Film in 4k

Being a sci-fi fan since childhood, this is one of my favorite classic sci-fi movies (right up there with Forbidden Planet). Gene Barry was great in the star role. Some may recognize Paul Frees who played the radio reporter and whose voice was in the opening credits. Among other parts, he is the "ghost host" at Disney's Haunted Mansion ride and "dead men tell no tales" in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The film also has some religious connotations which are rare in today's movies. The film's special effects were ahead of their time. This 4k version is crystal clear and the extra features were very interesting.

One of the great sci-fi novels of all time spawned one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. This gorgeous, reference quality 4K disc represents the stunning Technicolor photography like never before. This 50's classic has never looked better. Highly recommended!

    A Beautiful Picture Transfer

There are certain elements to this original War that haven't held up over time, like confusing character decisions. However, it still manages to convey the invading alien force in a fearful manner all these decades later. The true selling point of this release for collectors is it's one of the best Technicolor transfers I've seen on the format- as if I was watching it in a movie palace 70 years ago. And while the sound may not be completely up to snuff by today's film standards, it fits in perfectly with that "being there at the beginning" feeling.

A necessity for any fan of historical science fiction film and VFX—George Pal, the film’s producer and special effects designer, was a master of optical compositing with miniatures. This 4K restoration makes the film look like it could have been released a decade ago rather than in 1954. Amazing.

The best of the alien invasion genre. The effects still hold up and the sound from the martian machines still is one of the most recognizable in sci-fi. The wires holding up the flying saucers have been removed with great care except in the last scene. No getting away from that one!

Producer George Pal's "The War Of The Worlds" (1953) is one of his great film accomplishments along with "When Worlds Collide" (1951) & "The Time Machine" (1960)! If you love Sci-Fi films then you will love "The War Of The Worlds" (1953) in Ultra HD Blu Ray!

Great transfer resulting in an exquisite WAR OF THE WORLDS presentation. Excellent sound. But no matter how many times I’ve watched this classic, it never gets old. A true classic of yesteryear, today and for decades to come.

If you can get over the split second blue Mars scene, this really is a nice transfer and it's highly unlikely it will get any better than this for some time. I also own the Criterion disc but obviously I didn't mind double dipping for such a great film!

4k restorations of Technicolor movies have been stunning for the most part and War if the Worlds is one of them. This movie has aged very well. Along with Forbidden Planet my favorite 50's Sci-fi.
